Please don't quote savings off RRP as it is meaningless. The store shouldn't even quote such a thing as it is illegal to do so. They can only quote savings off what they actually sold it for.

    Brand name of copter?

    Independent reviews?

    • Sorry, didn't know those rules. Thought I'd just post something I bought. Apologies

      • +3

Ignore that poster, negging a deal for no good reason is a no no.

The posters comments are valid, the neg against the post is not.
He's correct. I can't see where this ever sold for more than $80. Unfortunately, the price of this type of product varies wildly, eg.

I'd check out Hobby King first to benchmark the value of this deal.

So you think it is acceptable for a store to break the law with their advertising and then you neg me for pointing it out.

The store is in breach of the Australian Consumer Law; from the ACCC:https://www.accc.gov.au/business/pricing/displaying-prices#two-price-comparison-advertising

          Specifically:
"Depending on individual circumstances, businesses using statements such as 'savings' or 'discounts' when comparing a sale price to the recommended retail price (RRP) may be misrepresenting potential savings if the product has never been sold at the RRP or the RRP does not reflect a current market price."

    • The store shouldn't even quote such a thing as it is illegal to do so.

Bit of a shame your neg got revoked. There are some sick twisted people here that get their kicks seeing people buy something while thinking they're getting a good deal but in fact paying full price.

    Plus minimum $13.95 shipping

.. and make sure you know the flying rules, or cop an $850+ fine.

  • Has anyone bought from this website before?

  • +3

Just to say that you can generally get a Syma X5C-1 (of which this is a knock off) for this price or less, with free postage, from one of the chinese sites (such as AliExpress or Gearbest)

You can also get very similar models with the 2MP camera replaced by a 0.3Mp Wifi camera (eg Syma X5SW). You can then fix your smartphone to the controller and have a first person viewer (FPV) as opposed to record and view later, for not much more.

    • Spot on, everyone might be better off with a Syma X5C, they are normally about $55.

      • do you have a webpage for Syma X5C? planning to buy one for my little boy. thanks!

        • Banggood or Ebay : )

        • +1

Worth noting that you'd be looking for the X5C-1, which is the bug fixed version of the X5C.

Otherwise it rises and stalls when flying into wind.

        • +1

I just bought the Syma X5SW off Ebay which has a 2MP Wifi camera for ~AUD$89

I saw this one on special, it might be of interest…

          http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/product.php?id=416876

      • Thanks for your suggestions, I'm going to look into the Syma X5C. Is that a good candidate if I want to start dabbling in drone videography? Just for fun, nothing serious.

  • Any good drone under AU50… please

  • Same X5C copy as the Costco quad, they have it for $58.

  • +2

Unfortunately the problem with these low priced drones is charging time v flying time.
The model advertised has a whopping 2.5 hour charge time for only 6 min flight time.

    • +1

True that, the novelty quickly wore off when it took longer to walk to the park than I spent there flying!

  • While it might be 720p, I would set expectations to be a VERY POOR 720p based on experience with an Aldi $99 job
