Woolworths Everyday Rewards replaced with 'Woolworths Rewards' (Starts Wed 28/10)

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Got this email today.

Not sure if more of a forum post, but surely WOW will get the balance between points/worthiness of scanning your card right this time and take us into bargain territory!

If good, this deal will save you $$$. My guess is they'll have great offers leading up until Christmas - to ensure there's a big uptake.

I liked the sounds of this which made me post the deal:

When your Woolworths
Dollars balance reaches $10
scan your card to automatically
get $10 off your next eligible shop°
in participating stores*.

From the email I received today:

On Wednesday (28th), Everyday Rewards will become Woolworths Rewards. Your new card will arrive shortly, so look out for it in your mailbox. In the meantime, just keep scanning your current card.

Earn Woolworths Dollars and get money off your shopping

1. Shop

You'll earn Woolworths Dollars on a wide range of orange ticket products in participating Woolworths supermarkets and BWS stores.

2. Scan

The amount you earn will be added to your Woolworths Dollars balance when you scan your card at the checkout.

3. Save

When your balance reaches $10, scan your card to automatically get $10 off your next eligible shop in participating stores.* No points. No vouchers. No hassle.

They'll never tell you who they 'asked'. It's marketing gimmick speak for 'We did our own research and…". It's currently called 'Project: I hope this all blows over' at WOW headquarters I bet.

@rawm: The amount of people posting on their facebook page is unbelievable.

They have screwed up big time!

Millions of people have Everyday Rewards cards, so more than likely they just got a survey company to randomly survey x number of people. They couldn't ask everyone, too big a task.

And by the way, I am NOT defending Woolies. I wasn't asked what I wanted and I am ropable. I want my QFF points.

bought crumpets the other day, round ones were full price but gave you 81cents reward, the square ones were on sale with no reward. I bought the square ones.

  • my wife just uses the cardboard card from years ago - never registered and doesnt want to - she just has it to get the fuel discount on a card rather than a collection of dockets..

so what happens now - does she need a whole new card?

    • She'll have to register for a Woolworths Rewards Card through the website and they'll mail her out a card I'd say…

  • You can see the other orange offers inside the woolworths portal.

I don't think the customised offers are customised at all (are they?), because my local store just puts up the stickers for these customised offers all the time. They seem to match the ones on the portal. e.g. the Jam…

So I actually used my card for the first time today. Got easterncultre's https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/218182 14X Poppin Popcorn for $14 (get $10.08 WOW credit). If I buy staple items from WOW - eggs bread, eggs, milk for $10, it means the popcorn was about 28c each! Thanks ec!

Merged from New Woolworths Reward-Is It Better?

Woolworths is changing their reward scheme to collecting points from orange stickers tag to accumulate to $10 and you get this $10 deducted from your next shop. I had been monitoring the prices with orange tags and im sure i can get them cheaper from coles or iga or Woolworths when its on special. So my question is: is this new reward scheme a better deal for the consumers or for Woolworths. Consumers are buying items at a higher price to collect the dollar points which probably equate to a similar price when the item is on special.
Woolworths is also removing points for Qantas from next year. This means if i spend $50 on items with no orange tag i get nothing whereas in today's case i will still get 20Qantas points.

  • I'm confused by the win $10 thing. In the competition terms it nominates a draw date but the leaflet I got says to check receipt to see if I won.

Yes the terms and conditions are very misleading and confusing.

Part of the name of the competition is "Scan". It means that in order to find out if you have won you have to scan your card for a transaction.

It's not a random thing when you get to the register, like some competitions that have x number of winners per day. WW know whether you win or lose but will only tell you if you scan your card.

They say that there is a new draw each week. What I'd like to know is if you won in a previous week but didn't scan your card that week, do you still get the credit on your account or do you have to scan each week or lose prizes from previous weeks. I'm scanning my card at the moment on the occasional time I go to Woolworths but I'm not going to be using the other cards from our family members until they send out offers where I know we can save more by using the system.

Wow, feels like their marketing department has a personality disorder.

It's like someone thinks up a good incentive then some scrooge guy edits all the joy out of it.

        • +1

          Yep, completely agree!
          I'll just C and P what I wrote earlier:

'Think about it. 100 staff in Sydney are paid $80k+ plus in marketing to work at WOW and come up with awesome ideas. 1 person says "Hey! I've got a great idea. Let's make a reward scheme that's more simple! Let's remove 3rd party deals like QFF and just…." And then the other 99 tell him to shut up and disagree with his idea because it means they'd all be out of a job as it's clear, cost effective and would reduce bureaucracy.

So they then all get together and create this convoluted and over complex Woolworths Rewards program that secures their jobs for another 12mths, but because of it's complexity it bamboozles customers and has little or no uptake. This will then fast track WOWs demise.'

What a load of - this new rewards card is ! Spent $ 200.00 on shopping & received 30cents on my rewards card - Woo -Hoo - I don't think. Very little has these " orange" marks to gain money offer that you would pay out for as it's overpriced in the first place & can be purchased elsewhere far cheaper.
Also, now we all apparently have to look out for pink stickers as well as the orange ones to gain money saving products - what are they doing - going through the colour spectrum ? Remember that old song re the rainbow colours? I could sing the rainbow too - but at the moment my choice would be the purple part, as a bruise, as they are not doing anything towards gaining customer loyalty with this ridiculous sales scheme.

  • spend $4 today at ww and was surprised to get a $10 rewards bonus!
