Mitsubishi 2.5kw Split System A/C SRK25ZMA-S $795 @ A/C Online ($715 PM @ Bunnings)

110

First post!

If you're in the market for an aircon, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is the way to go. I've been waiting for a cashback promotion for a while but with the weather getting hotter I couldn't wait any longer.

I was quoted $820 from my electrical wholesaler - trade price.

Managed to get Bunnings to price match/beat Airconditioning-Online bringing it down to $715.50

Receipt

Cheers :)

Haha. Famous quote use to get you to buy from them.

This may be the case but for what it's worth, I'm an electrician and have an account with them.

    • As sincere as Dick Smith's "Mate's Rates" sales. lol

…BTW, I got a special price, just for you, stranger!

  • I don't think you can post price matches as ozbargains. Just fyi.

  • What does it roughly cost to get these installed? We're building at the moment and we were set up to get ducted evaporative but once the land came out we found out it was in a fire zone and we weren't allowed evaporative. So we were going to stick one of these in the main area and one in the main bedroom.

    • I'd be putting aside around $500 per unit for a back to back setup.

    • years ago it was around $600 for ours, last year it was around $600-700 for an easy install.

    • had 2 installed for $350, random installer from the yellow pages… ten years ago.

  • Be mindful mitsubishi heavy industry is totally different from mitsubishi electric. The latter has much better quality.

From what I've read its the other way around, MHI is better than ME.

I've just had a 5KW MHI High Efficiency model installed for $1750 after cashback, love it. I Want to get the wifi module but at ~$300, don't know if I can justify it.

I heard the earth is flat.

        • @pmupsinep: Wow, this place is full of surprises!! šŸ˜

      • It is the other way around.

I own an MHI a/c after researching on whirlpool and I really like it.

Sheets all over the Carrier in the other room.

      • $300 is extortion, try a device like one of these (there was an OzB deal on a similar one recently, can't find it though):

the 2.5kw mitsubishi electric version is soooo good. I think it won the top spot for quietest air conditioner on choice. You really have almost no idea it is turned on when you use the silent mode, it's like it just silently pours cold air out :D. My samsung's silent mode still makes quite a lot of noise in comparison, but mum's mitsubishi is just silent.

So mitsubishi electric 2.5kw all the way.

I can't really hear mine either on its lowest setting, but I'm more concerned with efficiency, of which the MHI SRK50ZMXA-S (mine) won second spot on 'Choice' behind a $3000 Daikin.

    • MHI is better than ME

    Someone might find this useful,

    http://www.currentforce.com.au/room-sizing-guide/

  • I'm not sure about others, but the postage on this unit is $98 to South Australia and $79 to Victoria. Bunnings will almost certainly add this to the price.
I think the moderators really need to check this deal out.

    • you could pick up from bunnings…

      • +2

thats not the point. Bunnings will take into account the postage when doing pricematch from an online shop.. that is if you succeed in PM it. Really depends on which Bunnings these days.

    how does this compare to
    This compare to this?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Fujitsu-C2-5kW-H3-2kW-Reverseā€¦ =$949
    Less 20% off ebay sales CTGG20 = $759
    less $125 cash back http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/cons/groups/public/documents/bā€¦ = $634
    Less 4% cash rewards on original $949 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/215020 = $596.04

    • i believe the Mitsubishi is a better unit the Fujitsu to start.

I was hoping they had big 7-8kw panasonics but they have removed them from the ebay store.

  • I got below quote from a AirCon guy recommended by my friend.

    For new install
    Daikin(inverter )
    12kw single phase
    Including 3XZoning
    Total-$7450

    Any comments on this quote?

    • no idea but get a few quotes and then you will know whats good or not.
be wary of friends quotes, not always great deals - had one quote for a deck and was nearly twice the price of the person that ended up with the work.

    • 3x zoning = three rooms, or three different areas that can have different temperatures?
