10

First time poster. Located in Canberra (might know us as Beetle Exchange) The Thunder Weekender battery box is up against Arkpak AP730; better price, 300w pure sine vs mod sine, 2 x Accessory sockets (cigarette lighter) & 2 x Merit Accessory sockets (no merit Arkpak) Suitable 12v batteries are LEAD ACID, GEL, AGM and CALCIUM and will accommodate batteries rated 60 – 160 Amp hour.

Product review

The Thunder battery box is a 12V battery charger, portable power station, battery management system and a dual-battery system all rolled into one. A great alternative to wiring your car with a dual battery system and it's portable - Portable 240V and 12V Power. Camping power to your lighting, portable fridge, smart phone and laptop all at once.

  • I must be missing something. This seems to be just a charger, a 300w inverter, and a box. No battery. And $429.

Can't I buy the same set of devices for half that price?

      Nope.
Jaycar 360W (closest Jaycar have) pure sine inverter $269

      Jaycar dual-battery isolator $46.06

So with just those two things, over $300 already.

Add in the mains charger, sockets, switching and box, and I think it will cost the same or more than they are asking, and you've still got to put all the bits together and make it look neat.

    • You could build a 12v battery box with components fairly cheap….probably not with all the features on the Thunder Box and not put together as neatly. Seen some shocker DIY jobs…each to their own
