  • do you need cables all around your house for speakers ? or can it be wireless ???

    • it's cabled

      • -4

So why to mush up your house with all cables…Is there any good surround sound speaker without wire ?

        • +2

you looking for something powered by ether? or anti-matter perhaps?

        • There are plenty of surround sets where the rears are wireless, you do need to plug them into power though.

    • Ozyboy, your question is unclear. Do you mean

      (a) you want to have sound in a different room than the sound source, but it's okay to have wires within that room; or

      (b) you don't like want any cables at all, apart from power cables?

      The answers are:
For (a), yes, you can have "AV senders", somewhat like these, to send the audio (and usually video too) from room to room:
      http://www.jaycar.com.au/Sight-%26-Sound---Home/AV-Transmitt…
However that one is stereo only, a bit limiting for these 5.1 speakers. There are probably 5.1 AV senders in existence, but I don't have any expertise in that area.

For (b), fully wireless speakers (other than the power cord) exist too, but I think those will cost an order of magnitude more. Look up "Sonos speakers" on Google, that's one brand I have heard about. Sonos also have battery-powered solutions, but I don't think that's what you are looking for.

      • Exactly my question was (b)… is there any good wireless surround sound system. Not sure why i got neg on that ques ?

        • Theres a number of sets with the rears being wireless… however they still need to be plugged into power.

If you're worried about cables, in my home theatre I have in-roof rears so no visible cables, or you can cable through the wall.

        • So why to mush up your house with all cables…

This may have been why you got negged. For $50~ I doubt you will find a Wireless 5.1CH setup.

        • I think you got negged because your question doesn't look like it relates to this deal, and could be mistaken as criticism of this deal. Every website has a proportion of intolerant members, some of them were probably "retaliating" because they thought your comment was a criticism.

Your question is a general question, so try re-posting it in the forums - perhaps the "Electrical and Electronics" forum. You'll almost certainly get a friendlier reception there.

Do be thorough in your forum post - explain why you don't like cables. Is it because you are renting? Have young kids or pets? Trip hazard? The more explanation you give, the better the replies will be. If you give too little information, you'll get lots of replies that aren't very relevant to what you want.
