    I like how it looks

  • +2

These are really good for the price.

They are quite bulky though and look weird in meetings :D

    • +3

They are fantastic for the price.

With a bit of EQ, they sound out of this world good.

      • Oratory EQ preset is great

  • +3

Highly recommend, I must have had these for 6 years at least. Starting to now fray on the fake leather bits but easily a few thousand hours of use.

    • +1

Easy enough to replace the pads if you want.

      • +1

It's on the band part that touches your head. I'm not sure how difficult it is. I have already replaced the ear pads once too.

      • Does that go for any make/model?

I was given some nice headphones cos the fake leather stuff was all breaking up. It'd be mint, if I could replace that.

        • basically, yes. what brand / model are they? if it's anything remotely popular in mainstream or audiophile terms, there will likely be at least one replacement out there.

        • Most models the earcups are easy, on many ( like my Sony's ) the headband ain't happening without surgery so I just got a generic one that zips over it

    • are these good to watch movies?

  • +2

    comfort and build 5 stars
    sound 3.5 stars
    price 5stars
    overall 4 stars

from the owner and hifi enthusiast

    • You need to add durability category.

    • Master sensei, what would be a good option for sound 5/5 at equivalent price?

I've been using X2HR for years and I still can't believe how good it sounds, if it's only 3.5/5.

      • +1

Hifiman HE400se would be a 4/5 at a similar price and probably the best sounding headphone without stepping into the next price category.

        • +2

Has Hifiman solved their QA issues?

          • +1

@JPerez: I've dropped my Edition XSs quite a few times and worn them everyday for the past year and a bit and absolutely zero issues so far

That being said build quality is on the cheaper side but worthwhile trade off for the sound

If you can get them for under $300 they're a steal

        • +3

It's worth noting to a newbie that the HE400se will absolutely need an external Amp DAC, while the Fidelio will run fine out of a 3.5mm natively.

          • @Arty.R: I do run the Fidelio with an amp, but thanks for the heads-up!

      • +1

I would encourage you to watch recent headphones.com YT expert advice for each price category. Spoiler alert: this headphone is not there, sadly

      • I too recommend the Edition XS. I have both headphones. Though I do miss the low end boom the X2HR have so I run them EQ'd for more low end and shave some off on the high end for easier listening.

    • +2

Ain't no way SQ is 3.5/5!

Easily 4.5+/5 with the use of EQ (Poweramp etc) unless you're purely after a neutral sound signature. Plus very easy to drive.

Although comfortable it's very bulky probably the only downer for mine.

Not just music great for movies and gaming as well.

At this price no doubt an absolute steal you're not going to find anything better overall!

  • +1

I own these and they are overall great. Very comfy and good although they do sit a little heavy and leak a lot of sound (so not good for around others).

    • +9

      Not good for hentai then

  • How do these perform connected to digital pianos?

    • +1

I want to know this too or if anyone can recommend a good one around the same price.

  • +3

I've never had any pair of headphones that have come close to as comfy as these, highly recommend

    • +2

I originally had steelseries arctis 3 (similar tech with the suspended headband)
Ever since i vowed to only use suspended headbands.

    • Get yourself a Sennheiser HD 500 series, it will change your world.

  • Should I wait for the next 560s sale or this?

    • +3

      buy this, stop thinking

  • +1

These are great, but do leak a lot of noise. Sometimes, I forget i'm not actually wearing them because I can still hear everything clearly.

    • +2

      Forget you're NOT wearing them?

  • One of the most comfortable headphones!

  • already got 4 audiophile headphones, but once you get into the groove it's hard to resist the urge.

    ar5000
    edition xs

would this be a good addition to the collection?

    • +1

      In your case, no.

    • +1

No. The Edition XS would be the go to and you'd never use these over them.

  • The clamping force on these took a bit of getting used to for me. At first they were a bit uncomfortable coming from Sennheisers and AKG that have quite a light clamp.

Great sound quality for the price though.

    • I've had these for a long time and can't get them to sit right, can't get the cups centred on my ears- it just drops down. Maybe the wire strap isn't working properly. Any suggestions?

      • With my X1's I stuck some of the soft foam from the box between the top strap and the frame, used it like that for years.

        • Thanks, that's what I figured, just haven't come gone out of my way to get a neat looking solution. I don't wear them much on my computer, usually just run speakers.

  • Any headphones nerds got any comparison of these compared to the AKG K275s from this deal which I love but l also love comparing audio

  • These remind me of Grado's. Look the goods and some good reviews too.

  • Says you can get an extra $10 off if you pay via afterpay

  • Trying to find what codecs are supported …

oh. old-school analog, corded! how did i miss that? … Ah! Because Amazon calls them Noise Cancelling.

Passive cored headphones with noise cancellation? What a load of bovine excrement.

  • my mental health is really bad atm and i need some headphones to listen to music, would these or the hd599-SE have better audio quality?
The SE are $150 so same price basically. i think they are open back but i do mostly listen at home anyway.

    https://www.sennheiser-hearing.com/en-AU/p/hd-599-se/?channa…

if anyone has any recs i'd appreciate it. looking for anything wired on sale or good value

    • +3

If you do go the HD599 route you can use WELCOME10 for another 10% so $134.10

From the reviews I have seen after my research I would say the X2HR would be the more exciting listen, the 599 would be more "clinical"

      • thanks so much for the help and the discount code. i think i would go for the "clinical" option just to get the accuracy, even though i do mostly listen to very exciting upbeat music. not sure if i will regret that logic but oh well. thanks again

FR doesn't seem the best, but YMMV. good price still

    • There is a ASR EQ preset or the Oratory EQ preset both cleanup the frequency response, easy to do on PC
