    NOT DISHWASHER SAFE

    I bought a bunch of these last year, most of them faded badly in the dishwasher. We use finish tabs in the dishwasher, so it's not like we used more soap than the average person either.

    Mine came from Cannington WA. I'm interested how other users faired.

      I assumed this would be the case. I had a mug years ago like this that got put in the dishwasher and came out sparkling white.

        Had completely forgotten how old it was. It Looks Brand New - Printed Text/Logo & All.

      I've had similar mugs printed by other places like artscow and put them in the dishwasher for years and they still look fine so it's pretty disappointing that these ones fade in the dishwasher.

      Wondering if any pottery people know if a glaze, or other coating, can be applied over the top to make it last forever?

        A glaze needs to be fired in a kiln, which would be worse than the dishwasher for these. Does work for you kids' hand-painted gifts though.

        I expect a clear acrylic paint would be worth trying. You can get it in a spray-can. But won't last "forever" like a proper glaze.

    I'm very interested, but not to have my loved one's face on it.

    I love my family to bits… but I'd just find that weird/tacky/something.

    Good price if quality was high end… Dishwasher will kill most photo mugs, but the best quality ones will go years and years before being affected (unless washed in very hi temp washers). If these ones are fading after a couple weeks then must be crappiest sublimation ink used, or crappiest heat presses, or operators of said heat press. A high quality photo mug using the top of the line inks and mug press wouldnt go much cheaper than about $10 to make, with time it takes to produce one etc… But $25-$30 will buy you a mug that should last the distance (from the right business). Even the best ones only recommend hand washing, or dishwashing at low temp if you want to keep the vibrancy of the print/ink for the longest time.
