  • whats the delivery time from geekbuy?

    • +5

Typically ~3 weeks with free shipping. Usually 3-5 days with DHL or TNT.

      • -7

        Typically ~3 weeks

Why does it take so long?

        • +14

That's how long it takes for China Post, Singapore Post and PostNL to process and ship to Australia followed by Auspost processing and delivering it to your door. That's why it is free.

        • +26

@jv: You should ask them that.

        • +50

          @jv:
And no one would complain ;)

      • -4

i mean theres slow, then theres geekbuying slow

        • +11

3 weeks isn't so bad. As long as they're not taking over 3 months like some of the others on Ozbargain.

        • +10

          @jv:
When ever ibuy off ebay its usually 3 weeks from china.
          You must be getting lucky.

        • +13

@Hirolol: no. JV assumes that free shipping entitles him to courier delivered service on a silver platter everywhere. Maybe their staff hopping onto the next flight to Australia and handing it to him at the door with a smile.

        • +9

Oh sorry, got mixed up with gearbest.. my apologies

        • @bchliu:

          JV assumes that free shipping

There's no such thing as 'free' shipping. The cost of shipping has just been built into the price.

        • +5

          @jv:
OK.. let me rephrase it then.. "no. JV assumes that every cheap product purchased overseas entitles him to courier delivered service on a silver platter everywhere that is included in the price already."

          Better?

        • +1

          @jv:

Really, 2-3 weeks + is standard shipping from China. nothing new there

        • +2

          @jv:

          We're dealing with China here…

      • The last time I bought it was more like 6 weeks.

    • +2

Two* weeks for most of my order with express shipping but I'm still waiting (6 months) for my power bank.

*The courier I picked didn't ship from one of their warehouses so they wanted us$50 for express shipping instead of the us$20 I paid. After three weeks of trying privately, the rep here got me a refund.

I reordered to a capital city with the 'correct' courier and two weeks later my order arrived minus the power bank.

Emails about the missing power bank were ignored. I found a tracking number for deutsche post on my order but deutsche post did not update it. My account was locked (I get a runtime error when logging in). By this time I had wasted several hours and the power bank was pretty cheap so I gave up.

This was six months ago so hopefully they have improved.

Unclear you still there.Geek buying take forever to post a mate of mine received phone second hand with sim card in it.Dont do it bad customer service

    • I think you will find that many of the Chinese online shops send phones like this.
Quite often the apps contain spyware

I have been lucky though and always received brand new boxed phones.

      • +3

Dodgy Aliexpress sellers and generic phones from Amazon is where you'll find phones with 3rd party Spyware.

  • Can anyone point out the differences between prime and standard?

    • Prime has 32GB ROM
      Standard has 16GB ROM

      • +1

I believe the processor is clocked slightly higher also (2.2GHz as opposed to just 2 GHz).

        • and the GPU is clocked higher also

        • @kywst: the standard model is 179AUD,is it worth the extra money for this? I think I am leaning to the standard

        • +1

          @Jackson:
          179 AUD for standard? Where???

        • -1

          @Jackson:

Depending on your carrier, 3G/4G might not work with the standard model. Different bands and such.

        • @Jackson: You won't see much difference. The additional 16GB is the only tangible difference.

        • @Benjamin7711: sorry guys miscalculation, I checked and it was only a few dollars less from JD after their JD999 voucher but the voucher appears to be expired for me now

Xiaomi are indeed a reputable brand. Maybe read a little about them?

        • +5

Sure you've read plenty. I'm not disputing that but to clear things up … what have you read about Xiaomi that leads you to believe that they are not reputable?

        • +12

They sell high quality products without the luxury price tag, they have a very reputable name for ensuring their stuff is of high quality. Not sure what your issue is with them, it might help your case if you elaborate.

        • Because your naive..

I have a few Xiaomi products and they are excellent quality.
Just because your more familiar with other companies does not make Xiaomi any less reputable

  • This or the Zenfone 2? Or other sub $300 phone?

    • +7

This. It's awesome. First hand awesome.

      • +1

Agreed, using it right now (although not the prime version) and its seriously great

  • +3

This isn't a deal it has been this price for a while, cheapest i can find is.

