The last time I got cheap shoes online, I picked up a pair of New Balance 501's from Catch of the Day for about $50 + shipping.
While I don't think they are 'fake' they appear to be from the B tier manufacturing line, they weigh very little, the cut / shape of them seems very slightly off and the branding on the rear of the shoe seems odd. (the font)This reminds me of the Nike's I picked up in HK about 5 years back, in an actual Nike store, they are genuine Nike but they are the Vietnam plant, they did cost literally half what I paid for my Nike's I got at Atheletes foot in Melbourne. (They aren't bad by any means but my original Cushlon pair are very well made and feel 'proper' designed for my flat feet)
So with that all out of the way, I feel hesitant purchasing shoes online in general now, because it feels like most shoe manufacturers seem to run 2 series, A and B tier.
(Although $29 is super cheap, you'd be hard pressed to feel ripped off! but the $60 after shipping from COTD for the 501's - ultimately doesn't feel worth it)Note: I'm going to risk it this time, but if the results feel the same as the CoTD 'deal' (You should see these things..) then it's definitely the last shoe I buy online sadly. (or at least from a bargain site, rather than a 'proper' site on special)
I'm keen to hear how things go.

I dunno man, I have flat, sore feet. I got cheap shoes as a kid and now my feet are f'n worthless.
I don't agree with paying $300 a pair in Aussie retail ripoff shops but if it's too cheap it's just no good.To be more specific, I've got at least 3 cheap dc pairs from EBay and they're the most comfy shoes I've ever worn
@tomkun01: Might be specifically the DC ones are actually not shabby - none the less I do hold reservation till I get mine, I'd rather have paid the extra $50 for my New Balance ones from COTD.

I bought 3 pairs in that same deal.
1 pair the sole wore out damn fast, and part of it was falling off from day 1.
1 pair are going well, but I dont wear them a lot.
The third pair were a size never even listed as availiable on the deal at all, and obviously the wrong size for me. However COTD refunded that pair without even getting me to ship them back… at the full price not the ~50% off price, so that one pair returned basically paid for all 3 pairs.
Do yours also seem 'uglier' than the ones sold in stores?
No I think they look fine, the second pair are still rock solid and I really like them, and a quick google says they're the 501 pair too.
A good store to buy from is eastbay. Ordered a couple of pairs of Nike's two years ago and still going strong. US site. A few coupons around too :)

Well the shoes have arrived.
Came in a thick large plastic shipping bag which was DC branded (surprising)
Box was a DC box (not surprising)
Shoes APPEAR to be quite good, yes manufactured in China but I'd have a hard time telling if these were store bought or not. Colour me shocked and surprised.
Much better than the COTD 501's I got.Totally surprised and impressed overall, for the money (or even $50 / $60) these are fine.
If they ARE a "b tier" shoe then they are pretty comparable to the original.I was wrong (or at least, I was unnecessarily worried in this post)
