I suggest Ozbargainers use Jetstar price match to save on seat quota. Win-Win

    • +1

unless, of course, the tiger flight gets booked out in the meantime. but true, matching on jetstar will let more people get discounted flights!

      • +1

Hey, don't reveal my plan :p

    • You're also not flying Tiger, that's the biggest win.

  • Damn payday later tonight :/

    • +1

Because you can't currently spare $48 bucks?

      • +1

Haha and Mrs and kids and the fact it's not $48 each way :/

        • +1

Get yourself a one way ticket and save even more!

  • +3

Very nice Neil. Thank you :)

    • TA, CR cashback please with Tiger.

      • +4

It's on my list. Just one of the many things we're discussing today.

  • To apply for Jetstar price guarantee, do you have to call or there is some sort of online form?

    • +2

You do it via online chat or call.

      • +2

Only 88 seats for each deal so I wouldn't be surprised if they sell out by the time you can try and arrange it with Jetstar for a discount?

  • +1

Uh oh, Tigerair Website seems to been getting hammered, "We are currently experiencing technical difficulties". haha…

  • Can't see any cheap flights Per-Mel and refreshed the page and everything at the time

  • Site is getting pumped! 12:07pm

    • Indeed. It is not faring well!

    26 July – 14 September

    2016

i could never commit to travel that far in advance…
    i booked a 30k european holiday 2 months before i left.

    • +5

      It's $8 you miser!

      • +1

tuzii is saying they'd rather pay $80 two months before they left.

        • the commitment vs freedom value is there

        • +1

I've been stung in the past with buying low tickets but having a change of plans, but then again: it's the price of two coffees.

  • +4

Wow $34 booking and service fee to the $62 trip. Definitely go the Jetstar price beat option if you don't have a Mastercard Debit card.

  • +1

all the weekends are $99!? only $8 for weekdays!

    • +1

Can you fly out Friday and come back Monday? Just booked a 10 day trip and has 2 weekends

  • +1

I wonder how do i do the Price Beat Guarantee when Tigerair website is down??!!!

  • Thanks. FYI - try booking via the mobile site when the normal website is down. It isn't iPad friendly but it worked.

Some screens don't update properly - like the insurance one. It does remove the charge but the check box doesn't tick. Same with the conditions at payment - hit the button and the submit changes colour, but the check box doesn't update.

  • $8.5 per person per flight service and handling fee when paid by any credit card and debit card (except Master debit card).

So cheapest single way is $26.5 not $18 with hand carry if you don't have a Master Debit card.

Also don't worry about it as Tiger's website is ozbargainized now having "technical issue"

    • +1

Pay for it with your qantas cash card - it's a debit mastercard and is a free account. No fees and just booked flights using mobile site.

    • +1

About 12 months ago I bought tickets via Tiger with my 28 degrees card (I said it was a master debit card at checkout) and I didn't get charged the credit card fees so it might still work now. I'm thinking that they have no way of telling the difference between mastercard and master debit cards.

      • I think you could be right there too

  • all are one way deals.. no return tickets can be booked at discounted rates.. Melbourne to Brisbane is discounted, but there is no Brisbane to Melbourne. Thats true for most cases.

melbourne to sydney discount available, but there is no return discount.

    cheeky!!!!

    • +1

I just booked MEL - BNE return with $28 each way. Might have sold out on return legs.

Also booked MEL - HOB one way as could not get return flights. Still a cheap start to a break.

edit: Also managed to get MEL - PER return in the same period.

    • Not so. There were discounts both ways from Bris - Melbourne with dates close together.

I managed to get Bris - Sydney return for 2 people, fly in Thursday back Monday. Paid with Mastercard debit, so $72 return total for 2 people. I was surprised at how easy it was to get flights actually, usually these kind of sales take some persistence and sell out quick smart.

    • I got Mel - Bris return, at around 8pm ish. $28 each way Thurs - Mon :)

Unfortunately looks like the website has crashed for everyone else.

    • +2

bloody good, booked the same thing for me and my missus. hope not to get a room next to yours. ;)

ps: sydney to whitsundays on jetstar is a 1 stop flight, and tiger has direct. So this deal is a big win

  • Their site's crashed :(

  • Thanks, managed to book via. mobile site !!

  • 18 minutes wait time …. not too bad if I get my Darwin flights :)

    • 3 minutes later it is 2 minutes
4 minutes after that it is 2 minutes
3 minutes more and it is now 4 minutes ………….

  • Isn't it starting tomorrow??????????????????????

    • Today but given their website is getting hammered they may extend it. Albeit it seems they aren't acknowledging their server issue but rather telling people to clear their cache.

      • +1

Your mobile link doesn't go to the .au site, unfortunately the mobile site is still tigerair.com.au!

        • Ah, thanks, fixed.

Keep trying as there's still flights. I couldn't get 4 seats Melb to Cairns so I got 3 seats around 12.30pm,then kept checking every half hour or so and at 2.45pm another seat was released on the flights I needed so I got the 4th flight in the end. 4 return tickets Melb to Cairns in late August for $224 all up. Thanks OP.

  • Yayy booked for my folks. $18 for BNE to CNS.

  • After waiting 30 minutes for a Jetstar price beat rep I finally got on hold with someone and I completely forgot that I needed to have Jetstar flights to compare to. Lol. Ended up chatting with the person for an hour while I looked for flights. Melb - Gold Coast $99.79 return for 2. Thanks op!

  • Great deal, price matched with jetstar and managed to get return flights for two melbourne to brisbane for $99.79 - Also had a $50 USD voucher from a delayed flight so only had to pay $30.

  • $101 Mel <> Gold Coast. 2pax. Cannot complain.

  • how do i price beat? have tried calling and doing it online :S

  • Scored some flights to darwin, been meaning to go for ages so this is it! thanks for sharing.

  • can u still do price beat if jetstr's flight is sold out!?!?!

    • +1

Booked Melbourne-Perth return for $86.4 via Jetstar

  • +1

There are a bunch of dates from Hobart to Melbourne return for $8 each, but if you add 2 people to the booking, they disappear. I'm not allowed to go by myself.

    • Hey you are right when I whacked in my wife and kids no sale comes up. I thought they sold out. But after reading your comment I tried single and there they are!

      • +1

yeah all u need to do is call jetstar price beat and book for 2

      • +1

I managed to get tickets to Gold Coast for 4 people through Jetstar. When I put it in on Tiger for 4 people it didnt work.

  • most tickets r all gone :(

Posting this is like posting some rural store special on peanut butter at an IGA store; if it can't benefit more than 1-2 bus loads of people at least a 24 hour period, its really just a 'cool find' for the local, not a 'genuine deal'

    • 1) you're aiming your comment at 1 of the main admin of the site
      2) many benefited on here, and likely many elsewhere
      3) deal well and truly expired, why feel the need for the negative view?

    • +1

Agreed. Kinda like those flights where 1 seat is sold for a few bucks on a flight…well…only one person usually gets that.

    • There's a thrill in getting on that bus. You can see it by all the OzBargainers who have commented here about scoring their 80% off deal.

Plus we even created extra seats on the buses by using JetStar 10% price beat.

  • Given there were tickets still around6 hours after it was posted I disagree roosta

  • Great deals but can't really plan 9-11 months ahead…

  • +1

Its ridiculous for Tiger to charge 17$ for booking fee.

  • +1

How do I get the $18? I can't see it anywhere.

    • Its very limited, I managed to find one but with 17$ booking fee, I can't see any offer.
Best is to ask Jetstar to price beat, no booking fee plus 10% cheaper.