    $179.89 at Everbuy http://www.everbuying.net/product1078806.html

Not sure if everbuy is any good?

    or reliable

  • +1

I hate our AUD being so low at the moment.

    • +1

Isn't it meant to be at this level?

      • youre still here tony?

      • It helps our economy by allowing other countries to buy things at USD70c on the dollar, while everything we buy from them costs us 43% more.

        • Yeah I get that… Sucks for us.

But isn't it meant to be like this? Waznt the value inflated before?

        • +1

@inose: I think around 80c is more normal. I don't think there's anywhere that it's 'supposed' to be, you could argue that, if the market is working (and they always work) then the price is always correct - no matter what it is.

  • +1

how does compare to old Nexus 5.

  • +5

    Don't forget cashrewards 1.5%.

Or even better! topcashback.com (USA) 4% cashback. into your paypal.

OR, buy from everbuying for the same price as geekbuying, go through topcashback and get 8% cashback!

    Your welcome.

    • +7

      What about my welcome, specifically?

      • +1

        What's specific

        • Did you say pacific?

  • How are everbuying or geekbuying with handling warranty or their customer service?

    • Geekbuying's customer service will be really good if they know you're from Ozbargain. Warranties on phones will usually require the phone to be sent back.

    • +2

      Their rep's here are excellent.

Live chat is only for selling you stuff. They use email for after sales.

One emailer tried to help me. Another said I had the wrong email address (I clicked the mailto from their website…). Other emails were ignored.

Why do you have to use TA's image and turn it upside down? Disgusting. Just find something original.

    • lol I think it's meant to be a joke. Like, even his username is a knockoff.

      • +1

        whats clear a copy of?

        • because its 'clearly' a copy

    • +1

Last week it was jv's avatar, upside down.

      • +1

I think he had taken it a bit too personal. If TA doesn't like this I might have to take scotty's :P

    • +3

Turning TA's image upside down would be original. I haven't seen anyone else do that.

    • Why do you care so much?

    • It's probably a Chinese company. Ya know, copying lol

      • Chinese Company, but an Aussie posting.

        • … Done from China.

        • @ms: No actually. This 'copying' was done in Aus… where I live.

        • Prove that you're an Aussie.

          Can you eat Vegemite?

        • @inose: Vegemite and cheese sandwiches were the best thing ever on Qantas planes growing up.

Any deal on this Teclast X98 Air 3G 2GB/64GB Windows 10 & Android 4.4 Dual OS?

I'll see what I can do.

  • Hi OP, do you have any deals on Ulefone be touch 2 or doogee f5 i like to buy 2 each.

    • +1

I'll see if I can get some coupons organised for you.

  • Is this a Clone phone or a Clone TA? I dont trust him he has nasel hair:)

  • Shit I thought this is post of TA and details in post are pretty similar to how TA posts his deal. After reading comments i realized its not.

  • +1

works out to be AUD 262.13 (with coupon) not AUD $250

    • +1

Paypal charges extra to get their cut. $250 is the current exchange rate and you'll get that if you pay with some credit cards like 28 Degrees.

      • that price has notthing to do with paypal. that is what geek buying charges in AUD

        they charge AUD 276.71 - [14.57(value of geekbuying coupon code)] = 262.13

        • It will be converted back into US and back into AU through Paypal.

        • @Clear:
the price on this website http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-2-Pro-4G-5-…

Is AUD 276.71 this has nothing to do with paypal?

        • +2

@solamente: The point I'm trying to make is that the currency on there isn't always up to date and there is no point in choosing AU and paying for it as it'll be converted to US.

    • It is cheaper pay with US$ on geekbuying website and let paypal convert it to AU$. I cost me AU$ 259.75. Couple $ can be spent on cheap tempered glass protector on ebay.

  • So is the battery life on this phone any good?

    • +8

What did you find when you Googled that?
      You did Google it, right?

    • +1

Really bad on miui6 but improves about 30% on miui7

  • Is there any deals on the RedMi 2 (not Note version) at the moment? I don't really like big phones. prefer 4.7" screen…

    • -2

are you sure like to have less then 5"

    • +1
