I appreciate that Norton products are not everyone's "cup of tea" but I have been using it for the last 12 months on my Windows 10 laptop and it has been running very smoothly, contrary to other peoples opinions of the product(s).

My current Norton subscription is due to expire and found this pretty good deal

Norton 360 Multi-Device (3 Devices, 1 Year) - Usually $99

Use coupon 25SYMNORTONAPAC for 25% off any Norton product brings it down to $74.99

Use cash rewards to get a further bonus 45% cash back - http://www.cashrewards.com.au/norton-by-symantec

Not a bad deal for $41.25

I've never trusted software from eBay. For the few extra $ at least I know it's a legit download from the vendor.

I buy it from eBay every year. I just use the licence key provided and download the software direct from the Norton/Symantec website. Never had an issue.

        • Will bear that in mind next time. Didn't think of that.

          @Firey1989:

I too do the same exact thing, norton had a big stigma pre-2010 as it was known as a resource hog, i was a hater as well. Then i tried it in 2011 and realized it has improved in leaps and bounds, it also helps that a large amount of PC/tech sites have reviewed it and its worked well.

When looking for norton on ebay, make sure it's a local seller that has a high sellers rating and has sold hundreds of copies before you buy, that way you know the license key will be legit.

You get free antivirus with Windows and it is more effective.
Got hit with Cryptowall virus, that wasn't even new, while using Norton 360 - utterly useless.

The free antivirus with Windows I am assuming is windows defender? If so it's detection rates are more inferior to Norton 360. Take a look at av-test or av comparatives. Personally I am only using Norton because I got it free.there are plenty of good anti virus with endless trials on ozbargain and free alternatives like avast.

https://www.av-test.org/en/compare-manufacturer-results/ refer to the results to see how Norton compares with Windows Defender. A few years back when Windows Defender was new it was doing really well in detection rates etc.. but now it is really bad.

Windows Defender detected cryptowall virus, Norton 360 didn't
Like I said useless & waste of money (in fact it cost me money)

I don't think you are grasping the concept of how a antivirus works. Some have better detection rates than others but just because they are better than others doesn't mean they will detect the one you've received. I always have a separate scanner such as mbam that runs weekly incase the antivirus misses anything.

  • Thanks for the info Firey1989.

Sorry, but paying to install a virus on your computer? I spent 2 hours last night removing Norton from a computer. They should be paying me.

    • If it was Norton 2008 I can see why you're complaining. But from 2009 they had a major overhaul of their software since it was so difficult to remove and a resource hog. I was skeptical at using 2009 and on wards but it surprisingly it did work well and when I uninstalled it, it would get rid of it for good. Too many people are still of the opinion that Norton is a P.O.S. Using Norton 360 now which is great. Look at AV-test results https://www.av-test.org/en/compare-manufacturer-results/

The Norton AV removed OK, but the Anti-Theft thing was basically a virus - unwanted and almost impossible to remove. They have NOT changed since 2008…

  • I would recommend lighter options. Windows 8/10 AV or MS security essentials plus a bit of commonsense is all you need.

  • There are always so many try-hards commenting on antivirus posts. The negative voting cap needs to be raised higher.

Very true. I mean I shouldn't have to prefix my post with a para like this…

"I appreciate that Norton products are not everyone's "cup of tea" but I have been using it for the last 12 months on my Windows 10 laptop and it has been running very smoothly, contrary to other peoples opinions of the product(s)."

I should just be able to post the deal freely without judgement
