Can someone point to a test so people know these are actually flushable?

    • +15

People flush their mobiles, so I have no doubt technically you can flush these down the toilet. The issue is more do they break down quickly like toilet paper….

      • +5

Basically the only thing flushable that you would want to wipe your butt on is toilet paper

    • +38

My wife works for Sydney Water, they are told that the system can't cope with any sort of flushable wipe.

They recently sent out a letter to all their customers asking them not to use them!

      • darn, beat me to it.

      • Pun intended?

  • +6

I don't really want to give my phone number to them. They will probably call me at work to ask about my arse wiping habits.

    • +4

      Fold or scrunch?

      • +1

my mate created a website for that question once… it ended up getting huge interest for a while.

        • and the winner was?

        • @chriskq:

I think it was folder from memory… but don't quote me.

  • +12

I hope these are better than the ones which felt like having your butt licked by a unicorn.

    • +5

      That sounds amazing!

    • +3

Hmmmm. Butt licked by a horny animal. I think I saw that movie!

    • I heard they feel really crap.

    • I liken them to Angels kissing your butt clean.

    • You remember Rod. It's still true.

  • +10

By "truly flushable" and "dispersible" do you mean they disintegrate quickly? I know you also say they are biodegradable but if it takes days or even weeks before they break down I can imagine they could cause blockages as noted here: https://www.choice.com.au/health-and-body/beauty-and-persona…

  • +12

Their video shows that it takes ten minutes of direct agitation for the wipes to break down, this may be better than competitors but still means they will clog your pipes.
'Flushable' wipes causing blockages in Queensland's sewage systems

    • +15

In opinion the potential cost to fix makes this product worth a -ve vote.

    • +3

Have to wait for a deal on a stick blender so I can agitate these wipes in the toilet bowl before flushing. Gotta be kind to nature!

  • Filled out form, clicked Send Form

    "Thank you for your interest.
Please look out for your free sample in the mail in the coming weeks.
    Regards,
    EMPORIA team"

    I will!

    • +4

But you are encouraging them to push the product by sending the morons marketing this sh%t THE WRONG, GREEDY SIGNAL!!! ARE YOU REALLY THAT CHEAP! I don't care that you're annozbargainer, this is going to be shoved down drains by thousands of morons of it makes it out into the public with early support. wake up, ass wipes!

  • +21

Wipes, whether advertised as flushable or not, should never be flushed!

    http://www.theguardian.com/sustainable-business/2015/may/26/…

    • +1

Only ass-wipes would be so lazy and stupid. But, there are 60 positive votes up already…. :( sad, sad sh*t

  • +9

I wish these were banned, I will never buy these wipes.

    • +9

We were so young and naive 2 years ago…

      • -1

        Amazing..

    • Obvious bias going on here, Hamza clearly has an interest in the flushable cleaning product industry, it's his fault!

  • +9

As my plumber said when he charged >$200 to eel out the sewer, "you can flush 'em, byt they're not going anywhere". I have seen a public notice to ask people to stop flushing them, just plush the '3 PPPs'.

  • +14
  • +6

Kleenex has flushed their morals down the toilet…

    • +2

      fyi emporia = solaris <> kleenex :)

      • +3

Solaris has flushed their morals down the toilet… hehe. I may as well leave the other post up, it's true anyway:)

        • Lol with this lot backing them, are you really surprised? Just look at the criticisms they've received.

  • +1

what are they made of? Can't be paper or they would say that, just says natural fibre

  • +13

Flushable wipes are NOT flushable and are clogging our pipes. How they're still on the market is beyond me.

    • +13

It's annoying that these are allowed to be sold while slowly bringing up service costs to everyone due to the issues caused

  • +8

Bah- I'm just going to use them to wipe my fingers after hooking bait while fishing. Don't care if they can be flushed, will go in the bin anyway for me.

      • +6

ok mate- relax! If it makes you feel better, I didn't sign up for the free stuff but the post deserves a +1 for the find.
Also, don't call me an "ass wipe"! I just told you, I don't use it to wipe arse!

        • I love Australia's ever more polluted-growing environment. I won't RELAX about it. All the relaxed morons out there are either destroying it, or watching others do it as they stand by, RELAXING. I campaigned quite hard for a recycling deposit on cans and bottle for NSW, writing letters, hosting functions at my restaurant for activists around it, and the list goes on. Seeing this kind of crap WIPING the hard work of others, such as myself, makes me unRELAXED. No apologies for that my man/woman.

  • +2

The last time I tried a similar product I was $240 worse off … And it was smelly for a while

  • +17

Terrible invention. Cloggs your drain, not good for environment. Free is not a bargain in this instance.

  • +8

Drain clogger. Pain in the sewage.

It's a product we can do without.

