Integrate your smartphone with your car audio system with MirrorLink™
Your phone is a part of your life — you store and stream music on it get directions with it and sometimes even make phone calls with it. Sony has incorporated MirrorLink into the XAV-712NAV DVD receiver so you can enjoy seamless connectivity between MirrorLink enabled smartphones and this car stereo. MirrorLink mirrors your smartphone's approved apps content and controls on the receiver display so you'll see and use the same familiar interface on both devices.

MirrorLink needs three elements to do its thing: a compatible receiver like the XAV-712NAV a compatible smartphone and an app that's compatible with MirrorLink. Check Sony.com.au for their latest information about MirrorLink and compatible devices.

Lots of ways to enjoy your music and video
You'll also enjoy the features you'd expect with a DVD receiver. The screen displays the striking menu graphics crisply and you'll be impressed by the thought that Sony's put into the touchscreen controls. You can plug your iPhone® into the front USB input for direct control and playback of your music access audio and video streams from many online sources — the XAV-712NAV has an HDMI input for compatible phones to make connections easier though you may need extra cables for some phones — check "Details" for more info.

Slide a DVD into the front slot to enjoy movies or videos when you're parked or insert a CD or DVD loaded with MP3 WMA or AAC music files for hours of audio entertainment. For long road trips dual-zone output allows you to send video to a rear seat monitor while you listen to something else up front.

Bluetooth® for hands-free calling and audio streaming
Built-in Bluetooth sets up a wireless link between the receiver and your mobile device. You'll enjoy the convenience of hands-free calling and you'll have touchscreen access to your phone book once your phone is paired. You can stream music stored on your phone using the receiver's audio streaming capabilities too. And if you're a Pandora® fan with an Android™ device you can pair your phone to the XAV-712NAV for complete Pandora® control without ever connecting a wire.

Match the sound to your car
Sony's Dynamic Reality Amp provides plenty of punch to power your tunes and features advanced circuitry to make your discs and digital music sound their best. The EQ7 7-band equalizer lets you optimize the output to the acoustics in your vehicle and you can use the built-in digital signal processing to enhance the sound of compressed music files.

Want to keep your car's steering wheel audio controls?
In most vehicles you can use an adapter (not included) to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Sony stereo. Connect a few wires then program the adapter for your particular car and the Sony and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more at sony.com.au

Goto Autobarn/Supercheap and get an Audiopro Sony to Toyota adapter, there might be abit of a wire chop job but its not hard. while at the store, get a kingcrome panel remover kit. prevent scratching and damaging other panels when removing the fascia.

FYI: you will need a new double din fascia to accommodate the new double din head unit size. can get one off ebay
FYII: the sony HU isnt a true double din size and has two fugly gaps on the sides to which sony provide a flimsy panel which needs modification to fit and there are no fixings for this POS panel. i turfed it and left it bare.
FYIII: in order to watch DVD's while driving; dont connect the hand brake wire and just wrap it up (i dont endorse watching dvds while driving)

  • i had one of these units and it has a software issue, every time you start the car it goes to the nav screen,so you have to navigate back to the radio screen, every time you start the car.i got rid of this unit pretty quick, because that annoyed me so much.

    • I agree. i have this HU and it pisses me right off. The tom tom nav has a very outdated feel. setting the destination is a PITA. there is no live traffic report. NAV dies and resets for no apparent reason while in use and also on start up as described. cant get the speedcamera location thingi to work either.

Mirrorlink compatibility is limited (doesnt work with my nexus)

USB playback takes ages to load on startup

fugly gaps on the side of the head unit due to size of the head unit and sonys flimsy (read crappy) solution for it.

IMO an android head unit off ebay with all the bells and whistles does the same job if not better for much less monies with google maps to boot.

  • if you use iPhone guys better to Install same sort of device but running an I phone in your car!
I love it in my Lancer!

    Apple Car Play!

  • This looks old, outdated and overpriced. What year is this from?

    • HI !

this is current model unit from sony.

      many thanks !

      • Rep if you can do a better deal on your ebay store I will grab 1 now. Price is $849
