if this is optus or telstra, I would have opted in ASAP

    • +7

If this was telstra this would have set a new record.

  • good price if you live in metro area.

  • I see that it's also a share plan category. So say i get this and wife has some 20 dollar Vodafone plane… Together it's shared 10+GB and calls too? Sounds too good to be true. Or i misunderstood.

    • +1

You can only share this plan with your wife if she also goes onto a specific shared plan or if she had a valid shareable plan (there are no $20 plans)

You could however do 50+ 30 for a total of 11gb and the rest of plan on both phones.

      • do the shared plan need to be under same account owner?

        • +1

Yes. You have to be on the same account to share.

      • Thanks for the clarification. One question. During the $5 roaming do I get 10gb for use or 6gb?

      • +3

Silly me paying $100/m for the same amount of data on a contract!

Wish this was an option for us high loyalty customers :(

        • My thoughts too; have been with Vodafone since the demise of 3 here.

I currently pay $30 for son's prepaid plan; unlimited calls & sms to national numbers, as well as some 80 minutes I believe international, and 2GB data. I am also paying $35 for my existing $40 Red (postpaid) plan, $400 value of calls/sms but only 500mb data … so the prepaid plan is actually better value, but costing less? I don't use much data myself as I usually make use of wifi or only checking emails.

I did receive an email recently offering me a new phone (several to choose from such as Samsung Galaxy S4) … if I stay on contract with them another 24 months on the new Red $40 post paid plan … will also offer unlimited national calls/sms, 500mb data … but 1GB of data if I sign up by 29th of this month.

Still wondering if I should just switch to a prepaid (albeit 28 days in lieu of full month). Then again, as I can simply cancel my current Red $40 post paid plan (out of contract) and take out a new $40 sim I would have 4GB data instead, but no new phone.

Have recently cancelled our $90 25GB wifi broadband plan as we are now connected to the nbn; $45 for 100GB with Belong … happy so far.

  • Hi OP, very keen to get this plan. Any deals going on if I want to get a handset to?

    • The discount and extra data only applies to the $60 sim at the moment so unfortunately not.

I have a service $55 with 9gb, do I really have to port out then back in to get $50 and 10gb…..time to call them I guess

Wish they'd have a proper online chat not a pot luck system of it appearing now and then

    • +1

No need to port out. Call them and they will switch you to new plan. I did this earlier

    • +6

I called them up and tried to switch. Was connected to an offshore operator and refused to do it because, apparently, it is only for new customers (which does not make sense because T&Cs say otherwise). I requested to be relayed to an Australian agent who was more than happy to do the switch and gave me an additional 1GB for the hassle. So I will be on a $50 plan with 11GB. Win!

      • Well done.

    • I tried the call centre (including sales and saves) and Vodafone store and all of them advised they had no method/authority to provide the additional 2GB of data to make the $60/$50 plan 10GB, due to it being an online offer. Only other option I was provided was the $80 plan for $50 locked in for 12 months with 10GB of data, but I do not want to be locked in for 12 months. Ended up going for the port out / port in option and signed up for new plan over the phone with sales, so it is ready to port into later on (sales were able to provide the additional 2GB so 10GB total for $60/$50 plan). For those reading please note Vodafone do not pro-rata bill so you will be charged your full month even if porting out part way through. Also, the sales guy on the phone advised it was possible to pick up a sim and they could load the new plan onto that sim over the phone rather than waiting for the sim to come in the mail. Now just hoping the port out / port in doesn't take too long and the existing plan doesn't get messed up with the final bill.

  • Might be good for in Vodafone 4g areas. If you travel a bit and want 4g coverage then Vodafone sucks.

  • I have taken with 8 gb two days back.Great plan especially when you have friends and family overseas.

  • Hi Op,
Do you have last deal of $35 unlimited and 300 mins international calls, i am searching with other providers and vodafone if you have any let me know.

    • Check out the Vodafone $30 prepaid plan.

      • i need minimum 3 gb data, its half of it.

  • Included Standard International minutes to selected countries
Included Standard International minutes to selected countriesIf you make a standard voice call to one of the selected countries listed at http://vodafone.com.au/internationalcountries you will automatically be charged $6 which provides you with an additional 60 minutes of standard voice calls to the same selected countries. This $6 charge continues to be applied automatically in recurring increments when 60 minute allowance is exhausted. All calls charged in per minute increments. Premium numbers and video calls are not included. For any calls made to any country not included in the selected countries, standard international charges apply – see vodafone.com.au/idd.

