Lowest price ever on camelcamelcamel! But lousy AUD exchange rate at the moment kinda kills the deal a little :(

This is the older model (X2 is out but also $50 more expensive).
I have a set and the audio quality is superb, long 8 hour listening time and very reliable bluetooth connection.

White model is supposed to be $89.99 but out of stock from Amazon.

Edit: Don't forget 15% off using Amex thanks to googoogaga!

Hope you haven't bought a pair yet because you forgot the AMEX promo for 15% off

    • Thanks for the tip! I bought mine earlier this year using amazon gift vouchers :)

I've had this model for about 2 years and they're still going strong. Tangles and sweat isn't a problem. I go to the gym all the time, have run marathons with these and they lasted the whole time. Product page says 8 hours battery life, but if you want that, you have to turn down the volume (ie. mid volume on the headphones, turn up volume on your phone etc to full). Otherwise you're looking at about 4+ hours of battery.
Excellent headphones and i fully recommend them to anyone wanting wireless headphones.

If anyone want to try before buying, just get one at Apple store, buy, use, enjoy it and refund before two weeks for full refund guaranteed no questions asked.

Have owned these for 2 years also. Great quality headphones in all regards. Worth the price of admission.

  • The White is $89.99 from Amazon but temporarily out of stock.

  • This is probably the second best consumer level sports earphones, beat only by the newer model.

  • Have one pair of these and two pair of Plantronics Backbeat Go 2. The battery life of the Jaybirds is unbeatable and the reason I bought them despite already owning the Plantronics.

But if you can get by with about three hours use, the Plantronics are a better buy (currently $79 at JB), as there's otherwise very little difference IMHO. Similar sound quality, similar ergonomics. Apart from the battery life, I actually slightly prefer the Plantronics (matte rubber buds instead of smooth glossy, no annoying beep when using the headset's volume controls).

    • have you used them for running. The jaybirds come with a lifetime sweat proof warranty

      • It's mainly the Plantronics that cop the sweat, as I use them for exercise at home, while the Jaybirds are the ones I grab for day trips and the like because of the battery life.

I use Comply tips instead of the silicon ones. Worthwhile investment - creates such an awesome seal and doesn't fall out even without the wings. Sound quality is much better as well because of the seal.

      • hey, what size should i order the Comply's in? are most males generally size large? also what model Comply do you use.

  • What's the sound quality like on wireless models in comparison to wired? I have some wired seinheiser I wear to the gym but would love a wireless pair if they sounded close to as good.

    • +2

I find them really good. Very full sound, nice mids and highs… bass is ok not overpowering.
I've had plenty of wired headphones and earphones, sennheiser, ultimate ears, etc. and these easily compare and I can listen to them all day.

The key to getting the best sound quality is getting a good seal - if they buds don't fit and seal in your ear properly it will sound like crap. I use Comply tips and totally recommend them over the silicon ones which tend to fall out.

  • Just started looking into Bluetooth headphones (although probably over ear ones for air travel). Can you use multiple headphones with a single device? i.e. on a plane can 3 of us have bluetooth headphones while watching a movie on the macbook which would be a big step up from the tangle of cords and adaptors that we currently struggle with.

    • +1

You can pair one device to multiple headphones and one pair of headphones to multiple devices…
But you can only have one pair relationship actively playing at any one time.

Would be nice to have though!

    • for flights i strongly recommend getting bose qc-20i (or the 25s if you prefer over-ear)

  • I just bought Jlab Epic Bluetooth (The Best Wireless Exercise Headphones thewirecutter.com) yesterday.
    AUD 151.14 + shipping AUD 7.28 - AmEx Card AUD 22.66 = AUD 135.76

We’ve heard in the comments that some people are experiencing issues with our top wireless exercise pick, the JLab Epic Bluetooth. We hear you, and we’re on it. We are: 1) Doing additional testing on our own. 2) Talking to JLab to find out what’s going on. Amazon, it seems, is also doing some digging, as the black Epic BTs are not currently available. So far JLab seems to be making exchanges and handling the return process really well. However, we don’t want it to take more than one try to get headphones that work for you. So until we get this fully investigated, if you need Bluetooth headphones asap and are concerned, go for our #2 pick, the Jaybird Bluebud X.

  • I had a pair of these but the battery died about a month after the warranty had expired. I thought they were awesome though so I bought a pair of X2's to replace them.

    • Do you notice any difference between the X and X2?

      • Also interested. Debating whether to go with the newer model (although I really like the camo colour in the X).

      • +2

I think they're a little nicer aesthetically. And the wings you put on them to stay in the ear are a bit more rigid so they stay in place better. It also seems a bit easier to fit my comply eartips on them, before you really had to force it to get them on. As for sound quality etc. I don't notice much of an improvement but they sounded great anyway so no complaints there. Apparently they've used higher quality inner components for Bluetooth etc. but since my bluebuds worked fine anyway it's hard for me to comment on improvements there.

        • Thanks, did you order the X2 from Amazon?

        • @luztra:
Nah I got them from www.fitshop.com.au which are actually a bit cheaper than Amazon(not including the 15% Amex thing). They were a little cheaper when I bought them a couple of months ago but compared to other Australian shops they're still a relatively good price.

@fatpizza: Thanks. I don't have AMEX anyway. Might for the X2.

        • @fatpizza:
I went with the X2. Thanks!

        • @luztra: I actually have the X at the moment but it plays up sometimes. It's still fine but as this is a good price I'm wondering if I should get a spare pair now.

The jlab epic mentioned above is the same price, but the complaints about dropouts make me wary. I rarely get dropouts on the X.

  • Thanks! My Logitech ones that I got in Japan broke last week and I was looking for a pair to replace them.
    This looks pretty good.

My question is … how does kpop sound on it, cuteseal hyung

has anyone had any issues with replacements/warranty with this company Jaybird?
ive been reading mixed opinions on their customer service side if something goes wrong with the earphones.
i was going to buy the x2 from this ebay seller from US
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/JayBird-Midnight-X2-Wireless-Blue…
only a few left now though….
will warranty be a problem if buying from a random seller who's not an authorised re-seller?
even on fitshop website they say to contact Jaybird directly for warranty claims etc. would that mean sending the product to US ?
thinking at least with Amazon they will prob pay for shipping back to US…
    thanks

    • Honestly, I would not buy from a seller that is not authorised, purely because of the cost and possible issue with warranty.
Also, read the feedback on that seller.

      • yea, will get from amazon now

        • Yes it is a good choice. I was going to go wit that seller you put the link to - I sent them an email three days ago and never got a reply but looked at the feedback and thought better of it. I ordered the X2, but cancelled and ended up getting the X due to the price difference. :)

        • yea good call, i was aways a little hesitant on the ebay x2, glad they sold out now

  • So these or X2 or Jaybird Bluebud X would be in the top 3?
Been looking a set for a while, fitment/comfort options (hooks/fins/etc) then sound quality are what I'm looking for.

White model in stock again at $89.99

    • Add the comply foam ear tips to get the price over $100 so you can use the Amex 15% off.

Means that for +$3 AUD you get a set of foam tips which is usually $14.95 USD.
