5% Cashback on Amazon US Thru Giving Assistant till Nov 1

160

After joining the new givingassistant.org cashback site I had a look around and discovered they are offering 5% cashback on Amazon US without category restrictions!

Main link for the deal goes to the the givingassistant.org Amazon cashback page so you can see for yourself.

I have purchased both goods and giftcards from Amazon through this site - both have paid cashback ok.

Update: Just received the following email

"We’ve been so fortunate to be able to offer you a very generous 5% cash back rate at one of your favorite online stores, Amazon.

As they say, all good things must come to an end. We’ve been notified by Amazon that we will no longer be able to offer 5% cash back, effective November 1 at 12:01am Pacific Time."

So I have updated the expiry date for the deal.

Well this isn't unusual - I always start with a clean browser on cashback sites cause you actually want them to track you.

The reasons you give are not ones to worry about.

I ordered so lets see if it works

I wonder what kind of deals they do with Amazon. They are allowed to offer cashbacks on all Amazon fulfilled products, whereas much bigger players — eBates & TopCashback — are only allowed for selected categories.

    • bit like how cashrewards can do all of ebay?

      • PricePal can do all of eBay as well. However yes I think both of them would have special agreement with eBay in order to provide cashback incentive using eBay's partner network program.

The same with Amazon affiliate program — usually they don't allow incentives (for example cashback) to promote their products. Ebates and TopCashback obviously have worked around that getting special agreement with Amazon so they can offer cashback on specific categories. I was just wondering how a smaller cashback player, Giving Assistant, is able to struck a better deal than those bigger established cashback sites.

        • True - only thing I can think of is that has something to do with the charitable aspect of the site.

Or perhaps it's simply a loss leader as part of a marketing strategy.

        • and here's the answer - just got an email:

        • @gringo: Does it mean fall back to original 2.5%, or none altogether?

          @O O:

no idea - even 2.5% is much better than usual. Category restrictions are the main thing.

just signed up using gringo's Referral Links and make a purchase from Amazon, hope it works

    • Thanks! (although it didn't show for some reason - but either way thanks for the thought).

  • thanks

    • used yours also Gringo. so we need over $5- to cash out? so just need 1 purchase to get me over the $5- from the sign up credit

      • Cheers. Yup $5 cashout so anything will get you there. Don't forget to update your paypal account in the settings as they pay out on the 1st of each month.

Also set your paypal acct to USD to avoid currency conversion fees.

        • Do I need to tick yes to living in the United States in settings to be approved?
Also is it easy to set paypal account to US even though it's a Aussie 1?
          Cheers

          @shonofear:

I didn't say I was living in the US - but I entered this setting after the credit was approved. So I assume not, but dunno.

Yep easy to change paypal native currency to USD.

go to wallet -> paypal balance -> manage currencies
then add a new currency (USD) and make primary

Can change back just as easily (though having two accounts is a good move).

        • @gringo:
Thanks, just bought another gift card Through Ga, how long did it take to register/approval?
Will have to do the main Amazon order tomorrow before it ends.

  • Didn't take long - the shopping trip showed straight away and the approval in a day or so.

Will report back after they paypal me.

  • Giving assistant just paypal'ed the amazon purchase and the $5 sign up bonus - so another happy conclusion.

    • nice 1. mine will be next month though
