I often see Taswegians lament the lack of deals available to them on Ozbargain. This one's for you or anyone else who might be heading down after scoring a flight for for $8

I've just returned from my weekend Ozbargain style holiday and If you're looking for an absolutely dirt cheap getaway, I'm not sure you'll do better.

The Telegraph Hotel on the waterfront (19 Morrison St, Hobart, TAS, 7000) does a solid parma and chips or a porterhouse and salad for $5. Every day. Without a doubt the cheapest full sized meal I've purchased. Lunch: Thursday - Saturday from 11.30am, Wednesdays at 3pm, Dinner daily till late.

Yes, this is the normal price. Yes, it cheap enough to still qualify as a bargain

They also do Steins of Carton Draught or Cascade Pale Ale for $7 weekdays and $10 on weekends.

Knopwoods in Salamanca are doing Pints of Carton Draught or Cascade Pale Ale for $4 on weekends.

Coming from Melbourne, I was blown away that I could be fed and drunk in a capital city for <$20

Was chatting to a local and apparently Hobart has the highest number of restaurants per capita in Aus, so pricing is very aggressive to draw in the limited punters.

      You need to branch out then. Hobart has much more to offer than the Tele.

      Try some of the other pubs like the Shamrock and Ocean Child.

      The Mt Erica Hotel (420 High St, Prahran) does $3 steaks in the front bar. I have no idea of the quality.

      Edit: You have to buy a drink, and it's "$3 Steaks all day every day build your own steak from as little as $3!!! 200g Porterhouse cooked to your liking $3, add salad $3, add mash $3, add vegetables $3, add sauce $3"

    I live not to far from there, that's pretty good so basically $5 Drink $3 Steak $3 Mash $3 Salad = $14 for a full meal and drink might give it a go one night
