Minor self-accident, worth to claim insurance or self-repair?

Would it be worthwhile to claim from car insurer (excess $700) or do my own repair with $1500 out of pocket? There were some dents and scratches to front and back door when I hit a pillar in a carpark. Just worry it would jack up the cost of my premium in the future.

Any wise words? Thanks!

  • go with the $1500 out of pocket I'd say. That way you save the no claim bonus and dont have to pay a jacked up premium the next year.

  • Maybe check your policy. I caused a fender bender once and my insurance told me it didn't affect my no claim bonus.

  • +1

Ask your repairer if they can do a better price for cash, and make sure they know you're paying for it out of your own pocket, not insurance.

  • Diy, if you know which end of the sledge hammer is which!

  • Thanks guys! DIY did crossed my mind but not too sure it'll work.
