Optus ZTE F286 Mobile Phone $10 (Was $29) @ Coles

740

I saw this in store today. I know they have been on sale before but $10 is the best I've seen. Price isn't on website but is printed on the boxes in-store.

Locked to Optus.
Camera
Bluetooth
FM Radio

Worth it even for the radio.

Coles aren't too good at maths. Its more like 1/3 price, not 1/2 price.

    • +2

That, or they're comfortable with hype-based marketing.

      • They aren't allowed to claim it's 1/3 price since it's not quite 1/3 price. That would be false advertising.

$15 at Officeworks. Specs listed here. Chance of price matching?

$10 phone that beats 99% smartphones…..on battery life

    • +3

Different screen, processor, GPU, etc which require more energy on smartphones…

      Awaiting 'and chill'.

  • how do we get unlocked without spending much is the question??

    • +26

To unlock for free, visit: http://www.wintechmobiles.com/tools/zte-unlock-code-calculat…

      Then follow these instructions:

Use the code *#06# to get your phone IMEI
Enter in the above site and get two codes. U need the NCK code to unlock the phone.
Now Power on the phone without the SIM card installed
      Enter * 983 * 8284 # (a prompt will appear to enter a password)
Enter the calculated code (NCK only) and choose OK
Power off the phone and install any non-optus SIM card
      Restart the device

    • I used a guy from eBay. I think he's in UK. Worked out to $2-3 per phone. Look it up on ebay

  • Only 3G 900/2100. No 850 so not good for Telstra, otherwise would seriously consider.

    • After unlock, will this not work on Telstra at all?

  • bought 2 in netflix deal, unlocker works a treat. Not a bad basic phone

  • 1/2 price? Someone at Coles needs to work on their maths

    • +3

its half of the saving which is $19 so with some rounding & inflation u get to $10… got it?!

Something that can finally be compared to Nokia 3210.

free handset at a price of a AC charger lol to 😊

$10 for genuine samsung charger and free handsfree

      • link ?

      • where from?

        • Sorry. I meant ZTE

  • +4

I need this in my life for some reason.

  • could be useful as a spare backup phone. For $10 bucks - can't really go too wrong? how cheap does an ozbargainer want to buy a mobile phone for? 5c? ROTFL!

    • Probably more like a free handset.

    • +1

That I have done 95c phone after 5% staff discount on a clearance phone.

    • That's about right. Maybe free will be better.

  • Not that I'll really use it, but anyone know the camera quality?

  • Can i still use this locked phone if i am with Amaysim? since amaysim uses the Optus network.

  • Deal!

I still have four of these in a drawer at work from the last deal. Never used them just purchased them for the 3 months free netflix promo that was running at the time. Pity it isn't still going I would buy some more. No idea what they're like as a phone but as a cheap way to extend my netflix sub they were fantastic :P

Would this be a good car mp3 player. I only have AUX in my car headunit. Also is the charger usb compatible?

    • This for me also is the critical question

    • +1

Ask Japius, the guy with four in a draw.

    • +1

The charger is two parts - powerpoint usb charger and usb-micro cable - so 'yes'

I brought one ZTE F286 from coles and unlocked from http://www.wintechmobiles.com/tools/zte-unlock-code-calculat…
its working with other network. Its not great phone but only $10.00

  • Does it have an alarm and will it function even if turned off?

    • Alarms tend not to function when turned off.

      • Pardon, if the phone is turned off?

        • +1

          Same outcome

        • +2

There are phones that do wake on calendar or alarm events, you do realise that, right? Just wondering if this phone does also. Other ZTE phones do.

  • If we have to spend at least $30 per month, I wonder why anyone would buy $10 phone.

    • +2

Why would that be the only option? It could be a phone to mainly receive calls by unlocking it & for $5.00 get an Aldi sim that lasts 1 year.

  • code worked for me…bargain in 10 dollars

  • +1

Could you imagine 10-15 years ago that a mobile phone would cost only $10 one day…

    • well the $100 computer has become a reality has it not.. You could pick up a cheap dual-core android tablet + keyboard for like $50

  • Thanks op, picked up one as emergency phone (for when my phone die).

  • Need help. Got permanently Network Locked by entering around ten times while trying to unlock ZTE fit. TIA

  • Is there any way to install 'Snake' on this phone?

  • Works with Aldi on 2G., no need for 3G, as this phone only for making calls and sms.

  • Ugh I missed this… Hope it comes available again soon.

  • Huh? It has not expired
