Bridgestone Tyres: Buy 3 Get 1 Free Tyres - Bridgestone Potenza, Ecopia & Super Cat

1000

Looks like Bridgestone are doing their Buy 3 Get 1 Promotion again for November and December, but this time they've also included the Potenza range (RE002/RE003/S001/etc) which means it's great value as the Potenza range usually only goes on the 3+1 deal once a year around March/April.

Looking at the Jax Tyres website, this means a set of RE003 in 235/40R18 is down from $820/set to only $615/set. I was also quoted $199 a tyre from a Bridgestone Select before the promo started, but I'm not sure if they'd put the price up for the promo (RRP on this size & tyre is $299)

By taking part in the 4th tyre FREE offer participants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
The promotion commences at 9.00am on Sunday 1 November 2015 and closes at 5:00pm on Thursday 31 December 2015 (“Promotion Period”) and entry is open to Australian residents only.
To be eligible to receive the 4th tyre free, you must visit a participating store and purchase a set of 4 or multiple of 4 Bridgestone Potenza passenger tyres, 4 Bridgestone Ecopia passenger and SUV tyres or 4 Supercat passenger and SUV tyres in one transaction per vehicle.
Bridgestone Potenza tyres are suitable for certain passenger vehicles only. Bridgestone Ecopia or Supercat tyres are suitable for certain passenger and SUV vehicles only. Seek advice from your local store or by using the tyre search function here.
The offer applies only to the purchase of tyres described in Clause 3 above, in one retail transaction during the Promotion Period and strictly while stocks last. Not all sizes available at all locations.
The 4th tyre FREE offer is not available on any other tyres manufactured or distributed by Bridgestone.
Available at participating Bridgestone Select, Bridgestone Service Centre and Bridgestone Tyre Centre stores only.
Subsidiary companies, retailers and agencies of Bridgestone Australia Ltd., are ineligible for the 4th tyre FREE offer.
Government, wholesale and fleet customers of Bridgestone Australia Ltd. are ineligible for the 4th tyre FREE offer.
Eligible customers will receive the 4th tyre free off the invoice at the time of purchase.
This promotion cannot be combined with any other offer including, but not limited to motoring club discounts, VIP card programs and all other promotions.
The promoter’s decision on all matters relating to the 4th tyre FREE offer is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
Bridgestone privacy policy is available here.
The promoter is Bridgestone Australia Ltd. 196 Greenhill Road, Eastwood, SA 5063 ABN 65 007 516 841

Jax Tyre's price has actually stayed the same, but thanks for your greatly appreciated input jv!

        • +6

From experience, they usually have just put up their prices from their previous so called 'sale'… It pays to do your research before buying, blindly thinking this is a bargain…

Jax's price was $205 a tyre before the start of the promo and is still the same - I've done my research, I bought new tyres a week ago and was looking at that price then. Obviously your experience is wrong.

        • -7

          @dennis.s.s:

          Obviously your experience is wrong.

Nope, Jax was about $300 more for 4 tyres…

        • +1

@jv: have to agree with you jv, looked at similar promotions before and it is common for retailers in my area to jack prices up first in the past. That is my experience and fact. Nothing against OP, but you can't say someone else's experience and research is wrong just because you you had a better outcome then some of us.

      • My Potenzas are rarely on sale this is a great deal for me.

        $1800 from Holden for 4

        Usually $1516 from Jax

        Now $1137 for 4

Was just about to try a different brand, but this deal could be enough to get it over the line.

        Edit: 245/40R19

  • This is a great deal. They ran it about a year ago. I spent the same amount on tyres as I had intended to before I knew of the deal, and just upgraded to a MUCH better tyre model than I would otherwise have purchased.

  • thx for the post.
this promo came too late for me though…..
changed all my tyres to Primacy 3ST this time last year…..
was looking at S001, quoted, i think, $218/each(235/45/R17) when buying 4….

  • Costco regularly has promotion like $70 off 4 tyres, anyone knows which would be a better deal?

