Thought it was 70AUD for a second and almost jizzed my pants. Still at this price it's pretty damn cheap, makes me really regret buying RAM about 3-4 months ago, just before the prices started dropping.

I currently have this ram in my PC taking up 2/4 slots. Would this be better than the Hyperx ram posted last night or would spending the extra $20 be better for future proofing/better performance?

Would there be any compatability issues if I was to keep my old ram?

    Cheers!

    • Depends what your usage for the PC is. For gaming 8GB is still plenty.

Also the 1866MHz RAM needs an overclockable motherboard, otherwise it'll stay at 1333/1600MHz.
With DDR4 replacing DDR3 your future proofing is reliant on how long your mobo lives.

With the existing kit you'll need to dial back the faster RAM to 1600MHz.

      • Please dont generalize gaming. There are quite a few triple A game demanding 8gb as minimun, in which higher is mostly recommended. 32GB, however, is truly overkill for 99% gaming.
        Correct me if im wrong.

        • Only game that I know of that can use more than 8GB is Star Citizen and that is still in alpha/beta so still needs optimising.
It uses as much RAM as you give it so runs on systems with 8GB RAM with minimal performance difference.

Buy this one unless you're buying 4 sticks. Because you have 1600MHz and it'll downclock the HyperX Savage 1866 down to 1600 speed which is pointless. I tend to just buy the same brand and speed for aesthetics but thats not always an option.

Yeah I thought that was the case, I remember reading it somewhere. Cool beans, might pick this stuff up then :)

    • Not $22 worth of performance increase, plus we have the same RAM, woo!!!

    hi any DDR4 sales?

  • Can someone please explain to me why this ram has "sport" written on it? I mean, it's ram… What's sporty about ram?

    • You don't mind Ballistix?

      • I mind "sport" more than "ballistix".

Definition of sport: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.

Thanks for the dictionary definition, I had been using incorrectly all these years. Here I thought it was a type of sandwich.

        • Ummm what? You mind "sport" more than "ballistix"

Definition of Ballistics: the science that studies the movement of objects (such as bullets or rockets) that are shot or forced to move forward through the air

Means you can dOwnload moar ram fom your local nuclear missiles.

    • sport: To show off by wearing.

So you are supposed to wear them.
