  • It's a TN panel

Though it may offer good resonse time ( 2ms ) , the colour and viewing angles take a hit

Would have bought it for hooking up old PS3 quietly in the study room if not for the TN panel :(

Nothing wrong with a TN panel. They provide the fastest response rates at the lowest price point possible.

You could buy a G-sync monitor with IPS and 1-2ms but would take a hit in your wallet.

This monitor sells for $185 @ MSY, so this is a pretty decent bargain if you want a cheapo LCD to play games on.

      • My previous experiences with TN panels have been poor , that is the reason for the apprehension mate :(

I wonder if I can have a look at this for an eyes-on before buying , but that seems unlikely …

    • the colour and viewing angles take a hit

Who cares about viewing angles on a monitor?
And if you want the best colour, go back to using CRTs. But I don't remember anyone complaining about the reduced colour palette when moving from CRT to LCD.

      • "Who cares about viewing angles on a monitor? "
People who play games with others do , the screen starts to look horrible when they are viewing the game ( A few people do enjoy watching others game )

        • OK, this is new to me. I thought you'd either each have your own screen, or be using a TV-sized display.

        • @manic: This is to fit in a small study when the main TV is being used by someone else , hence the narrow requirement

  • thought on using this as a second monitor? just casual web surfing and streaming while the other monitor is in game or what not

    • +1

Would be perfect. Has HDMI, DVI and VGA so that's bound to fit something on your video card.

Only downside is that if the game doesn't allow full screen windowed then the game will minimise when you click out to the other monitor.
