Best Video Game to Start with?

Hello everyone,
I wanted to start playing video games in XBONE. Please suggest some games to start with..

I don't have an XBONE so I don't know those games but your best bet is to look for things that are the same theme as movies or books that you enjoy. Something could have the best gameplay in the world but if it doesn't interest you then it won't be worth anything.

Just read the reviews of games and find 1 that interests you. I dont believe either console has that OMG kinda game that everyone loves & must have yet like Golden Eye #LongLiveN64

If you want an outside opinion from someone who doesn't own an Xbox One, I really really really want to play the Halo MCC campaign mode followed up by Halo 5. Haven't played Halo since i finished 1 and 2 as a kid. While I'm enjoying my PS4, I'd be lying if i said i don't miss the Halo experience.

Sunset Overdrive also looks pretty fun.

    • +1

      YES this.

      The Halo Campaign

Get Halo 5. I'm gonna order a XBONE after my Uni exams just for Halo and Forza

    • Hehe I would like to play HALO but not really sure if I had the motor skills to play video games. MOst of the time I watch my friends play…I try but mostly fail…But really want to experience the feeling of getting lost in a video game

    • +1

      gotta agree with you there.
We have a Playstation 3 and think it's great and just starting to think about updating, was automatically looking at ps4 but Halo5… brings back memories of it back on original Xbox . Great game.

Depends on what gaming genre you enjoy playing. Here's a few solid titles to start you off:
GTA V, Witcher 3, MGS V, NBA 2k16, Destiny & expansion (these aren't Xbone exclusive so you may have played or seen them on other platforms)

Already mentioned in other comments - Forza 6, Halo 5

    • Thank you …I will check them….Witcher sounds good :)

      • +1

Having completed witcher 3 on pc, I can highly recommend the game for a great story, and not needing the fastest skills, but more of a puzzle and task and fighting game. I'm too old to kickass at fps anymore :(

I'd get a Wii U and play some Nintendo games like Mario etc

    • +3

      Never tried that before….

      • +5

Nintendo games are great for beginners.

        • -5

Perfect for kids, I'm not complaining about that. The guy asked for Xbone though, nobody asked about WiiU.

        • +4

@Where's_That_Cake: Plenty of intelligent adults play Nintendo games. People have mentioned other systems such as PC but I don't see you berating them. Fanboys….

        • -7

@subywagon: lol, i don't even own an Xbox. It's you bringing up irrelevant subjects. Hypocrite.

        • @subywagon: hmm, the pc comment was only about a game, not the platform, so not really an equivalent as you suggest.

        • @Where's_That_Cake:
The majority of gamers these days got their education on Nintendo "kids" games and you need to start somewhere. I actually feel sorry for the kids these days being thrown into such complex and demanding console games, such a steep learning curve. Gotta learn how to jump over barrels first

  • +2

    Old school - pong.

    • ahh man. that was, is and will be the greatest

  • +3

    GTA V and MGS V

    • +2

      you have clasic VVVVVVV syndrome

      and you forgot Halo V

  • -5

Fifa 16 - only game a man needs

    • +3

When his dog breaks the frisbee maybe…

    • +3

Am I less of a man if I don't like sport?

      • yes.

        And even less for asking.

        • Am I more of a man if I was a woman and I liked sport?

    • +2

Fifa 16 - only game a man needs

OP might not be a man.

      • Ha ha I am :O

      • +1

anonymous once said "God greated MAN, then wo-MAN, and then sports"

    • Until next year, then it's FIFA17. If that's the only game a man needs, I would like to be disincluded from the title of 'man', thankyou very much.

  • +3

Have you played games on any other console or pc or mobile?

Will you be playing online or offline? With or without another person on split screen?

Without any details i would suggest downloading a few demos and see which ones take your fancy.

    • I used to play Mummy game in PC but mostly die :(… my brother used to help me clear the
      levels..

I will be playing offline mostly i think

Single player game..I don't want to slow the other person…

  • +1

    Halo 5.

  • +2

This isn't on the Xbox One but you should check out Skyrim if you like single players, fantasy games and games where you can get lost in.

    • +1

Just so he can get jelly and return to square one looking for an XBONE game?

  • +2

My picks are: Halo MCC, Halo 5, Forza 6, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare, Battlefront and Rise of the Tomb Raider :)

  • +4

Download a few demos of different game types such as:

    Dying light
    Forza 6
Lego (jurassic park / batman / hobbit / marvel)
    Bladestorm
    Ride
    NHL
    UFC
    Zoo tycoon

To see what you enjoy more.

Also if you are an xbox live gold subscriber you get access to some free full games and discounts. Similar can be done with EA Access as well.

If you want to experience the feeling of being lost in a video game maybe try an open world game. If you like fantasy type things i would suggest the witcher and dragon age. Sounds likes youre a bit worried about difficulty and i havnt played these games but im assuming witcher is difficult.

Maybe the upcoming fallout 4 will be a good choice for you. Slide down the difficulty and use vats in combat and shouldnt be too difficult. I had the experience of being truly engulfed by fallout 3, i think from october to december in 2012 i sunk in about 120 hours.

