Sea World Gold Coast Holiday Accommodation 5 Nights $949 @ Cudo

80

Yes - it's back again, as per previous years is the Cudo Sea World/Theme Park Special. Having a family of 4 with kids who love this sort of thing, I personally like this deal and have used it before, and consider the inclusions worthy of a post.

As per the blurb: Five Nights of Family Fun at the Award-Winning Sea World Resort on the Gold Coast! Only $949 for up to Four People with Unlimited Entry to Sea World, Warner Bros. Movie World and Wet'n'Wild Gold Coast, Dolphin Discovery Presentation and lots more.

  • Note the fine print:

A surcharge of $250 per voucher applies for stays during school holiday periods (excluding above blackout dates), payable directly to Sea World Resort & Water Park when booking. Surcharge dates are 12 December 2015 to 26 December 2015; 10 January 2016 to 25 January 2016; 25 March 2016 to 24 April 2016; 25 June 2016 to 16 July 2016; 17 September 2016 to 8 October 2016; 10 December 2016 to 26 December 2016

Would be a good deal if it weren't for that.

    • $250 = makes it cost more than booking directly

    • I personally look for the week prior or post holiday breaks to avoid the extra fees, and it also makes the theme parks quieter as well. We did last years deal only last week and the kids missed 3 days of school (due to long weekend and pupil free day) so were no worse off. Crowds were pretty tame, and Wet'n'Wild we went on a 'cold' day (about 24 degrees and I still got sunburnt) with the kids in wetsuits and had virtually no queues at all. This was our first trip to the theme parks (8 and 11 year old boys) and staying at Sea World was great to be able to walk in early as well as getting to see an extra dolphin show. 2-for-1 on the buffet was pretty reasonable, as well as 2-for-1 cocktails/beers with kids $1/year of age for breakfast/dinner. Kids club was usually $39 per child and despite only having 2 allocated passes they gave us more than we could use, and the kids really enjoyed themselves. Even the kids goody bags ($32.50 each!) had a useful towel and kept them happy, while we got a bottle of wine which was reasonable. For us it was a good experience, although YMMV. As for the extra $250 making it more expensive than booking directly, as far as I can see an equivalent direct booking seems more like $400/night given it includes theme park access.

      • For me living in Brisbane its really not that far to the parks and we would get better value out of the 12 month passes to the parks, though we have stayed at the resort before and it is a good deal. For us Juggling taking 6 weeks off work is hard enough without adding an extra week though

  • Deal is good, and going outside of school holidays the best option for obvious reasons. These deals generate a lot of business for the resort, so be aware of massive lines at the restaruant/heaps of kids/lack of parking, as well as the need to book early for the dolphin experiences as they are very limited.

The resort is ok, a bit basic and needs some freshening up, but good value for the price.

  • I stayed there a couple of years back. Paid extra $100 for a superior room with kitchenette(needed to heat baby food and milk). Overall was a great experience. Except for the influx of Chinese tourists(3 bus loads), which unfortunately made the place extra noisy and less friendly. What made it worse was my clothes kept on going missing in the laundry room. My husband made the mistake to report to the security that our clothes went missing twice in 3 nights, and all he got was a look of amusement. I didn't mind the chance to get new clothes, but it just made me question the overall integrity of some guest.
On a different note, being Chinese myself didn't help as everyone else (including staff) thought we were with the tours and hence got 'special' treatment.
I would definitely go again if i know how to avoid those tours. (hope i am NOT offending anyone here, but Chinese tourist aren't very friendly people).

  • Great deal, thanks! Just booked in part of our holiday next year!

  • Booked this deal today at lunch time. I still haven't received my voucher though. It has not appeared in my Cudo account and it wasn't emailed to me either??? Anyone else have this problem?
