Simple Amaysim data SIM deal.
New 1GB SIM for half price $5 - You know the drill, its just half price for the first month and is $10 ongoing. Might help some for some quick and easy disposable data. Note the purchase of data pack does not qualify referral credit.

Not really a good deal - it's $10 per month = $120 per year, for 12GB. On Telstra, you can spend $140 and get 16GB and 2 years of expiry — in addition to getting the data, that $140 is available to spend on content.

Best way to use these starter deals is to keep it moving.
In this case the sweet spot would be to use it for two months for some data use, for say a tablet, in the car or whatever. If you use the $10 Bonus to pay for the second month, then you have 60 days for $5. Then piff it and move on.
Must say, that Telstra deal sounds excellent.

I wouldn't dream of arguing with you EC, old boy.
I am sure you can quote the Amaysim Refer a friend program rules word by word.

    • Which plan are you referring to in Telstra, I just looked at their website and can't find 16G for $140 with 2 years expiry

  • Sorry for a noob question - Can this be used as a second sim in OnePlus Two for getting additional data? Thank you.

    • Yes, you can also set one SIM to call/text only, and the other to data only.

      • Thanks for your response.

I went to Telstra and Optus stores today, but was told that the SIMs only work in tablets or wifi modems. Is this any different? Thanks.

        • From what I can see, it's simply a data pack added on top of a regular Amaysim SIM card, so it should work fine in mobile phones. Contact Amaysim to be sure, their live chat is very helpful.

Looks like there is also the Unlimited 5GB plan for $10 using FIRST10, again for the first month only.
Might be useful for those that need a bit more data in their tablet/wifi modem for the next 30 days. Not sure if referrals work with this deal though.
"Then piff it and move on", as King Tightarse said.

    • Unlimited 5GB?

If it's data only what's infinity bazillions turnips unlimited?

$10 referrals exclude data packs .

    • Looks like that is right.
Oh well, $5 for 1GB might be useful to some people.

    Funny story:

Once, way back in the day, I posted the best Amaysim deal going for the month. I didn't particularly know about it at the time but far out! When I checked my Amaysim account a little later I was actually shocked at the amount of referral credit I got. All those $10 Ozbargain click throughs had really added up. I think it was the first time I earned referrals for anything and I thought they must have made an accounting error or something! I used that for free 3G internet for months. Hundreds of dollars had built up and I hadn't noticed as it wasn't my main phone and I rarely checked the account. I still have $150 in there from just randoms. I don't really need it as it is not my main phone just quietly adds up with the occasional random referral adding another $10 and kicking the date out further. I have never given Amaysim a cent more that the original $15 or whatever the first deal I got was. They have given me hundreds and hundreds since then and many many months of free call and data.

So I am thinking you EC, well you post just about every Amaysim deal ever and you jump on and comment all over any other Amaysim deal if one gets past your gloves. So I wonder just exactly how much referral credit do you earn an month? Ozbargain is bigger with more reach than ever and you seem to post every single one with clear instructions how people can earn $10 so you do too. It must be absolutely huge these days.

So how much is it worth a month to be a top referrer?

    It must be absolutely massive!

    • Reckon, he can retire on all that credit?

  • aah, Amaysim and their first month specials
