I have one and its wifi coverage simply blows my mind. Bought for $205 from the recent deal.

    • I bought one about two weeks ago and I'm pretty disappointed by the coverage. Thought it should cover at least 2 stories of my 3 story house, had to buy 2 wifi extenders as well to do the job

        break down some walls

I think powerline is better than wifi extender.

Power over Ethernet is max 500mb. I bought 2 1900mb wifi extenders

          @emerson:
There are some 1200Mbps Powerline such as Trendnet TPL-420E2K and Tplink AV1200.

      • Have you tried changing the channel of your 2.4Ghz? I suggest you install an app Wifi Explorer on your phone and walk around the house in all corners with your mobile and see what channels your neighbours' routers are using and then you select the one which is less crowded.

        • I am using channel 12 :) but i know i am not allowed to.

    • Same, got it at the last 20% of deal and ended up being around $195 with cash rewards included. It's. Freaking. AWESOME.

    $157 ac3200 router

cheap as, read reviews before you push 'buy'

Where can I buy it for $157?

Please stop reducing the price you actually pay by the voucher value. Math doesn't work like that.

  • CNet's review on this, is quite negative.

Its a good router..firmware not the best..recently discovered it doesnt allow me to access my modem which is on a different subnet.

This is a standard feature in other routers…not the netgear it seems.

Netgear routers are also very likely to have an NSA backdoor if that kind of stuff bothers you.

  • Doesn't look like it will stand up vertically. Will take up more space on my desk than I am willing to let it.

I'll look into AC when they can redesign the unit to be more elegant and practical.

    • There are AC units out there that don't have half a dozen external antennas. I think a few of the D-Links, AirPort Extreme and the new Google one are all pretty nice looking devices with internal antennas. Not sure if their throughput's as good as this one or not, but if form factors a concern they may be worth a look.

Awesome Router. I got one a few weeks ago with the last $50 deal.

    • And available for $256 from PC Byte or Shopping Express

    • Still looks more like a spider than a hawk though.

      • Id still buy a nightspider :p

  • I purchased one a while back, and its been good. There's also third party DDWRT firmware, and ongoing development.
