this is the 9.7 LTE version

SAMSUNG TABS2 9.7 LTE WHITE $524.30 ClicknCollect or $532.25 Delivered + More @ Dick Smith eBay

    • Thank you…
The price is AU $749.00. How can I make it 524.3 $ ?

      • Use voucher code "CDICKSMITH30" at checkout.

  • Thanks for this.
Considered the eBay deal but I couldn't think of anything I wanted to spend the $50 on so gave it a miss. Woo!

Pity that Click and Collect had nothing close to my area but the shipping was reasonable enough and worth not travelling further afield to pick one up myself. Only downside is the "I want it now" impulse.

  • Looks like a downgrade comparing to last years model, Tab S 8.4, only improvement is the built-in memory, and better bluetooth?

Performance is much better than the tab s 8.4 —— 52,137 vs 35,495

      Performance and Conclusions (http://au.pcmag.com/samsung-galaxy-tab-s2-80/36825/review/sa…)

The Galaxy Tab S2 runs Android 5.2 (Lollipop) and is the powered by the same processor as the Galaxy Note 5: an octa-core Exynos 5433 chip. That makes it a very powerful machine. On the Antutu Benchmark test, which measures overall performance, the tablet scored an impressive 52,137, beating out last year's Galaxy Tab S 8.4 (35,495) and even capturing the crown from the Asus ZenPad S 8.0 (45,891). This is a welcome improvement, as one of our biggest knocks against last year's Tab S was its processing power. Games like Asphalt 8 felt buttery smooth.

Let me correct few things, they made few mistakes.

Android 5.0.2. (5.2 I believe don't exist, I maybe wrong. That said, I am certain that 5.0.2. is used on Tab S2).
Exynos 5433 was used on Note 4. Exynos 7420 was used on Note 5 which is more battery efficient and powerful due to better finFET used.

      • Also, in terms of performance, the performance gap should be around what you'd expect from flagships of 2013 (Note 3 but with QHD screen) vs 2014 (Note 4).

That said, QHD on Tab S is pushing it, user experience wise, I don't think it was a good decision. It struggles with games that demands flagship performance (i.e. 3D games). So there is an improvement in SoC from Tab S1 to S2 which would make user experience better.

This or the ipad mini 2 guys? I'm also considering the 9.7, which is good at $420. Love the Ipad Air 2 but can't justify the price ($699 for the 64gb) :(

    • +2

Android or iOS is the main reason to choose either device.

      • It's a bit more complicated than that, since the Galaxy isn't a 'pure Android' device.

        • Do you want to use multiple apps on that big screen? If yes, go with the Galaxy - they've had them since the Galaxy S3.
        • Do you want the most accurately collaborated screen? If yes, go with the Galaxy. Also note that blacks on the Galaxy are pitch black (… 'off'), makes videos and movies a pleasure to watch at night.

        There are more differences.

  • Any Gold color in Tab S2 9.7 or 8"?

  • do u guys reckon the price will be better in 2 months time (end of Nov) or wait for end of year sale?

    • Hard to see these falling further with the exchange rate the way it is…

    • android prices always go down with time.

    • I've seen cases with eBay sales where you end up not seeing a better price (i.e. Tab S 10.5 came down to $350 ish at one point close to Black Friday last year from eBay promotion + TGG eBay store holding a sales on it). So you'd be gambling, it'd depend on whether eBay will hold another sales and whether the retailers will conduct sales during that time.

I'd say it's likely to be better in few months time, since Tab S2 is fairly new (discount usually happen when products get discontinued as well) and I don't expect the AUD to fall further.

That said, it's just my guess.

    • +2

I'd personally just but it now. It could possible go down a bit more in 2-3 months but doubt the difference would be that much to justify not having until then.

Also saves time looking/waiting for another sale.

also one of the reasons is that I am going overseas at the end of jan.. so 60 days from the day , will be end of nov and I can get 10% TRS back..
just want to get some consensus if I better wait till end of nov / before i go, or pull the trigger now.. ?

      • It's not going to get better than this in the next 12 months.

        • may I know what you are based your opinion on? Past experience/history ?
even after 10% TRS tax back?

        • @firefoxy: based on the Tab s 8.4 pricing. I got one in oct 14 which died after a 4 cm drop (smashed screen). So I have been tracking the pricing since release and the prices never dropped below USD 339 (in US) being most of the time between USD 379/399. Even the Dell 8 Venue 7000 is $499 . So finally despite I'm not a fan of the 4:3 screen I've got a replacement for the S8.4. I considered getting an 8.4 but TBH the 8.4 had a fantastic screen, but 16gb ram felt to be kind of short ranged, and the speed wasn't that bad but not great. Also is +1 yo technology. Same with the Dell 8 Venue - Similar specs tablet but getting old and not cheaper.
So I got this one, and I will be using the TRS for extra 10% . This tablet @ USD 244 is a great buy. 16:10 is MUCH better than 4:3, but there are not very good alternatives on the ~8 size (I have a Tab S 10.5 but it's too big for carrying it around)

  • I was juggling between Tab S 8.4 and S2 8.0.

