$5 "Hey You" Credit for Westpac Group Customers (Free Coffee)

500

Hey You is an app that lets users order from their café en route, offering convenience and simplicity. With 450 participating cafés, Hey You initially launched in Sydney and Melbourne, with expansion across Australia now underway.

https://www.heyyou.com.au/

To celebrate Westpac's partnership with Hey You, they're offering $5 credit when you use the brand new Hey You tile in your Westpac, St.George, BankSA or Bank of Melbourne mobile banking app.

  • To access the Hey You app, download and install it from our mobile banking apps and register an eligible card payment source as the service account.
  • From today, there will be a new tile in the Mobile Banking app 'Quick Zone' allowing customers and to claim a $5 credit.

EDIT:

  • To find the new tile, simply open the Westpac Live app, and swipe to the right. Look for "Ready to Order?" and follow the links :)
  • At this stage looks to only be available to iPhone and Android users
  • Might work for other non iOS and Android users if they download the Hey You app directly (To be confirmed…)
  • $5 Credit does not specifically need to be used for coffee. Can be redeemed for anything.

  • I thought it was personally named for me….. "Hey you!"

    • +1

Haha I had trouble refining the grammar in this one. I think I've edited it appropriately now :)

  • Nice! Thank you!

  • I cant seem to find the "quick zone" tile

    • On iPhone before you sign in swipe to the right and it's the third tile from the top for me - it took me a few looks to find it as well as it's not obvious.

      • Ah i see it now, ta!

      • Thanks for clarifying where I did not :)
I've edited post to help find the hidden tile.

        • It's actually swipe left.

  • Thanks OP, just signed up and got my credit, worked perfectly :-) Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow morning.

  • Is it available on Windows Phone, can't see it anywhere?

    • Hi dumdidum,
Looks like only iOS or Android at this stage as the Hey You app is only on those platforms as of now.

      • Edit: It would appear they do have the Hey You app on Windows phone… T&C's only state iPhone or Android unfortunately :(

        • Maybe try download the Hey You app directly from the Windows phone market and try through there? You link your card through the Hey You app itself

        • @starkers: Just a heads up it is called Beat the Q on Windows phone. Haven't sussed out if the credit is available yet…

  • Can't see it on the St George app on Android either

    • +1

      Hi ozbroady,
Might still be making its way to the St George app. Might be worth trying to download the Hey You app still (it's required anyways) and going through that way? I think the link in the banking apps really just is a shortcut to download the Hey You app…

    • +1

It's there in the St George app on Android.

I have Quick Balance enabled. For me, I had to swipe to the right(prior to login with pin) or press the quick balance button.

  • the credit can be used for coffee only?

    • +1

      Hey axu1,

Nope! Can be used for anything :)
$5 just gets credited to your account and can be used on anything from any of the cafes in the app

    • EDIT: beaten by rep

  • +1

Would be nice if the app details explained all the permissions it asks for. It always strikes me as shady behaviour when app developers don't explain them.

  • +2

Is this like the Rewardle app?

    • +1

      Love my Rewardle app!

      • +2

Much better than Rewardle. You order and pay for your coffee before you get to the cafe and it's ready when you get there! Used to be called Beat the Q.

        • +1

          Rewardle does this too…

        • I've been ordering ahead coffee's with Rewardle for months now, it's a great concept! This smells like a copy.. Not that that's a bad thing in and of itself, free $5 is great.

        • @jesho: I'm pretty sure Beat The Q (the name prior to "Hey You") started about a year before Rewardle was around. I've been using it for at least 3 years.

        • @jesho: Don't know which came first, but I know Beat the Q has been out for a while. In fact I didn't know there was the ability to order ahead in Rewardle, I always just thought of it as something similar to FlyBuys for when eating at cafes.

  • Downloaded the app, registered a card, can't seem to get it working with the BankSA app :(

    • Me too, but found out what to do which is the same as all the other suggestions :

      • Download the HEY YOU app
      • Download (or open the BankSA app)
      • Logout of your BankSA app
      • Swipe to the right (to view the hidden screen that sits on the left)
      • Click on "Ready to order?"
      • Automatically opens up HEY YOU
      • Sign up/register for HEY YOU
      • On the homepage, at the top you'll see something about BankSA and $5 : click/press on it
      • Add your BankSA card details
      • Done. $5 is yours.

Note that in SA it's basically useless. You have only two options for redeeming : [Rush Drive Thru, 380 NE Road, Windsor Gardens] and [Cafe Melzar, Shop7, 4 Engelbrecht Lane, Mt Gambier] … good for those who live/drive near these two places.

  • Will it work with existing account?
Or will I need to delete and reinstall the app?

