  • $10 postage for me, but $75 is still pretty decent.

Note that this is single colour RGB meaning that you can't have more than one colour on your keyboard at any one time. So it's good for switching things up once in a while but don't expect any effects or a multi-coloured Christmas Tree.

    • Oh right. Thanks for informing me. Wasn't aware. Just saw the deal and posted it.

The Excalibur Spectrum that goes for $85 on ebay is the per-key RGB version with reactive multi-coloured effects or individually assignable colours for each key, similar to what you see on keyboards double the price such as Corsair Strafe/k70 RGB, Razer BlackWidow Chroma and Ducky Shine 5. Only lacks user-programmable lighting effects and updates.

    • Based on the reviews I'm googling, it's limited to single colour out of the box, but you can customise effects and multicoloured configurations using the software. Standard practice for all RGB keyboards.

      • This is the single colourversion, not the 'Spectrum' which is explained above.

        • Mmm, a closer look at the exact model numbers and the reviews seems to agree. I'm not an engineer, but it sounds like a rather strange limitation.

          Good info.

        • @SoresuMakashi:
Yeah, had they had brown keys for same price I would have jumped on it erroneously thinking this was the "Spectrum" as depicted by the image at top.

  • Is this brand any good?

  • I currently own this keyboard build quality is very good but the software kinda sucks. Though I would recommend it especially at this price!

    • From my experience, I've not had a single piece of software for my peripherals perform well. I've used Gigabyte GHOST (Mouse software) - useless/clunky as hell. Also Thermaltake eSports Poseidon Z software is awful, along with Max Keyboard Nighthawk software.. Even corsair utility engine is bug-ridden, and it's meant to be one of the best.

Sounds like these hardware manufacturers would rather make hardware, not software :P

i replaced my Poseidon z with this keyboard as one of my friends split Jim beam all over it :( thermaltake's software at least never froze on me. Logitech's gaming software seems to be the best though i only use it for my mouse so i cant comment on how well it works with a keyboard, great user interface, though doesn't scale properly on my 4k monitor.

  • Son wanted an RGB keyboard for christmas . Now he's getting a matching mouse as well :)

    • Dick Smith has the Roccat Kone Pure for $18, most stores have it and not many people know of this price (marked as $109)

It's RGB and a great purchase. If you can't find one check ebay as it's still pretty cheap on there.

Beware the non standard bottom row if you want to customise keycaps

    • non-standard bottom rows bug me so much!

Fortunately, people are less likely to customise keycaps with a backlit keyboard - since there's less sets.