For S2 : more storage, slight updated CPU, 4:3 aspect ratio which is good for reading/browsing, more recent android version
For S : more pixels, 16:10 aspect ratio which is good for movie/video, camera with flash, cost a bit less, longer hours of battery

For me I picked Tab S from Dick Smith @332 after 15% off mainly for it better suits my usage. The money saved should cover the 16GB storage.

    • I've the Tab S 10.5. My thoughts:

      • Tab S2 is much lighter, and thinner. Yes, the difference is negligible in numbers… but it makes a real difference when in your hand, my god the S2 is soo light and thin, does not feel like a tablet.

      • Tab S2 has less pixels, but you're not going to notice it; still very sharp, as sharp as a iPad.

      • Tab S2 is touted to be 'good for reading / browsing'… and I find this to be BS. Why? Because Galaxies (since the Galaxy S3 phone) have a function called "Multi Window", which allows you to have two apps open (or more) at the same time. You can have two open, and adjust the size of the app, to your liking.

      • Tab S2 feels more responsive, and faster.

      • Tab S2 doesn't have side facing stereo speakers. Its stereo speakers face down, like an ordinary tablet (e.g. iPad, Nexus).

I'm VERY happy with my Tab S 10.5. But the Tab S2 feels so much better, as it's thinner and lighter…

      • I think the reason why people say 4:3 is better than 16:10 in terms of reading and browsing is because the ratio is close to the A4 paper ratio.
The reason why 16:10 and 16:9 are prefered for movies is because of letterbox.

If you argue that multi-window makes it moot, I'd argue at the very least, this's true for fullscreen usage. In my opinion, under certain screen size, reading books and watchings movies are best done in fullscreen because of how small the screen is. I tend to include 10 inch to be under that certain screen size, but that's my personal preference.

    • I also got the Tab s 8.4 for the ratio as I will mainly watch movies on it. My advice to people is, if you are going to mainly use it for movies, pick tab s. If you are mainly going to play games, pick tab S2.

      • Been ahming and ahhing since yesterday whether to get the S2 9.7. Have a Nexus 7 2013 and like to display music sheets on larger display, so finally pulled the trigger on one. Reckon the 4:3 display ratio should be better for music sheets than 16:10 ratio.

  • hi ,

I am totally new to this cashrewards thing so I am just wondering if someone can shed some lights.

I did sign up and activate my cashrewards account but don't know how to use it for the first time. From reading the FAQ I am assuming I need to purchase using the link to the item on my account to be eligible for the 2% cash back. Is this correct?

I spent a good hour last night trying to find my way around but I couldn't find any link to this tab through cashrewards.com.au. So just wondering if someone would be kind enough to post a link?

    Thanks

I bought the S2 9.7 Tab from Dicksmith Yesterday for 419 after having a look at it the day before at officeworks.
First impressions from using a Z2 Tablet that it is a really solid Tablet, everything is crisp and nice to navigate through. Its UI is different from Sony but not too much which is good. Themes are a nice touch by Sony which Samsung hasn't done yet but overall I like it. The 4:3 doesnt suit me for watching videos though but its just a minor issue
$420 for a sub 10 inch tablet is pretty good I was planning to get the z4 but weighing the cost this is much better I can almost buy two S2 tablets for a price of a Z4 ($700)

Annoyed. I bought the s2 9.7 Wifi a few days ago on the ebay 15% deal. DSE 30% deal appeared the next day. Really tempted now to buy the LTE version and see if I can return my original I bought through Officeworks on Ebay.

I'd rather the S 8.4 or 10.5 for the pixels and aspect ratio.
what's the best deal on those?

    • -1

Lol are you losing money on their imitation? Hold Apple shares?

      • I have a galaxy tab s 8.4 actually love it, i just don't like the new design(hmmm why change the 16:9 screen) and features or downgrades. Lol for the neggers.

  • I can't see click and collect option. Is it only delivery now?

  • black Sold out.. fwark

  • Does anyone have blue tint issue with the Samsung Galaxy S2 Tablet?
    https://mikecanex.wordpress.com/2015/09/09/samsung-galaxy-ta…

I got the issue and I don't know how to do with it

    • Is it when you hold it at an angle or is it just the general colour temperature?
If it is the colour temperature, you could change the temperature in the setting.
It should be under display or something.

      • It happens when you view it at an angle

        • You'd have no other choice but to return it then, as far as I know.

        • @Oversimplified: I am not sure I can return it at DS.

        • @BTB: You return the device to the pick up store you've chose I think (that's what happened with my portable charger anyways). They were fairly lenient with returns in my case.

        • @Oversimplified: Yes I know but it depends on the store and the person you deal with. That why I hate to buy thing from Dicksmith. Their return policy really suck

  • has anyone that chose click and collect got the notification that the item is ready? bought it 2 days ago.. Im impatiently waiting…

    • i was the same as you. i called them about it the next day. they said they tried to called. had my old number.
told me it was out of stock so i had to go pick it up at another store.

      give them a call !

    • I called them the day after I ordered to enquire and they said it was ready, although I didn't get an email or anything. Give them a call.

  • +1

i got a message today on my phone that my order's ready to be picked up.
