  • Reasonable price

    • yeah, alternatively you would get used S5 around 300 on gumtree, so better to go for this one.

      • Nope. I already have. I'm using S5 and now I gave it to my wife. Just bought G3 for 195 @ damn DS. I admit S5 is better than the LG. So regret

        • Does your wife know you announce such things on OzB? ;)

        • +4

Lg g3 for $195?? Sure you didn't get a G3 beat, which is inferior?

        • @Ughhh:
Dse had that $195 deal for the 2gb 16mb vodaphone prepaid lg g3. I am not sure I have 3gb 32gb g3 and I'd rather have it to a s5 but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

What is the warranty on this?

    • 12 months according to the website

    • Please see my comment below

  • If you can find them, orange and white folio cases (like the samsung view) are $2 at dick smith. They are not leather but are nicely textured and work well, especially for $2. I'm going to try and pick up a spare for when it gets grubby.

  • If you are interested in taking up a telstra plan 12 months or more- these can be had for 360 brand new at telstra stores.

    • Stores only? no online? help here. thanks~

      • Instore only- online will only sell it for 600 (rrp of 840 minus the current 240 off deal).

Instore rrp is 600, with 240 off makes it 360

  • How does S5 compare with Note 4 ?

    • +2

      in my view and experience
using it as a smart phone - S5
need to take notes, need stylus - Note 4 (and be mindful of the price difference)

    • +2

Half way there. Note 4 is better in every aspects, except its big

    • +1

If you are interested in taking photos with it, the Note 4 will be better as the camera module has OIS

  • does this support telstra 4gx?

  • unless you're taking outdoor shots in bright light, the camera on this phone is pretty rubbish

FYI if you want a store based one, head to Telstra and tell them you signed up to GoMobile and want to use your $240 credit. It ends up being $360. It's unlocked but store branded (boot screen, Telstra logo on back cover). Add to this the 24 month warranty - Telstra would just send it back to Samsung.

Beware that the S5 has a terrible front facing lens which distorts photos in a fisheye form. I have one so no selfie for me.

    • what is GoMobile?

do you have a link to the details of this offer?

edit - just read about go mobile. Dont see how this is a deal because you need to sign up for a 12 month contract to get the $240 credit. I dont imagine you can just tell them you've signed up to gomobile and want the credit for free without actually signing up.

Sorry I should have said, tell them you signed up.

When I went to Telstra they didn't ask me any details about my plan. They gave me the $240 discount over the counter without checking. Worst case if they ask, say you've left details at home or haven't activated. The cashier asked his colleague what the code was for the $240 discount.

  • Great deal, thanks OP!

  • Listed at $469. Getting 351.75 + 9.90 shipping/insurance.

Has this gone up in price since it was posted?

      • 4% cashback from cashrewards
      • Sorry, should have been more clear - was more wondering if 334 was price with shipping. Curios as couldn't get to exact price listed by OP.

        $469 * 0.75 = $351.75
        Order total with +Shipping/"Transit care" = $361.65
        minus Cashrewards = $347.18

Assuming post not included in $347.18 - product price is $337.68.
Assuming $334 is shipped price, originally would have been about $450

        • +2

As I know 4% Cashback is applied on the non-discounted price, so I applied 29% on the 469 price and it gave me around $334. Also in either case the difference would be only 3-4 dollars so I didn't bother to much

        • @spiderdash:
          Thanks

  • These are likely refurbished by a mob called iCure.
Google them before purchasing this is prudent.
iCure does a LOT of the warranty work for Sumsung, I've direct experience with their BS, ie they lost my phone!

    • I reckon icure works on the phones they can fix and return to customers and not the phones sold as 'factory refurbished' by samsumg, unless you know for sure otherwise

  • Does anyone know what the warranty is like on referb phones from dealsdirect?

    • They do not mention refurbished in their warranty policy so we go by law,

"The other caveat with refurbished goods or seconds is that you can’t complain about any faults which you were made aware of at the time of purchase. If there’s a scratch on the casing of the television and the seller points that out, it isn’t grounds for complaint (or a refund). Not can you seek free repairs for something that’s your own fault — if you smash the screen with a Wiimote, that’s your problem."

They mentioned there may be scratches but everything should be working, so 12 months warranty should apply here.
Also they are not bad with their warranties I was able to get full refund in the past on things breaking down after few months.

  • Sold out in all colours!!!

  • A friend who ordered this received it today.

    -Telstra branded
-Seems to be in decent physical condition
    -Huawei 1A charger included.

    • Telstra branded is not a good thing, they didn't mention that, I will wait to get mine and will see.

    • Quick update - battery appears to have significantly lower capacity than a new device. Battery is being charged with correct charger from another Samsung device.

Today over the course of four and a half hours, battery has dropped to 51% with basically just Whatsapp/some chrome use.

As expected, the included charger is basically useless and charges the phone slowly.

  • I order a black one on 4/12 and just received an email stating they have none left in the warehouse and that they would be refunding me.

    • Yeah I placed two orders , one was ful filled other was cancelled (suddenly everyone is acting like dicksmith )
