I was looking for over ear headphones, with active noise cancelling, and bluetooth, and came across these plantronics headsets. From reviews looks like ANC is close but not as good as Bose's, but the Bluetooth multi device pairing and heaps of headphone features are highly rated. Note the circular cup instead of oval cups might be an issue for some.

Plantronics seem to have ventured into the stereo world recently (coming from mono headsets for office telephony!) and I have a pair of backbeat fits which I am very happy with to use while running.

The new PRO+ has been launched recently, so these have dropped in price. Cheapest on eBay elsewhere hovers around the AUD270 mark.

MULTIPLE DEVICE SYNC TECHNOLOGY: Listen to a movie on your tablet and quickly answer the call on your smartphone; these headphones are compatible with all smart devices including iPhone, iPad, and Droid devices.
HIGH QUALITY AUDIO: Rich and lifelike audio delivering rich bass, crisp high, and natural midtones through extremely comfortable headphones.
LONG LASTING BATTERY LIFE: The Plantronics technology offers up to 24 hours of listening while providing 330 feet of Bluetooth range.
COMFORT: Perfect travel and in-flight headphones include pillow soft earcups to provide lasting comfort while canceling and isolating background noise.

  • i use a pair.. pretty decent. NC works well. also got it from amazon … but that was when the dollar was the same.

    • Wow I didn't know these have been out for so long… The last time our dollar was in parity was when, 3 years ago?

      • nah bought it last year… it was about the the same.. like 95 or so … the quality is really great!!! i usually use it at night so i dont disturb the family listening to music and movies.

i beleive that officeworks carry this however i've never seen it there .. they do list on their website.

best feature is 24 hour battery … it lasts really long … and the nc is effective on planes.

  • Didn't know there was a new model out? I just bought backbeat sense on ebay, haven't received them yet though.

Considered this headset as well, and might consider buying to compliment my backbeat sense

    • how much? have you compare the feature with this one posted. any much different?

  • I went through the whole which ones to buy adventure, Dr Dre, Bose QC25 etc.
I needed a set for flying, ride on mower and ipad link etc. Wires are a pain to be honest.
Purchased these and they are outstanding. If you are buying solely for flying, you can't beat the QC25's, otherwise these rock.
The battery seems to last forever and the bluetooth is stable with excellent range.
If there was a bit downside I would list it, however after 50 hours of flying and months of use, feel they are money well spent and I'm scrouge mcduck.
About to buy a set for the wife, thanks for the post.

    • Thanks that's great feedback, I'm feeling a lot better buying these untested!

  • I received my backbeat sense last week off the recent ebay cash collect deal (paid $255 and received $100 voucher back - was last one though).
It is very lightweight and I've been wearing it for hours each day. If you are not a frequent flyer and need the noise cancelling function, i'd recommend the Backbeat Sense over Pro due to its weight.
The looks is a plus too but i guess that is subjective.

    • Hey! Did you buy from Mobicity? When I went to buy they had no stock! haha, damn you!

      • i did, must have just pipped you to it lol, fantastic deal

  • +1

Quick note, just bought a set but had to change the seller to be Amazon. (they are 3c more)
For me the default was Glamour who would not ship to Australia.

  • anybody know how well the multi device sync tech works?

Can I listen to two streams simultaneously (ie will it mix audio) or does it just allow you to cut from one to the other?

I've been told this technology can be very halfassed as well - e.g. extremely clunky, constantly dropping out. Any idea how well implemented it is here?

    • I don't think it will mix audio, from what I hear it cuts over to your mobile if it's ringing. From the reviews everyone has good thing to say about the multi device. I'll let the other owners here on OzB give you feedback.

I'd be happy to be able to link to my surface and my phone.

      • you can only listen to the first device … the second device which would be the phone can interrupt the first device and switch over… it cant do more than that.

the other great thing about this is that if you're watching or listening to something, it will pause if u take the headphones off your head and resume when u put it back on.

  • I tried these after I bought my noise cancelling headphones, if I had been able to try them prior to purchase these would easily have been my top choice. Nice price as well.
