Stop it! I don't need any more cheap plane tickets!!

  • This is essentially a dupe of https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/215791

    • Hi Battler,

You're right - I actually checked that post and focussed on "Flights from Kuala Lumpur to other Asian destinations will also be on sale" rather than EVERYTHING else. I'll check with the mods, as this post mentions a lot of routes that the original does not.

      • Agree, up to the mods. Arguably no different to the ebay deal post, followed by specific ebay listing posts.
        Keep up the good work.

        • +7

I've reported it, so we'll see what they say (if this all disappears into the ether, then we'll know :) ).

I'm off to have more coffee!

  • LOL at Sydney to KL - 2/3 to 4/3

  • What happens to luggage with air Asia…does it go directly to the final destination or u have to go through immigration/custom and collect baggage and check in again??

    • I'm wondering as well, guess I will find out when I check in but I think it goes to the final destination as it is the same airline for all legs of the trip??

      • +2

If they are separate bookings you will most likely have to collect bags and recheck.

        • +2

          Not most likely, definitely ;)

      According to:
      http://www.airasia.com/au/en/baggage-info/checked-baggage.pa…
      and
      http://www.airasia.com/au/en/our-connections/connecting-flig…
if the flight is part of the "fly thru" service, then you don't have to check your bags in again. Fly Thru is restricted to these airports:
      * Kuala Lumpur, klia2
      * Bangkok, Don Mueang International Airport
(Which is pretty much all the transit airports for flights from Australia.

      • Yes, flythrough is different.

  • Hi do you have any special from Sydney to Japan rtn sometime next year? Thanks

  • Just paid $1500 for return to HCMC, peak time but still .. it hurts.

    • can i ask what period? I am looking to travel SEA around christmas/new years and Thailand is already 2k+ D=

      • Yeah its over Xmas - NYs. Peak time when the kids are off school as well. Only time we can go.

    • There is no peak time for nam. It is monsoon season somewhere and stinking hot somewhere else. There are 3 different weather systems affecting it, beautiful nonetheless.

oops sorry you meant peak time for Aussies, thought you meant for the country

      • I think there is a peak time for VN around the Lunar new year? Prices get jacked up esp. airfares. I know for a fact I am paying an extra $32 a night at the hotel as it's close to new years, Nov prices are lower, so prices do go up during peak times but think that happens everywhere.

        • Yes you are correct, that is a peak time. I like to visit countries when the weather is good so to me personally, weather determines peak time however I remember with Nam, you couldn't plan it like that because if its nice up north, it's wet down the bottom and monsoon in the middle. But like I said, awesome place to visit nonetheless.

        • @robbiejuve: I wish I had the luxury of traveling whenever I wanted. I do actually have this luxury as my work is flexible but only if I want to go alone. So stuck paying high prices at peak times

    • Can I ask which airline you booked with?

      • At the time of booking it was Jetstar, by the time we added the bags, taxes etc etc it was 1500 return, next cheapest was at $2K

        • Wow, that's insane! I booked return with Singapore airlines 6 months ago with a 2 day stopover in Singapore for $1350.00. I'm leaving during peak period to, 24/12-11/01.

    • Ouch! I got return to HCMC (through KL) for ~$450 return from November 25 to December 25

      • Maybe flying on the weekends and coming back in Jan affects prices, plus husband wasn't willing to have a stop over so direct. I just booked recently too??! I'm hurting let me tell you.

Who travels for 30 hours total for 48 hours stay? Please bring some real deals like month stay.

    "Sydney to Hyderabad Flights(iwantthatflight.com.au) $540.
    Dep. 31/Mar/16 Ret. 02/Apr/16 for $540"

    • +1

I know people who do this as they have no time off work and want to join family for a tiny bit of time overseas, maybe not 30 hour flight but 12 hours or so.

      • I was actually adding up time to go and return including time at airport.

        • +1

Yeah I guess a 12 hour flight means add on another 4 - 6 or so for transit times. Worst I have done is 44 hours in transit to Italy but was staying for a while. Though it was a killer. Never again

        • @piggyfund:

          lol.. I can imagine that

    • That was the cheapest dates found for that route. It can't have been too unpopular, because it is sold out now.

Here are some more dates for a weeks stay:
      Dep. Fri 04/Mar/16 Ret. Thu 10/Mar/16 $573
      Dep. Tue 08/Mar/16 Ret. Wed 16/Mar/16 $573
      Dep. Thu 10/Mar/16 Ret. Wed 16/Mar/16 $573

      • Thanks. I see plenty of good deals from you. You are doing a great job.
It would be great if you can post deals to other indian cities as well (obviously if they are on special)
There is large indian community who rely upon travel agents but would benefit if you can provide better deal consistently.

        • Hi amsain15,

Will do & thanks for the compliment.

    • Announcing a sale with a return date 2 days later is trolling as far as I’m concerned. What is the logic for doing this?

If money is that insignificant to you that a 2 day trip overseas is something you would consider then I doubt cattle class on Air Asia is the way you want to do it.

      • +1

I've done Air Asia Mel - KL return for a weekend before. Looked at doing it again this weekend for the MotoGP but left it too late to get really cheap flights. Over Friday afternoon, back overnight Sunday. One day off work. If you get flights at this price, its often cheaper than going to Perth. Good Deal IMO.

      • It was just sample travel dates, and 1 of 24 sets that I posted. There are plenty more dates available. I have updated the OP with more example travel dates.

  • Planning to go to a quick visit to penang by booking separately Melb-KL, then KL-Penang as its cheaper. Do you guys think a three hour window is too tight to pick up my luggage, store it at KLIA2 locker, and check in for the flight? Don't think it'll be a problem if AA runs on schedule but i'm screwed if there is a delay

  • Hi IWTF

Any deals for Melb - Thailand over the christmas/NY period?

  • How reliable and safe with AirAsia? so hard to convince my wife to fly with budget airlines, but the price is really so tempting …

    • +1

Not many have fallen off the skies

    • I do about 20 flights a year with them and have done since inception.

  • March and April are a bit far away.. Anything in Jan/Feb time frame? Many thanks!!

  • Beijing deals would be great!

  • +2

If you can pay using paypal please check the price against the AirAsia website as you will be able to avoid the CC fees and the final price may be cheaper.

Just a warning with booking through IWTF. If you want to change a booked flight, you'll have to pay a re-booking fee to the agent and to the airline.

This meant when I booked my SQ flight and had to add another flight, I had to pay $50 to the agent on top of $50 to SA.

  • Any specials to vietnam around august-october 2016?? I had a look in august but was around $400+

    • $400 return is an amazing price!! I use to work in travel a long time ago and flights are released 9 months in advance but this may have changed, anyway, you are still a year away so you can take advantage of any sale that pops up in the next few months but I think $400 return is great. I'm paying over $100 just to fly within VN one way.

      • But looking at OzB history it regularly falls around $320-$350 so hoping to wait for one of those sales. Jetstar has a sale on now for around $340 but not the dates i wanna go :/

  • Please post all titles from Sydney thanks ;)

Or add from Perth to the title.

Every time I see these posts I get an exhilirating feeling followed by depression.

  • Hi, i m trying to book flights from SYD- KUL but can not get airfare $334.