I love free stuff but there is no way I'll get these for the fact they are advertised as flushable. Put them in the bin!

    • 'Ken oath!

    • +2

The whole point of these is to make them flushable. Are you sure they arn't?

      • +5

They are flushable. There's no issue with that. The problem is -what happens to them after they are flushed. They basically clog up sewer pipes.

  • +1

I don't think it will be too long before there is some legislation or council ordinances banning their use. I couldn't imagine too many council/water authorities are going to put up with this shit for too much longer.

I wonder how you would go trying to pass the cost of unclogging a drain onto Kleenex/Other Manufacturers?

    • Ummmm, let me see. Uh, no, no I don't think that can happen. Um, like, somebody told me that there AREN'T any lobbyists available to DO GOOD SHIT FOR THE 99%, or the environment. Nup, you're gonna be waiting a long time for that kind of REVERSAL to suddenly occur. (Snark at big, greedy corporations, not your good self) ;)

      • Well, shiiit. Crapped all over my idea….At a council level I could see some movement. I know my local council (regional) looks after their own sewerage system and spend a lot of time unclogging the crap. If there was some measurable damage I reckon they might be interested in protecting rate payer interests.

        • +1

Make a proposal - it will be 'in the pipeline' for as long as the turds backed up on these wipes will.

  • +4

Honestly ozbargain should ban this garbage from being posted

    • +5

But the endless stream of BOGOF fastfood junk posts are ok? They make people FAT….. at least these only make people poor by clogged drains ;)

      • +7

I can eat fast food and manage my diet. This just seems like a complete waste of resources.

        • but all those take away containers and plastic folks are not a waste of resources? Hmmmm

        • +1

@Level380: That's a bizarre way of trying to prove that these flushables are ok to use. let's just ignore every issue out there just because we use plastic containers for food.

        • @BlazinPast: Its not bizarre, Your point was these wipes are a waste of resources, yet fast food isn't. You seem to be ignoring that paper/plastic containers are wasteful as well, that our tips are full of single use items and the sea is full of waste plastic floating around. hint https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Pacific_garbage_patch

I personally think BOTH product groups are very wasteful and a MEGA waste of resources.

      • +1

Got a point. The fast food is part of this problem. Proper diet, you don't need these wipes.

  • +21

A true ozbargainer would just spit on the toilet paper.

    • Lol

    • Can't say I haven't tried that.

  • Don't use them to wipe butt. It's still free if you want to use them to wipe your desk.

    • -3

But you are encouraging them to push the product by sending the morons marketing this sh%t THE WRONG, GREEDY SIGNAL!!! ARE YOU REALLY THAT CHEAP! I don't care that you're annozbargainer, this is going to be shoved down drains by thousands of morons of it makes it out into the public with early support. wake up, ass wipes!

      • Like it or not people will take these and get ozbargined, if you don't like just don't take it, no one is forcing you. welcome to Australia's number one bargain site mate where the land of freebies are almost daily!

It's like back to these caged eggs arguments, this site is for posting cheap/Free items, don't like it complain to the board of directors posting here will do little to nothing.

  • +2

I am going to use these as cleaning dust wipes. You dont have to use them as toilet wipes if you dont want to.

      • +1

        Stop shouting.

        • -3

Who are you, the referee? I love Australia's ever more polluted-growing environment. I'll shout about this all day cos I'm a real Aussie MAN!

        • +2

          @Debravity:
          You're insane, man.

        • @redcreek200: wow, your a referee and a keyboard psychologist. Wake up to reality man.

  • -1

Well least it's FREE, cheers! Another vote from the Meister.

  • Can we get a coupon code from TightArse for these?

    • +1

      use coupon code WIPEARSE

  • +3

You can flush a bag of concrete too if you want to

  • These are actually incredibly good at cleaning leather sofa's, leather car seats, wallets, bags etc.

    Anyone (everyone) remember this:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxtdWqfpxqI

  • +6

These cause such massive problems. No thank you.

  • +1

A real ozbargainer doesn't use toilet paper..

  • +4

Neg for false advertising as "Flushable"

  • +3

How are these wipes till legal?

  • +4

Negged on behalf of the ass-wipe mountain removal guys who unclog the sewers

  • Thanks, free pet wipes

  • Is it only this brand that doesn't flush, or do the kleenex ones have the same problem too?

    • +4

      all have the same issue

      • -1

You know even certain toilet paper clogs… I don't any of you guys tried this brand don't use assumptions before trying anything one brand doesn't mean it's same as everything else.

        • Actually, if you watch the video they have on their site, you can see that this stuff takes around 10 minutes of pretty much rigorous "sloushing" to break down… I'm not so sure this stuff will break down once we flush it.

    • +2

      All flushable wipes will clog.
