  • TGG has the HD9240/30 for $349. There seems to be no difference between the 2, except for the color (I could be wrong).

  • It seems to be color different from http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/philips-avance-collection-airf…. so this ll be cheaper

  • All I want is to fry lots and lots of chicken pieces, and mainly wedges/chips. Would this be sufficient?

    • If you want something basic and cheap and don't care about brand names, go the Kogan version as per my comment below. Nearly half the price, and larger at 3.5L. It'll do the same thing as far as I know. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, as I'd like to know about it myself. There are heaps of smaller 2 and 2.2 litre ones on eBay also, for about the $80-$100 mark. 2L is OK for two people, but much too small for 3 or 4. Kogan sometimes sell a smaller version, but it's not on their website at the moment. My friend bought one last year and is really happy with it.

I've had a 2L ONIX brand for a couple of years which does fantastic wedges, chips, chicken nuggets, and even heats up pies and sausage rolls. I even cooked an entire small chicken in it, which came out fantastic. Most stuff takes between 12-15 minutes, including the 3 minute warm-up time. It's fine for my wife and I, but if we have people over we have to do two lots, as it won't fit enough food. I'm considering getting the larger Kogan, as this is happening more often. We hardly use the main oven any more, it's only for pizzas now.

  • good to tag "Philips Avance Airfryer XL"

  • +1
  • My kitchen already came with an airfryer it's right underneath the stove.

  • has anyone tried frying icecream with this yet??

  • I'm not trolling, I'm genuinely asking does anybody know what this Philips model can do that the Kogan one which is only $139 - nearly half the price - can't? $265 seems very expensive for what amounts to a small fan-forced oven.

The Kogan one is also 3.5L, slightly larger than the Philips 3.0L, and has mechanical controls. The Philips has a digital screen with electronic controls, which are completely unnecessary. More electronics means more things to break. I do a lot of repair work, and more often than not it's stupid things like control panels that die when the mechanical parts are all fine, especially in harsh environments which involve a lot of thermal expansion (eg fan-forced ovens.)

I have an Onix brand air-fryer with a mechanical timer and temperature knob, it cost $59 from Coles and has been going about two years now. It's been fantastic, though it's a bit small at 2L. It's big enough for two people, but no more. I was thinking to get something larger, but can't imagine the Philips offers anything the Kogan won't. My friend bought the smaller Kogan version (it doesn't appear to be available anymore) and has been extremely happy with it.