    • +1

T'S and C's don't say existing accounts are ineligible.
Please let us know if this is the case though.
Credit is applied after registering a Westpac group card in the app, so if you've already registered your card, it may be too late (then perhaps try a different card?)

  • +2

Ah, finally figured out what's happening - for me (on my Android phone), I finally got the $5 credit after these steps: 1) installed both Westpac Mobile and Hey You apps, 2) registered my Westpac credit card on Hey You app, 3) opened Westpac mobile app, and WITHOUT logging in, swiped till I find the icon which says "Hey You", then tapped on it. After 3), Hey You app opened, and $5 was credited to my Hey You balance.

    • Can $5 buy anything else except a coffee? Like what else

      • +1
        • hi discrete, step 3, i couldnt see Hey You icon on my android westpac app.
EDIT. I found it when updated the Westpac banking app, it was on the tab after swiping left once

        • +1

@plowry1977: You could've replied to discrete directly lol

    • +1

I roughly followed these steps and it worked for me.

      • I downloaded both Westpac and Hey You
      • Opened an account with Hey You
      • Looked around Hey You app to try and find any mention of the $5 credit.. found nothing
      • Opened Westpac app.. swiped around to try and find Hey You. Couldn't find it. Came back here.
      • Realised that I'm supposed to be looking for "Ready to order? Jump the line with Hey You.", clicked on it
      • It automatically opens up Hey You, and there's a small banner up the top saying "Add a Westpac card as a payment method* and get $5 credit, * excludes PayPal
      • Attempted to scan Westpac card.. didnt' scan. Pressed back, typed it in.
      • Worked, but then got an SMS saying $5 has already been credited using this card
      • Realised that when I scanned the card it worked, just didn't go through
      • So now I have my card appear twice and I don't know how to remove it.

      tldr:

      • Download both apps
      • Open Hey You account (don't forget to use a referral!
      • Go to Westpac, find "Ready to order?" tile (it was swipe left once for me) and press it
      • Hey You app should open up, add your payment method
      • $5 credit added. Done.
  • I notice a place to enter a referral code in the Hey You app, but no indication of what the referral program entails. The Beat The Q website Account section has the ability to send an email to refer someone.
The received referral email contains a link to the Beat the Q web page to sign up with a 14 digit hexadecimal code pre-entered.
    What benefits does referral bring?

    • Oh well spotted!

I just checked and if you refer a friend, after their first purchase you will get a free coffee!
Even better, if you refer a cafe and they sign up with Hey You, you get 10 free coffees! :)

      • Does the referee get anything? Otherwise what's the incentive to use a referrer?

        • referee's usually get nothing in referrer programs. It is then up to them to refer onwards etc.

  • Are Hey You in Perth?

    • From what I can see there are 2 cafes in Perth :)
      Llama Espresso and Urban Bowl

  • Thanks starkers

  • thanks for the deal OP

  • Anyone have a referral code?

  • +4

    Stop right Now
    Thank you very much
I need somebody with the human touch
Hey you you always on the run

    • +1

Gotta slow it down baby, gotta have some free coffee.

  • How long does the credit last for? Is there a time limit? Not going to be in Melb/Sydney for a another month or so maybe.

  • Done! Even used a random referrer code from ozb. Added mine to the list! Fingers crossed!

  • +2

Downloaded the St George app and got my free $5 credit.
Just picked up my beer battered chips with aioli for lunch. Yum!!!

  • btw… Scotty's added Hey You/BtQ referrals to the official OzB referral system…

  • Is this some spin on Kramer's - get $50 if you don't get a hello? and you get a greeting with a H?

  • Great deal. Really easy considering I already have the Westpac app and Hey You on my phone. Not a big fan of the new app name; Beat the Q was a much better name.

  • We've moved all the referrals from the wiki into the automated referral system. Feel free to add yours to the top, just hit the edit button in the referral box.

    • neil, considering that you would still need to type in a code if registering from the app, would it be OK to leave the Wiki for people to note down the codes? Otherwise the referral system would need to display the code somehow, instead of just opening up the link…

      Just a thought.

      • The random link leads you to the website which displays the referral link not only in the form field but also in the url. Not sure what the difference would be between using a wiki to copy the code vs. using the HeyYou page to copy the code?

        • Much of a muchness, I suppose. I just find it easier to grab text off a page than from a URL field. Anyway, no biggie.

  • According to my reading of the T&C the $5 is per card you hold: I hold a credit card and debit card so does that mean I get $10?

    • OK I've spent half an hour on hold with both Hey You support and Westpac support but they won't uphold the terms and conditions. I get the message: "This card has already been used to redeem the $5.00 credit from Westpac." when using the second eligible Card. Anyone else tried?
