        • @conio:

          Monika!

      • That's what happens when using a phone :(

    • If using a mobile device, change to desktop site.

    http://auspost.com.au/parcels-mail/prepaid-satchels.html

$0.80 more to send up to 3kg at normal express postage price.

Also I cant see any way to buy them from that link or any info on where to buy them (in store/online only?).

Australia post suddenly thinking: "…is it possible that our services cost too much?"

    • +3

nah, can't be, everybody uses our services and loves it..
Let's raise the prices next year and see how far we can get away with it.

  • +1

It's Australia Post, so order today to receive before Christmas time.

    • Classic. Was actually going to put something similar in the post but thought I'd better shut up. I use Express Post quite often and never once has it not been delivered next business day. Very reliable I must say.

      • +1

*When posted from and to locations within the Express Post Network. If either or both are not in the network, all bets are off.

/me sadly lives in the country

    • Christmas Next Year? :-)

  • You're a bit late TA, this was posted on 30/11/2015. Swamped with too many bargains ? :D

  • TA how do you have time to still find bargains?

    • How does he find so many bargains is more of the question? Occasionally I find a little something but he always lands good / bigger / the best ones

  • When will there be a special discounted price to send stuff overseas?

    $0.95 less than what?

3KG satchels are $13.40 - so this is 60c more
3KG express post is only 80c more for 2KG more weight

You can get 1x 3kg express post satchel on ebay for $13.60
You can get 10x 3kg express post satchel on ebay for $128 ($12.80/ea)

Am I missing something? How is this a deal? I'm very tempted to neg it based on the above.

    • where did you get those prices
      http://auspost.com.au/parcels-mail/express-post-parcels.html

Single 3kg Express Post satchel is $14.80
(although I would not really call this deal a bargain…)

      • +3

        chiefbodge is actually correct

Regular Satchel, Medium (3kg) is $13.40
Express Satchel, Medium (3kg) is $14.80

The christmas flat rate EXPRESS is $14 but only up to 1kg. The normal express satchel is 80 cents more and I can send 2kgs more.

So his question still stands, what is it 95 cents less than?

Edit: In case you ask, I got the prices from the same link you posted. I just read it first :-)

        • -1

If I only want to send up to 1kg, I see this as an $0.80 saving, nothing more. If you believe saving $0.80 deserves a neg, you're tough to please. Just remember you're on a bargain site :)

        • +1

Yes but you can buy a 3kg express post satchel off ebay for $13.60: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1X-3KG-EXPRESS-AUSTRALIA-ENVELOPE…

        • -1

@chiefbodge: I agree. But you also have to wait a week for it to arrive. They're obviously not sending it by express post lol.

        • @tightarse:

          fair point

        • @tightarse: But you actually said 95 cents! Also I dont see why my neg was revoked. "Not the cheapest price available" is a valid reason.

I run an online store and can confirm you are correct. This isn't really a deal imo

  • I need JV to confirm this as a bargain.

    • +3

JV will say its cheaper to drive than use Austpost.

    • I was put in the sin bin for dissing his grace

  • Australia Post is pretty terrible at the moment, I can't believe how long the waiting time is when I call them (40mins+)…for such a big company it's simply unacceptable. My parcel from Sydney to Brisbane took a month to arrive, it actually just arrived today and I sent it on Nov 3rd, I thought they lost it…and they charge a fortune for such terrible service.
Are there any couriers out there cheaper and maybe more reliable?

    • Officeworks? I believe they do deliveries now.

    • Australia Post have slowed to a snails pace. It's actually become really noticable. Whether it's intentional or not to wring more money out of punters I don't know, but what used to take two days, now takes at least five, or more.

  • FYI, auspost do attempt to deliver expresses on Saturday for parcels posted on Friday, but this is restricted to local area only, i.e SYD area sending to SYD area, MEL area to MEL area. Ask in store for details, and get that purple sticker!

  • +1

Australia Posts next day delivery promise is pretty dismissal. Last 3 times they have failed. Refuse to refund money and just give replacement satchel as compensation.

    • +1

A replacement envelope or satchel is the specified compensation, unless you were sending an Express Post parcel. (http://auspost.com.au/parcels-mail/express-post-guarantee.ht…)

What if my Express Post item is not delivered as promised?

If your Express Post envelope or satchel isn't delivered as promised, we'll replace your envelope or satchel with the equivalent envelope or satchel.

If your Express Post parcel isn't delivered as promised, we'll refund the cost of posting.

      • I'm very aware the give a replacement satchel. I said it myself already.

My point is it sucks as a customer.
I needed something posted overnight, not another satchel.

  • I love this web site

  • Eastern European mail service is more reliable and cheaper than auspost. How did it ever come to this…

  • bring back $10 1kg i say.

  • funny that there is no one from Australia Post commenting on here making an official statement

I ditched them a long time ago

    using

    parcelconnect.com.au whenever I can ( fast way couriers )

hopefully their network wil spread so more people can use it

forcing greedy unreliable Aust Post to lower their prices to keep up
