Total $837.89 AUD delivered
Cheapest in stock on Staticice $1095 @ PLE ($257.11 difference)

  • $20 mail in rebate? not sure if this doable for non-US residents.

Always a small risk of warranty issues requiring international shipping if gigabyte won't deal with it locally but high end nvidia cards are pretty solid from my experience.

Consider waiting for Pascal (ETA 2H 2016) unless you really need a new gpu now.

    • +5

Well if we were to wait for new cards everytime, you will never buy a new card.

I bought strix 980ti few weeks ago to replace my 670 sli. Extremely happy with the purchase.

^ This…there is always new tech on the horizon, at some point you just need to suck it up and be happy with what's out.

        • +1

980Ti is a last stop gap on existing tech, it's the last of its kind. Essentially can be viewed as ironed out the kinks etc but the Pascal with new tech will not be far away Q2 realistically next year and Nvidia saying 10x performance. I'd wager half that at best and will be more tailored for 4k setups.

Buying day 1 tech is best since you'll get the longest lifecycle out of it. I.e Intel 6000 chips now would be ideal to buy, look at how long the 4000's were around.

        • @xdivino: interesting we are looking at that much of an improvement in tech, do you have a link to further reading?

        • @Infinite Monkee:

          http://wccftech.com/nvidia-pascal-gpu-manufactured-tsmc-16nm…

Marketing fluff but still, if we can get around 3x 980TI perf on Pascal 4k 60fps should be good to go on single chip/card.

        • @xdivino: Hm I don't know. Nvidia always boast massive performance gain for every new chipset but ends up to be quite small boost. Besides a year old carsds an easily be sold on eBay

          @Letrico:
Yeah i'm not doubting their boasting, but the tech is a generational leap so it would be silly to not expect a notable leap in performance especially with the massive uptake of 4k and planning for 8k support for industry.

It's kinda right in the middle at the moment, almost half way to new and halfway past launch.. its true u could sell to those looking for cheaper sli as bridge solutions too. wouldn't be much of a hit with this kind of price

        • +2

@xdivino: Yeah I was looking at the average price of a Strix 980ti and it was around 1.1k average in staticice and I got mine around $815 from amazon few weeks back. Like a whopping $300 savings and I was quite sure I can sell it out probably 700-800 next year if needed to upgrade.

Using 670s with 2GB ram is really hard on a 1440p screen. Not enough vram and to be honest don't want to deal with SLI anymore.

There is also this one for a little less: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YU72IS6 @ $647.99 USD

    • Much better to pick up the one with 3rd party cooler. Cooler and performs better than a reference card.

    • Edit whops double post

    • +3

If happy with reference card, you may as well get this ZOTAC: http://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-DisplayPort-Graphics-ZT-… @$619.99 USD. Comes to AUD 782.49 using AMEX and Amazon currency converter for me. (Also ZOTAC with custom cooler is $639.99 USD. It gets great reviews too: http://bfy.tw/2PJo)

  • Good Deal. For those in the shopping in lower price brackets, there are many other good deals on Amazon. I currently have a AMD r9 380 2GB in transit purchased for ~$208AUD delivered. It sells for ~$300 in Australia. Price has risen again now, but it pays to check site regularly.

  • You can get msi 980ti from msy for $979 so $1095 isn't correct unless you must have gigabyte g1. Which makes no sense. So you save more like $130 risk warrenty and might have to wait longer. Other than those minor details great deal.

    • But what is the clock rate of the card? There are some 980ti with the same clock rate as a reference card. Factory overclocked version usually cost a little bit more

      • It's higher than factory but either way of all the overclocked cards you need to manually over clock them anyway because they are all overclocked modestly and to different rates.

Buy cheapest with custom cooler + overclock yourself to 1400 (some go to 1500) = winning

  • Which non hybrid 980ti is best bang for buck to get on Amazon us?

    • Best performance card is strix 980ti overclocked. Be careful there is 2 listing for strix 980ti and make sure you pick Amazon as the seller. Price difference is like 10 usd. Get the overclocked version if you are not going to Overclock yourself.

All the price are similar to each other so in the end choose the brand you like most. Don't forget to check the clock speed. There are 2 models for each type. Factory overclocked and standard so you gotta decide if you want factory overclocked or self over clocking

      • Thanks for the info. Are the gigabytes anygood? And also EVGA and MSI? Which looks the best with the LED lighting etc

  • Is it free to apply for an amex card? Im really interested in this deal but unsure of how to get the discount.

    • have to have an amex card registered as your primary payment method with your Amazon account, discount automatic applied at checkout.
