How cheap can these things get? Not sure how this compares to its competition. According to posts below only has a 3 cell battery which doesn't last long (look for at least a 6 cell one).

  • Pretty good price, I think they're ridding stock to prepare for new 2010 models…

  • the question is do it have bluetooth and how many cells of battery ?

  • +2

    only 3 cell battery… therefore a so-so deal. (Not -, not +)

  • And its a 270 not a 280 =\

  • do u guys think this is better than the coles acer em250 ? i mean the performance, since price is obviously this one better by $40

I won't recommend any netbook with 3 cells battery. They are meant to be carried around freely without the adaptor. 3 cells normally last only around 2 hours. And to purchase another 6 cell battery cost at least $100. So negative for me (by the way I am speaking from experience because I have gotten a Toshiba NB200 with 3 cell).

The thing to do here would be to warn about the 3 cell issue, maybe request it be made clear in the bargain post.

A negative implies this is poor value compared to equivalent netbooks. Which it isn't.

You can get the 1005HA for just under 400AUD (probably even less now), which comes with bluetooth, n280 cpu and 6cell battery. Compared to that, this model is poor value.

I won't vote one way or another, but it's not really a great deal. Besides which, the 1201Ns will be out soon meaning these old things will drop considerably more.

        • Um… where?

Staticice says $444 is the best price for that model.

          While I agree this isn't a great deal, it's a decent one.

          • @[Deactivated]: There are quite a few BINs on ebay that come to 390AUD, or you could import from the US for a little over 400 (about 410AUD) — covered by the ASUS International EEEPC warranty (3 service centers down the east coast of Aus).

Whilst they are not as low as this particular model, there is better value elsewhere. (And there will continue to be better value in the coming weeks, which is what I'm really getting at!)

  • Guys, I have been hunting for a new Netbook upgrade awhile now. Just my 2 cents.

    1. Wait till end of this week as new models with new CPUs are hiting Aussie market. I have seen few in JBs/HN/etc. Mainly Dell, Acer & HP. Still waiting for other players such as Asus.

    2. This is also the reason, they want to get ripe of old stocks. So perfect time to grab a great bargain.

For me, I want new model, BT, WiFi N, and 6 Cell. I agree, these things need a 6 Cell. My Asipre One is a 3 cell. Good and bad. Bad, when I don't have powerpoint!!!

well that was pointless - what would a person looking at a bargain netbook now want to do with an overpriced unreleased glorified ebook reader?

      • The new netbooks from 350-450. still around the same price but with new hardware. Why not?

  • Well I don't think it's a deal because any netbook with 3 cell battery should be around the $299 mark (that's what I have gotten for my NB200). Anything more should come with a 6 cell battery. You can easily get a 6 cells netbook for $350 nowadays.

    • Where can you get 6 cell netbooks for $350?

  • I have the 1001HA model, and it has bluetooth and battery lasts around 5 hours. Pretty good unit, I just dont like the screen size, so still use my old acer laptop.