    • Depends how much you love you car…

    • Depends on the pricing the the tyres you are after.
The recent tyresales code for $65 discount off four tyres could also be a good deal for some https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/217732
I purchased using that code and the total will be just over half what the same tyres costs locally in Ballarat regional vic.

  • My parents have a 2000 model Nissan X-Trail SUV, mainly drive it around Sydney suburbs with very occasional off-road driving. Is the Ecopia or the Supercat more suitable for it?

    • +1

Ecopia - reason is that I believe tyres are like insurance policy. Around suburbs trips still include higher speed (e.g 80km/h) and various driving conditions (dry, wet, etc.)

      • Cheers.

  • Bastards!!! I only purchased my potenza's 4 weeks ago

    • Why wouldn't you wait for a promo discount like this……… :)

      • +2

They're coming around regularly enough that there is almost one on each month, just the brand changes. Unless you're very specific as to which tyre you want, just buy the best 4 for 3 deal at the time. Of course, i understand you can only compare something like an S001 to a comparable tyre, but over the last few months there has been some good deals floating around on performance tyres in the popular sizes (such as Conti SportContacts etc..)

        • Agreed there. Last month bridgestone ran another one as well.. But i decided to wait a few weeks for the ecopias based on my chat with the bridgestone shop. I believe yokohama are also doing the 3 for 4 this month.

      • Sometimes you can not wait. I was trying to determine last week how long I could get out of my tyres before I had an accident or a fine. I figure I have about 1000km max left.

This deal is great timing for me.

        • +1

This came a week too late for me :( Ended up with PS3 instead of RE003 (my preferred) but apparently there's no stock of 235/40/18 RE003 in Australia anyway…

        • +2

          @dennis.s.s:

What games did you get with your PS3?

        • I was trying to determine last week how long I could get out of my tyres before I had an accident or a fine.

Buy retreads. When I was on P plates, I noticed my retreads had nearly no tread left. But I also noticed the new tread was sort of 'peeling' - little end bits of the new tread were sticking out of the old tread. So I peeled it all out - and got six more months out of the old tread underneath!

        • @dennis.s.s:

Really no 235/40/18 RE003!!! Arrrgg this is exact what I need.

        • @WalletMoth:

That's what I was told by a Bridgestone Select. Maybe try one of the other dealers - Jax, KTAS, Bob Jane. They might have stock in their warehouse.

        • @dennis.s.s:

Just got 3 from JAX @ $205 each. Now to stand over them so they don't screw my rims.

      • Needed them urgently, the Yokohama's I used to run went up $100 a corner

  • How do I choose and compare good tyres? Don't know much on the subject.

Currently drive a 2010 forester diesel. Do some off roading but mostly on road, but very twisty roads. Live in cairns so will have to do well with the wet too. Any recs?

    • Ask on Ozfoz.com. Plenty of others that can help ya out. I'm not that active but do have an 09XT that some other members have helped me out in modifying.

  • Do you guys buy these tyres even if you don't need them, then get them fited later>?
Is it something where you can buy the tyres from bridgestone and get them to fit them the next time you need them without paying extra?
I've always only bought tyres at the time I've needed them…

    • I've learnt it the hard way…..if you buy and store, the next time you bring back to the same shop you bought from….they might charge you fitting charges….which kills the deal….just my experience maybe.

But 1 thing I learnt through the years.
We spend so much on a car and then try our "bestest" to reduce maintenance cost….(maybe that's just only me again heehee)
Never, never compromise on tyres as they are the only 4 black round things which sticks you to the road. (Any other part spoils….mostly leading to a breakdown.)

Stay safe and save thru such good deals!

    • I'll need tyres in about two months so just got some using this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/217732
Will be just over half the local price one fitted.

  • I purchased a set of Super Cat tires from Bridgestone. They're a bit noisy, lack grip in the wet and very easy to make them squeal. I highly recommend paying a little more and getting better quality tires.

