    Pretty great prices.

As an alternative Qantas and Virgin are approx $100 more (from Brisbane) for 9 hours 35 mins less airport/flying time for those who prefer direct.

$50 to save over 4.5 hours travel time each way is a tough one.

    • do they stop in auckland? im giessing the delta ones dont?

Air New Zealand does for the dates I picked from Brisbane. I think 24th January to 9th of February and that's where I got the duration differences from.

Love a deal, and got no problem with long distance flying… but $100 to save 9 hrs of my annual holiday, and less stuffing-around… I think I'd just pay it.

…not to mention having a toddler in tow.

  • Damn that's cheap. Would prefer Qantas direct from Syd to avoid flying via Auckland. Although would prefer airNz and Auckland to United direct!!

  • Amazing prices. Thanks.

  • Ridiculous amount of cheap flights to LAX and SF… just had to book to Melbourne to San Francisco with Qantas for $931 yesterday. May 13-July 6. Always use Skyscanner to find best price then price match with STA Travel or someone similar.

  • & I believe Air NZ are doing a deal with paying just $1 more for an extra 23kg of luggage as well

Can you break the journey and stay over in Auckland for a bit?
    Is that allowed?

Auckland is a much nicer stopover than Sydney for what it's worth - transit in the same terminal rather than having to change terminals (virgin flights you'll have a normal domestic flight to BNE or SYD and have to change terminals) - though united out of melbourne generally is just an extension of the leg to sydney.

i flew MEL-AKL-LAX with Air NZ a few months back, stopping in AKL was 10x better than doing the sydney thing. only thing that kinda sucked was the later departure time (great for a sleep-in) meant arriving at LAX at ~2pm rather than ~9am which meant it was a little busier.

$815 mel-lax is an excellent price though… get on it!
