  • It's free

  • Downside, a minimum opening balance of $500 is required. Upside, the only fee that applies to this account is an "Alliance ATM Fee" which is not elaborated on so it might actually be useful for transacting with.

(EDIT: there's a $1.60\mo Visa Debit fee which compared to, say, People's Choice or Bendigo Bank, isn't that bad.)

Also a strange quirk with their Visa international fee, it's $5 or 2.5%, whichever is higher.

    • I posted the deal on the basis of the $55 gift card rather than the daily use of the card. The $1.60 monthly fee can be avoided by selecting the no charge EFTPOS alternative.

Where is anything said about a $500 minimum opening balance (its does not appear in the T&C's as I can see)?

Sadly, I've been unable to join up as my ID would not verify for no reason at all apparent to me.

  • Interest rates:-
    Up to $1,999.99 0.50%
    $2,000 - $48,000 1.50%
    $48,000.01 and over 3.00%
I will take the $55 card and run.
Account opened ok without a deposit of $500, but will wait and see what happens next.

Do recipients of the disability support pension qualify?

    • 'Eligible permanent pension' is not defined in the T & C's and so give it a try! As I am over 55 there was no question about this, but if you are under 55 there may be a further question to be answered in the application.

      • There was no request for pension details of any sort. Odd.

        • Edit… They ask you to provide the details later when you enquire about qualifying for the offer after you have created the acct. Should have a separate application for this offer where you can provide all the details without all the messing around.

@xywolap: That's strange, when I enquired they didn't ask me for further details, and said that it would 'be in the mail' within 30 days. But I expect that it will fail to arrive and that I will have to chase it up.

        • @peck:
I did call because nothing I had received mentioned the bonus. That is when they said I had to send proof. Makes sense otherwise anyone could claim it.
I called again a few days ago as nearly 2 weeks ago I got the pin # for the bonus card in the mail but still no bonus. They explained it should be issued about 30 days after acct was opened.
Thought it to be odd that they would send out the pin # so far in advance.
If this is an introductory offer to get customers they could have made some effort to get their act together.

  • I filled in the application and unfortunately upon submission they just said:
"Sorry we can't verify your id"

This was after I entered my NSW license, Medicare details, TFN, address, and phone number etc

I'll give them a call tomorrow

  • The link in the ops t&c above does not go to where you open a "IMB Wisdom Saver Account". It links to 2 other savings accounts.
Link to opening a Wisdom Saver Acct is here.. http://www.imb.com.au/campaigns-wisdom-saver?spotlight=perso…
    No mention of $55 though.

Yes the website has that inconsistency. The link I gave offered the gift card, but the T&C embedded link is a bit dead. Their error I would figure. Amateurs! :) Go with the link I provided and hope your identity is able to be verified.

  • So just to be clear a minimum opening balance means that I'll need to deposit $500 during the sign up process ?!

    • no

I just got an email about this, says valid to 31/12/15. Here is the link:

Can the mods please reactivate the deal?

    • Thanks. Tried opening an account online but said I had to visit a branch. :(

  • I just received a mail from IMB for a referral offer. If I refer someone (using the referral form that I received) then we both get $50. The new account holder has to deposit $50 and leave it in the account until the bonus is received. Complicated formula, but max period is 3 months.