  • Could use some recommendation here. Not familiar with tyres. My Evo 8 is badly in need of a tyre change. I havent changed the tyres in 4 years since I bought the car.

Standard BBS 17" wheels on em right now. Would the potenza range be a better fit?

I am also open for any other brands if they are a better fit. But this deals sounds too good to pass.

    • I got the RE002 last year size 235/45/17 for $185 each fitted before the buy 3 get 1 free promo from Bob Jane. They are quite good and quiet. Just be sure ask them to waive disposal fees of your old tyres.

      • +2

RE003 is the replacement for the RE002, and I've heard nothing but good things about it except poor life (25,000km) but it's normal for this class tyre

    • +1

My Evo 8 is badly in need of a tyre change.

To the extent where your insurance company won't pay out if you have a crash? Don't push the limits or procrastinate on tyres even though it's a pain.

Also, often either the front tyres will be more warn than the back or vice versa depending on front wheel drive or rear. This often means that you only have to purchase two tyres at a time if you have them rotated. This works for me and works out cheaper than the 4 for 3 I reckon.

Might be less effective on all wheel drives.

    • +12

An Evo owner who isn't familiar with tyres… Oh the irony…

      • I know :D 4 years and I still can't get my head around the tyres!!!! Ive to admit to the embarrassment!

Btw, it's my first drive! Almost fully stock, except for the exhaust and the sound system!

        • Join an Evo group or an Australian car group for all sorts of info

        • +1

Get the RE003 or S001 in 235/45/17. DONE.

  • Anyone in the know can recommend the Ecopia as a good option for the Camry Hybrid?

Also do they slap you hard for the fitting costs and disposal of old tyres?

    • +1

Re: fitting/disposal, that should all be part of the advertised price of the tyre. Better check with the shop you are planning to go to just to make sure

  • +2

DO NOT BUY FROM JAX MOORABBIN (Vic)!
The numbskull tyre fitter managed to gouge all 4 of my rims right the way round, then the sneaky owner denied liability after his manager earlier accepted fault.

    • +1

The idiots over at Preston Jax QuickFit overnighted and rounded my security bolts on my GTI and my mechanic had to drill them out to get them off, damaging my rims in the process because there was no other way. NEER GO TO JAX! STAY AWAY FROM THEM! They're just a bunch of monkeys. Go somewhere more reputable like Donnellans

  • -1

So, just confirming re Jax website.

The prices currently shown is the price you'd pay for 3 and get one free? Or price for 4 (discounting what the 4th would have cost you)?
Regardless, massive f around when I'm running aftermarket wheels. RE003's in 235/40/18 won't even come up when I choose a car that runs that size :S

    • Are Jax good? Or should I go to a Bridgestone direct dealer?

      • My local jax (Liverpool NSW) are quite good. They managed to do some pretty crazy stretch jobs with no marks/issues. That said, one employee did damage the outter lip when removing old tyres. Shame I picked up on it after I pulled them out of storage a good while later. I go back there and I'm happy with the service.

    • Price on the website is each.

So x3 and thats your price for the set of 4.

  • Any recommendations for Toyota Tarago?

Local JAX has only one Bridgestone:

    • B390 (205/65R16) $205.00 each

Checked Bridgestone website they have 4 varieties, I've requested a quote via email.

    • Bridgestone Ecopia H/T EP850 (215/65R16 98H)
    • Bridgestone Dueler A/T 697 (215/65R16C 106S)
    • Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport (215/65R16 98H)
    • Bridgestone Dueler H/T 687 (215/65R16 98H)
    • The tyre you have listed from jax and the ones from bridgestone are different widths - 205 vs 215

      • Thank you. The ones fitted on my car are 215 (from dealer). But doing a search on Jax website for Tarago GLi 2009 acr50 says I need 205. I don't think the B390 is part of the promo though.

        • So got a call back from Bridgetone. Very helpful guy.

