  • Thanks, how accurate are these cheap thermometers?

      • Hello,aacarrer.

Thanks, how accurate are these cheap thermometers?

they are very accurate, to a certain degree

  • +2

I brought these therometers before, the suction pad will not stay due to the screw being in the middle of the cup and air leaks over time. They will fall. Can always take the suction cup off and sit it on a surface. Accuracy, if they are the same, is within 5% approx.

    • Hello,dato5man.
This can stick on any smooth and clean surface with the osculum type.

      • +4

Well I think he said it will not stay for long.

        • Hello,Gaggy.

Generally speaking, this can stay 3-5 months. But the precondition is that to wipe off the glass and then clean on the suction.

    • +2

where did you bring it to?

  • +1

    +1 for funny coupon code

Thanks for the post TA, you can also get thermometers on ebay for $1.00 that don't require batteries but they aren't digital - http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=thermometer…
    Stick on ($1.00) - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Tank-Temperature-Sticker-Adhesive…
    Wall Hung ($1.00) - http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_ftrt=901&_udlo=0.00&_sop=…

not as cool but probably more practical and accurate!

      • +1

For more than one reason, including battery-life, sticking these on a surface that sees direct sunlight isn't smart, but the button cells in digital thermometers (even more than clocks) do tend to last a long time. So, pretty practical.

Given that this deal is over now, if heartbroken /arsebroken OzBargainers go searching for basic digital thermometers (/hygrometers) that take something other than 'button', those batteries can last for yonks (Australian Standard technical term).
One digital thermo/hygro I own takes a single AAA that has lasted for almost 5 years.

As for accuracy, Brad - digital thermometers as a group certainly tend to be more accurate for temp than very cheap-end digital watch+clocks tend to be for time.
They use crappy, low frequency/grab-bag crystals for their oscillator reference, in case you were wondering?
        You weren't??
        Oh.
        :(

If you've ever seen a group of even fairly expensive conventional thermometers (home, kitchen, aquarium) selling in-store, you would know just how much their readings can vary. You take a gamble on one from the median/miggle, or you take a known-quantity/reference to compare.

Possibly because I'm insane (regularly confirmed on OzBargain and further confirmed in a comment below), I may have done just that…

        • Exactly what I was thinking.

  • +1

Comes to $1.04 AUD for me on PayPal

    • +4

Did you change to AUD before checking out as per the post?

      • +4

        nope..

        haha.

I see coupon and deal, no time to think

  • +1

Thanks TA, got one to match the clock from the last deal :)

    • +6

Me too - I predict the temperature will be in the high 30s when this thing arrives

  • Thanks TA, all good for 95 cents :D

  • Cheers TA.

  • +6

  • Wa-hoo!! Thanks all great and mighty negotiator TA.. another cheap USD0.70 thrill of a bargain for a Friday afternoon. Ordered in USD on my 28degrees card, not sure what exchange rate they give but hey…

    • +2

      It's Thursday today…

    • It's still Thursday afternoon in Oz, don't think any place/timezone reached Friday afternoon yet :P

      EDIT: beaten by seconds.

      • maybe you are not beaten.. maybe its just the timezone!!

        • Damn - I need a stick-on calendar too!

        • +1

          @dave12113:

David! If you hadn't just thrown out all of your local pollie/plumber/real estate agent 'junk mail' without checking, you'd just be able to check your friendly local kitchen fridge for a stick-on calendar.

Or maybe & also magnetically, the underside/inside of your electricity box if you're just a bit insane and like to amuse bored sparkies and even more bored meter readers, like I do.

Consider yourself on 'Junk-Mail-Magnetic-Calendar-Watch' (JMMCW), from now on, Dave!

  • Thanks TA.

How accurate is the 15-25 days shipping ?

    • Hello,CoolMJ.
Generally speaking, the delivery time is about 20-30 business days.

      • 20-30 business days = 30-45 days in total :)

        • +2

Hmm so it's about 80%-100% inaccurate.

        • -1

Including some objective factors 30-45 days in total.lol

      • +1

So generally speaking, it is inaccurate.

        • +1

haha. True. I have seen some seller sending it in 2 weeks. Not sure why other need over a month.

        • It's 95c delivered.

I think waiting a month or so is reasonable.

  • Thanks TA. Got one to measure all the hot air blowing around.

  • Hi Newfrog Team,

I am extremely disappointed with the experience I had after placing the order 30000037108 on 1st July 2015, after looking at a post here on OZBARGAIN. I didn't receive my order so far which is like almost 3 months, and I would expect you to atleast arranging a refund. I am no longer interested in receiving the item at the moment.

I have tried reaching out to your sales team number of times, but they didn't come back to me with any proper response. As a last resort I have tried posting a resolution question to you on your website, however your website is not accepting any questions, by throwing an error after submitting the query.

I would expect you to resolve my issue as soon as possible as I could see there are frequent posts on OZBARGAIN.

    • +1

The rep responded in the wrong spot. See just below. Also, feel free to send them a PM…

    • +1

Three months? I would've sought a chargeback after two months from ordering.

      You're very patient.

  • Sorry,Bloozzz.

Thank you for feedbacking the problem here and i have feedbacked this to our custormer service and will send you email quickly. We will take further actions of your order.

    • Thanks Rep for your quick action,

I got the refund credited into my account.

      • You are welcome.:)

  • +1

    Thanks JV.

I tried a couple of times but the price does not change.

    • +1

      Same here

    • +1

      same code is dead

    • Trying to confirm with rep, but there were 270 pieces to start with and they may all be gone.

      • +1

No problem TA. Thanks for the post anyway :)

      • hook me up bro

  • +1

Showing at $4.07 even though i changed currency and applied the coupon. Is the deal already expired ?

  • +1

The code doesn't seem to be working :-\
I've changed the currency to AUD, clicked Add to cart (also tried Buy it now and was the same outcome), entered HOTARSE into the Coupon code field, clicked Apply - and the grand total was still AU$4.07…

  • +1

    yes code not working anymore

  • So you stick it on glass, does it measure the temp the other side of the glass (ie outside) or inside?

Is it just a thermometer for ambient temp?

  • +2

got stung by the expired code in checkout

    • just got the refund, thanks newfrog

  • I keep missing these!

  • OHARSE :( Missed out… would of been brilliant in my convertible

  • +1

    Pity I missed this, though.

  • +1

    outofstock= missarse

  • +1

Missed this, but just bought a bunch of thermometers and humidity meters on eBay.
    Is that a sin?

    • +1

Yes, but maybe you'll be able to measure the temp in HELL!

      :)

  • Received mine today - just won't stay stuck to anything… Fridge, window, door, laminate cabinet. Shame, but still a cheap thermometer.

    • Got mine too an hour ago. Cleaned the suction cap and stuck it on the fridge. Hasn't fallen off yet.

    • Got mine too cant wait for the clock to arrive so i can complete the set….exciting times.

Now we just need a cheap deal on some double sided tape
