          @oak:

          I have it on my 930 too. I have a keyboard bug, everytime I swype a word I have to manually put a space in between. So the keyboard is currently a pos. There's lag when launching tab switcher on Edge from time to time. On my 930 it's draining around 1.5% battery an hour when idle, however on phones like the 950 users are complaining of losing 50% of their battery over 8 hours doing nothing. I found on my lower end Lumia using a s400/1gb of ram the performance is really horrible. Even doing basic stuff like browsing it would just hang and lag. It's not like 8.1 which is smooth and relatively fast on crap hardware like the 530.

          @Ronnnie:
          Keep in mind that the 930 is running the windows insider build which is still in development. The 950 is running the same build but it would have tweaks specific for the 950….so you can't really compare.

          I also have the wp10 development build on my 930 and on the whole I really like the OS. I agree there's some bugs but that's to be expected at this point.

          Let's not judge the OS before it's even finished.

          Full disclosure, I'm a windows phone fan boy…if you haven't already picked that up!

  • Ordered. Thanks OP! Been hanging out for an upgrade to my lumia 920 and xbox 360. 8GB of data/month is going to be quite liberating.

  • No mention of a ‘device credit’ when signing up. So theoretically you could sign up on the $80 plan and cancel the next day for $390 cancellation fee and have a phone and xbox to keep… Theoretically…

    Of course you would want to confirm on chat there is no device credit component..

    Seems like this OS is taking far longer than Android and iOS to get app maturity - which was understandable being a late comer. Windows 10 on the phone is a major step forward and when Facebook develop their apps (instead of Microsoft) and others follow suite it'll be a genuine contender. Just not there yet.

    • Apps is one thing, like the spotify app is awful on windows phone, it makes a flagship phone feel like a $20 phone the way that windows phone app performs. However as windows mobile 10 user, it really sucks at this point. My concern about these windows phone is battery life, I was talking to someone who has the 950 and G4 and he reckons the battery life on the 950 is worse. The G4 has bad battery life as it is, and really surprised me 950 was performing worse than it.

        Yeah the apps aren't polished at all. Flipboard app is woeful.

        Hard pressed to think of a decent 3rd party app that feels as good as the inbuilt ones. Even popular apps written by the owner feel like a knockoff.

        • 6tag is a great 3rd party app. Much better than first party instagram, which reflects poorly on them.

        • @oak:

          Having one good app doesn't make up for all the horrible or missing ones. Though its a start. :)

        • +2

          There's heaps of great 3rd party apps…. Tweetium, mytube, readit, baconit, 6tag, pin it, to name a few.

        • @thisispants: 6tin is another great example. They released a feature which Tinder then copied several months later and started charging people for on the real app!

  • Great deal, liked the look of it but reading the reviews for the phone and it's not worth a free xbox. The complete lack of apps and software that is well behind IOS and Android.

  • Thanks. Ordered one. Under 100 remaining. Get in quick people.

    I went to the Microsoft Shop to try out these phones first hand.
    Sadly, Microsoft hasn't learned from Samsung yet that 100% plastic phones costing $1,000+ are not well received.

    • -1

      The problem with the phone is not that it's plastic, it's the cheap quality of plastic used and lackluster build quality.

    • I actually prefer plastic phones for their good repairability.

      Just, the price tag is ludicrous.

      • +1

        On a flagship they could have used a higher quality plastic like they did on the older Lumias. This plastic is cheap like used on lower end phones. The Lumia 830 for is a lot nicer than these new flagships for instance. Microsoft could have done what LG did to make it look a bit better and used a nicer back cover. Yes you can spend $100 extra and get a nicer aftermarket one, but since this is $1000 phone to begin with you shouldn't have to do that.

  • ~140 when I first checked on 30/11 in the morning
    then 66 at 2:55pm
    then 61 at 3:00pm…..

  • Can't believe the XL has water cooling.

    I broke my Nexus 5 and used my backup Lumia 925 for a few months. It wasn't too painful despite being on a dev preview of Windows 10. The phone just wasn't fast enough for it, but the lack of Google services wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

    Can anyone explain why this deal comes with $100 Google play credit?
