Mobile Phone Plan, with Loads of Data, Anyone?

Hi there:)

I'm house-sitting and only have access to prepaid mobile data.I currently have 2 phone plans:

  • the optus/woolies $26 prepaid plan , with 5GB data + $250 Optus to Optus calls + $250 Optus to any network calls and sms. Expiry: 45 days , which is approximately $17 per month.

Now that I no longer have access to unlimited broadband at home, 5GB (and 3G at that) is just not enough. 12 days ago, I caved in and signed up to the $60 Red SIMO vodafone month-to-month plan , which I've been able to negotiate down to :

  • 10 + 1 extra GB bonus data
  • unlimited calls and txt
  • 120 mins international calls
  • $50 per month, with 1st month half price.

So first bill will be $25, due on the 28th of Oct. I don't need the unlimited calls & txt and I don't need the 120 mins international calls. But I do need the 11 GB data. Is there any better deals out there, please?

Also, what do I do with my $26 prepaid plan, which unless I recharge will expire in January next year?

thanks ,

I'm not here to give you advice sadly, but I'm just here to say $50 for 11GB of data is really good. It's amazing =how you were even able to negotiate for that!

    • yea I'd also like to know how you got 11gb for $50

      do tell….

    • This deal, which is now expired. Not sure how she negotiated to get that extra 1GB though. Maybe it pays to have a french accent?

      • I said "please"? I've spoke to 5 different people ( they were all very nice) before I finally got transferred to the right department. They straight away offered me the 1GB.

  • she-it that optus plan looks hmmm….

T&C: Data is charged in per MB increments.

It expires within 45 days, or next time you recharge. Whichever comes first.

what does that mean? It expires where you recharge? lol?

    • It means that there is no rollover. If you recharge before 45 days, you lose whatever credit you had left.

By being rarely consistent Vodafone will offer slightly Higher / lower plan for the price; over time, sure.

If you did not miss the data add-ons era (after WWs' 3G 5GB) one could be even on < 10.8GB & 18.1G per [$24]-[$32] prepay recharge Today. Hard capd,
data dashboard, and rollover ea <58 days for ~$12/mo magic.
*adjusted for 20% off sales/5% GCs etc.

★Telstra CM2 tops up 1.000GB for the price of a txt message. … What else is there to talk about? ;)

  • Optus had a deal not long ago for either 65 or 75 a month ona m2m plan and get 15gb and unlimited texts and national calls.

Was very close in getting it but I'm on the m2m 50 for 8gb data.

    • That's between $15 to $25 more for only 4GB extra.

      • That's a lot of standard definition pornhub videos….

        • He doesn't have that problem, he makes his own videos ;)

The most I've paid for mobile plan is $30 per month. I've worked it out that I need about 10GB* per month, so the voda M2M plan suits me . The only issue is that the most I've ever paid for mobile plan was $30 p/m and that was before I became an ozbargainer. I was hoping someone could suggest another mobile plan with the same data allowance for cheaper.