I would suggest farcry or assassins creed as well, they would be quite fresh to a new gamer and be able to draw you in. Hope that helps a little happy gaming :)

    • Thank you …I will try Fallout and Assassins creed. :)

      • +1

If you try Assassin's Creed, Black Flag is the best one on Xbox One, and also the cheapest now. Unity is okay, quite a bit harder. I haven't tried the new one Syndicate yet, but start with Black Flag, because it's cheap and great.

        • +3

I used to sail around just so i could listen to my favourite sea shanty

    • I too can not wait until fallout! Its been a looong wait since I played 3.

Looking forward to finding a fifa 16 disk out in the wasteland to frisbee to the new pooch side kick ;)

And OP i recommend going online, it turns the games into a whole new angle having human team mates / opponents and you can team up with others to get to the end.

All the best with the new XBONE and welcome back ţo gaming :)

This is my lazy response (I don't have an Xbone, so can't comment anyway), sorry hehehe:

Make sure you download the free Games With Gold every month if you have a gold membership on your Xbox.

You also might get your money's worth if you subscribe to EA Access, where you pay a monthly fee to access EA Games (e.g. FIFA, Battlefield, Dragon Age etc.)

  • +1

Just interesting, why Xbox One specifically? A bit strange if you don't already have any ideas what to play. Have you already got it? Was it a gift? What age group are the games to target?

  • Some other suggestions not made yet, not too hard, fantasy or similar setting, easy to get lost in (and not too long):

    • Ori and the Blind Forest
    • Life Is Strange
    • Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
    • The Swapper
    • Child of Light
  • For XBOne, I would say Halo to give you a taste of shooters, Rayman Legends for some platforming (also an excellent local multiplayer) and maybe Sunset Overdrive for something in between. The latter two should be pretty cheap.

  • If you like games that don't take themselves too seriously and are similar sandbox-esque styles to GTA then I recommend the Saints Row series. I started with SR3 and had an absolute ball with it. Then I played SR4 and enjoyed it immensely too.

    I also recommend these:

Mass Effect trilogy (I started on 2 but if you want to keep your character through the series start with 1)
    Halo series

  • Fallout 4 is a must, pre-order from jb for 59, pick it up on the 10th, halo 5 would be good and is an Xbox exclusive, destiny is one of my favorites you get a lot of time for the money but its very social, Assassins creed syndicate just came out too, might still be able to get it at target for 50 after the recent discount.

Remember the new consoles aren't just for games as well, you can use Stan Netflix through them and use them as a media center etc

  • The Last of Us is still my all time favorite.

    • +1

      He have an Xbox-one…

  • another +1 for Fallout 4, if its anything like FO3, you'll definitely enjoy it. JB hifi has it for 59$ preorder currently which is very attractive..however I'm waiting until my uni exams finish :(

Anyone else keep reading it as X-BONE?
    Damn you OP!!!

    • I am pretty sure thats why other say Xbone as well.

      • +1

        oh… T_T

        • +1

          xBONE

        • +1

          @lolmao:
          so should it be xb1

  • +1

Don't get SSF4 if your the competitive type, you may not want to play any other game once you start.

  • If you are just starting maybe a Lego marvel game to get used to buttons etc, I like them because they are strategy games and I know the characters . I cannot get into most xbone games because my kids just laugh at how bad I am but they like far cry, gtav, assassins creed, fallout, destiny ,call of duty etc too much killing for me.

  • +1

Some suggestions, since you love fantasy:
    - Diablo 3
    - Dragon Age inquisition
    - Fallout IV when it comes out on the 10th of Nov

There's plenty of great suggestions in here.

    • +1

      Thanks Gearhead

      • +1

        Cheers mate!

On a side note, Diablo 3 is a great game for "coop couch playing". It's got split screen coop play, so its really fun if you have friends over/ want to play with your SO.

    The Witcher 3

I'm not normally into these sort of games and thought i wouldn't like it, but it was so hyped i bought it anyway.

Im so glad I did cause the game is incredible. Probably my favourite game of all time.

  • +2

    Gets me everytime. X-Bone.

  • +1

Get the GOTY - Game of the year awarded games

  • +1

just get a ps4 after you neg this comment to infinity

  • +2

Best videogame to start with? Like, of all time?

Probably Tetris. That's what I started with. Tetris seems a long time ago now, as I look out of my Dwarf Fortress cave.

  • I'd recommend Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons too.
Its under ten hours, and has some fantastic gameplay mechanics, you use one thumbstick to control each brother through obstacles and some simple puzzles.
Absolutely prepare a box of tissues though :D

    • I mean, 3 hours is definitely under ten, so you weren't wrong, but I probably would've used a smaller number than 10.

It's still great, and due to its age now, it's frequently on special. Saying "Due to its age" about a game from 2 years ago makes me feel old, but I got this for 2 bucks a couple of sales ago.

On the sadness scale, I would say it's more sad than The Last of Us but less heart destroying than Undertale.
