  • Still considering one of these but need to know if the headphone output is stereo. Can't seem to get confirmation of this, not even in the manual however the unit seems to have a mono/stereo selection but that may only relate to the actual signal reception, not what it produces. Hmm.

Own one. Headphone output is stereo. Just checked with a generic set of stereo headphones. Most would be broadcasting in stereo.

      • Excellent, thanks for the info!

  • Does anyone know the runtime from battery power on these? Pity you can't recharge the batteries in the unit like with other Sangean's.

Can't say exactly how long is battery life - I mostly use on ac - but have used for 8h+ on cheap $5 worth of alkaline D cells: lcd still shows full battery. Best radio I've owned by a big margin. Stereo out on headphones for dab & fm.

  • Thanks. Been looking to get one of these for a while.

  • Whatever the normal price, it is still an ugly looking radio. DAB+ radio is getting cheaper and cheaper. Over $100 is expensive by any standard.

    • … bu this is a Long-Range AM/FM Radio that just so happens to have DAB+ built-in. These contain the extra tuning circuitry most car stereos have to pull in DX transmissions. A standard AM/FM Radio with or without DAB+ cannot compete with these at all, like comparing Apples to Oranges. These aren't for everyone, they're only really beneficial on radio transmission fringe areas.