The 215 tyres that are installed on my car are fine but they increase the speedo and kms by aprox 5-10%. (so it means you are traveling faster than the speedo reads and the kms are higher, eg. 100K will show as 105K)

The B390 tyres which are the correct size for my Tarago are not on special.

The other option I have are the Ecopia EP100 215/60R16 which according to his maths get the speedo and kms back to normal if going for a 215 tyre. Benefits are that there are more tyre options for this size and prices are cheaper as quoted below:

          Bridgestone Ecopia H/T EP850 (215/65R16 98H) 4 tyres $630

          Bridgestone Ecopia EP100 (215/60R16) 4 tyres $465

          Wheel alignment $49

  • I only need my front 2 tyres replaced soon. Rears could probably wait another 10-15k. Is it a good idea to store tyres for this long?

    • +4

Realistically, you should dispose of tyres after 5-6 years (depending on who you ask it's 5 or 6). So as long as you do enough mileage to max their lives out by 5/6 years, it should be fine.

Storage should be in a cool, dry place though. And don't hesitate to ask the build date of the tyre (it's displayed as WWYY - so 5114 would be the 51st week of 2014)

  • Just a head up , don't buy Ecopia tyre, they're shit in handling wet road

    • I bought ecopia on my last set, it was ok on my cheap old honda civic but yeah, lacking grip in wet. Grip in dry is good. Medium durability. Recommended for ppl who drive without haste.

I recently got the firestone same dealio. Again, cheap and not bad but not great. Grip is not the best.

Get the regular Bridgey range and Potenza. It's worth it.

  • Always 4 tyres… I must drive the only car in Australia that has a spare tyre.

    • I was thinking the same thing as well when I needed new tyres.

Rocked up to the tyre shop and told the owner to tell the boys to keep the best one as spare. The owner came back to me and said my current spare was in perfect condition. He asked me why I wanted to change the spare one? I said I just wanted to rotate it and have a newer one as a spare.

He took me to the workshop and showed me a tyre on the wall manufactured in 19xx in perfect condition! He told me unless the tyre has been sitting out in the sun all the time or always in the wet, rubber cracking/frayed, physical signs of wear etc there's no reason to change it.

    • +1

You can insist buy 4 get 1 free and no one is gonna stop you.

  • Set of 4 Re002 205/50/17 fitted for $450 @ Jax, pretty happy with the price.

  • Ecopia ep100 v Potenza Adrenalin RE002 which one to get for a Ford Fairmont ? please advise.

    • +1

That would depend on the type of driving.. Potenzas are generally for more spirited driving whilst the ecopia seems for the touring driver. Each have their pros and cons.

  • Please note that Cosco also have a same promotion buy 3 get 1 free for potenza

  • Set of 4 x RE003 255/55/R17 fitted for $675 @ Bridgestone Select. Is that a reasonable deal?

    • Got a wheel alignment ($66) thrown in for free after some haggling. Also, the tyre size above should be 225/55/R17

  • So, for 205/55/16 -$147 for the ecopia ep100 each at my local bob jane in watergardens. Pretty happy with the deal but be interested to hear if others have done better. Last minute thing and the service was excellent and tyres done under 2 hours. I was all set to get them done at my local bridgestone store but they claimed that they had to charge me the full rrp at $200 because of the promo and couldn't do it for $145 as they had quoted me several weeks earlier. So meh to that for service. To something more pertinent- very happy with them so far, replacing the oem kumho. Grips better, much much quieter on the freeway..so much quieter.. Plus still made in japan, i figured all tyres were now made in china. Not that its particularly relevant. So hope that helps if anyone else is looking for the same size.

  • 4 x 245/35/19 RE003 $807 fitted balanced inc. G.S.T

  • Installed a set of 4 x RE003 215/60/R16/99V fitted & Wheel Aligned for $410 @ Bob Jane T-Mart in FTG. All the bridgestone tyre stores were a rip-off in comparison to Bob Jane T-mart Quotes for my tyre size. My tires say Made in Indonesia.