Does it mean you will be charged every 60 min for $6?

    • It works the same way the overage for data does for most carriers these days. If you exceed the 120 minutes international calls to the selected countries (excluding the infinite 10), you automatically get charged another $6 that will allow you to have another 60 minutes international calls.

Great Deal… Just signed up. Thanks OP and Vodafone

  • Damn I'm gonna see how much the new iPhone will cost outright before jumping on to this.

  • OP- You might want to add the Roam Like Home for $5 per day in the added benefits as it is a great feature.

Would of preferred the previous 300 minutes to Any country they used to offer over this 120 minutes to Select Countries and Unlimited to Select Countries. YMMV.

    • With the roam at home, do you get charged if you receive calls overseas? Or is it just that you can use your allowance overseas?

      • Nope you don't incur any charges. You can use your allowance and data from your plan overseas.

        • If you are using the Voda SIM just to receive (e.g. using another SIM, also), receiving texts in a given 24Hrs will not incur the $5 per day increment. Receiving calls, will.

More details in those links above.

        • @Tas:

I understood you will be charged the $5 per day to receive calls but I thought geekhusband was asking if there would be any charges on top of the $5 which there isn't.

        • @Spizz:

No problems. Just pointing out a potential money-saving option.

  • +1

The plan just went downgrade in the IDD minutes…before this, there were 300 international minutes which are now down to 120, and that too for "selected countries" only.

  • I just changed my $ 35 SIM only plan to this one over the phone. I spoke with a friendly and helpful customer rep from Tassie! The process was very easy and it took mins to change my plan to the new one.
    Previously I had
    * 5 Gb data /month
    * 300 mins Int'l calls
    *Unlimited local calls and text

    Now I've got
    *a whooping 10Gb data/month
*Unlimited Int'l calls to 10 countries (China, India, USA, UK, NZ, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and South Korea).
*120 mins Int'l calls to other countries
*Unlimited local calls & text (who calls and text their friends&family these days anyway???)

    It's a bargain I'd say!!!

  • I don't quite get something.
    1. It says used to be 6Gb, now it's 10Gb with the 2Gb bonus. Shouldn't it be 4Gb bonus?
    2. And what happens after 24 months? Does it go back to 6Gb or 8Gb?
    3. What do they mean by "2GB/mth bonus data for use in Oz for up to 24 months". Up to? So it can end earlier?
    4. $5 roaming "Offer ends 1 December 2015, unless extended". What happens after that? No more $5 roaming?

    • Gonna answer my own question:
      1 & 2 & 3: It was increased from 6 Gb (6GB + 2GB + 2GB = 10GB). After 24 months goes back to 6GB.
4: Set to end on that date (Feature been extended before). But it may be extended again. No guarantees.

  • Am on a $50 SIMO contract.
    - Online chat fobbed me off, asked to call 1555.
    - Spoke to Upgrades team. Options are:
    1. Opt out $50 SIM0, pay termination fee, go on online offer.
    2. Pay $65, get 2GB more of data.
Cannot chop and change the offer ie. $50 SIMO, contract, 10GB.

  • I just signed up and moved from boost mobile. Great deal.

  • Anyone know how to contact the Australian customer service centre directly?

I just tried to swap to this plan and the rep said that because I'm already a Vodafone customer on a $50 plan (which had a $10 discount)…that I can only get 8gb instead of 10gb. Sounds pretty suss to me.

These guys must get more commission if they try and screw you out of a few options?

  • Hi - when I added to my cart, it listed a price of $60. What have I done wrong?

    Thanks!

    This deal is terrible

  • can i change my current sim only number to this new$60/50 plan or i have to get a new number to catch the promotion?

  • They can port your number across.

  • Just got this plan. Very happy with it. I also interested in how to contact the tassie call centre direct?

Overseas call centre stuffed me up - online order had an issue and said to contact customer service which was difficult communicating with the overseas staff.

  • Also, if you are after a new phone, best off to add a 24mnth repayment plan to this plan then get one on a contract
