  • iTunes has been DRM-free on music for the last 6 years.
  • DRM removers are not lossless. Don't suggest they are.
  • These tools are a breach of the Apple EULA, and (likely) the Copyright act.

    hmmm, one might argue that format shifting is required to watch your itunes downloaded tv show / movie on Linux etc (though maybe that's not the case any more in 2015?)

    I'm curious whether DRM strippers like this actually re-encode movie files, or whether they simply extract them from the container format and repack them…?

      Format-shifting is moving from one media format to another (e.g. From CD to MP3; or From VHS to DVD) is 100% legal. From one file to another file (even if the file format is different is technically not format shifting). Also circumventing copyright is not legal (so from DVD/BluRay to anything else; or removing DRM in this case) is also illegal.

    I've only removed the DRM on a video once, and that was only because i wanted to watch it on my xbox one. but yeah, total breach of apple EULA and most likely the copyright act
