HUDWAY helps you drive safer in fog, rain, heavy snow, in dusk and darkness. It creates the route you’re driving, and reflects it on the windshield as a Head-Up Display (HUD). Together with timely voice hints on the approaching road bends, the information displayed on your windshield is easy to perceive and use. You’re always aware of what’s ahead — a straight run or a ramp-turn.

— Turn your iPhone or iPad into Head-Up Display (HUD) in any car
— Works off Apple, Google or OpenStreetMap (OSM) maps
— Build a route worldwide to your destination point
— Use transit points (via) to build a specific route
— GPS tracking (track record) helps you track your way and use it later for navigation
— Professional Voice Assistance (Co-Pilot)
— Turn-by-Turn directions
— Animated 3D road view
— Customizable road visualization
— Average and maximum speed calculation
— Acceleration 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) calculation
— Accurate speed calculation (using accelerometer)
— Save routes to drive them later, offline
— Share routes and results with your friends (Facebook, Twitter, VK)
— Distance in miles/kilometers, meters/feet/yards

When you’ve created the route with Hudway, place your smartphone on a dashboard. The road outlines are now reflected on your windshield, as well as the distance to the next meaningful curve, and your vehicle speed — all accurate and real-time.

NB: Works only in low visibility conditions (rain, fog, heavy snow or darkness). During a day-time using HUDWAY Glass (hudwayglass.com) is recommended.

Professional Voice Assistant alerts you on the approaching road bends, so that you know exactly when to slow down and speed up.

Build routes and save them to drive later, without Internet connection. Handy, when in countryside.

Attention: Hudway works in a background mode. Continued use of GPS and Audio-services running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

I've signed up, how do iIget the pro version?

    • +1

If on iPhone, tap on left top corner and you would see the option on bottom left corner. Not sure about Android as I don't use that device.

  • Go to the apps menu and select settings. Then there should be an upgrade to the Pro version option. When selected the lifetime version should show up as $0.

  • Signed up, thanks op

God I hate Vimeo… how is it so crap?? I just did a speed test and have 90mbps speeds on the NBN at the moment, yet Vimeo can't stream a video to me without it stopped every 2 sec.

Vimeo you are the WORST! /rant

PS I am using a Chromebook Pixel LS so it's not my laptop either. It's just general crapness from Vimeo

I ran a speedtest and I get about 10mb, and Vimeo is fine.
The problem must be you =D

      • My speedtest gets about 95mbps - NBN

Vimeo is well known for being crap.

    • cant say i've ever had that problem either.

Best thing for these conditions outlined is yellow lense sunglasses.

    • I don't get this…explain pls

      • +2

Yellow tinted glasses somehow make seeing in low light conditions easier and brighter. Similar reason why shooters use them. On the other end, race car/bike drivers dont because its too much info

        • Tunnel vision, when racing a car you dont care about the xxxx cheerleader with big tits bouncing along the sidelines entertaining fans.

When hunting in the dark you want vision of as many bitches as you can possibly see.

Does this put the yellow goggles into perspective?

  • thanks, works perfect on Android!

  • I love this site, I'm an App Addict and this is good App.

  • Can't connect to google play… when i clicked Upgrade to PRO… on android Anyone can help? Thanks.

    • Go to http://hudwayapp.com. click Get in on Google play.
OR simply search HUDWAY in you play store.

  • Is this legal in NSW/VIC, where a mobile phone needs to be in a dedicated car mount before you are allowed to use it for navigation while driving?

  • this app looks awesome can't wait to try it out!

Anyone got any recommendations for a cheap/macguyver solution to securing phone/device to the curved dash of small cars? even if it was flat I imagine it would slide around too much…

  • Thanks so much! This is one awesome deal (works flawlessly on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S6 edge).

  • Should have gotten the Hudway glass which would have been perfect with the pro version

    • nah..you wouldn't want that overpriced piece of xxxx

      • I haven't seen the price yet, but why do you say that? I'm looking at it now, and it says it makes the HUD (a bit more?) visible in daylight.

        • i guess now you already know how much does that cost yes? and i think we dont really need it to be in bright daylight, with bright daylight, we do not need HUDWAY to show us the way yes? their marketing is to enhance our direction in a low visibility conditions right? therefore, to make their app more usable (other than night time) the glass is introduced, with a premium price. in the end, it is all my opinion only. i can't agree more than it is a good app by itself btw.

  • Installed - not tried yet - thanks.

    Actually… does this work offline?

    • It can 'save' maps offline. If you divert from the route, i doubt that can be fixed offline.

  • The answer seems to be - no. It has to download each route I think.

I have a couple of GPS apps that work offline. Why can't the people that write these things do the same!?

    • Save routes to drive them later, offline

You need to "REC" and save route to use offline.

      • The app seems to imply you have to download each new route though - or no?

        • Yes you have to, You can do that while at home and then drive?

          @Jimmy007: Well, kind of.

          1. I'm on the cheapest Virgin plan. i.e. No data.

          2. I do have a second SIM from my ISP with some free monthly data. I swap that in when I want to use the Internet, but no free Wi-Fi around. But it's obviously a different phone number. Which means no phone calls/texts until I swap it back. So swap SIM, download route, swap SIM back… (May as well use it as a HUD only, and use one of the free GPS apps that work offline.)

          3. What I thought is confirmed: Their app description says, "Save routes to drive them later, offline." The place I most often enter a new destination from, is when I'm already out in the car.

Don't understand why app writers limit themselves. It's free atm, but they have charged in the past. Maybe they don't know how to make it work offline.

Installed a couple of other HUD apps too, to try out. I noticed the only permission they needed was "location", (unlike hudway).

  • Free is free.

  • How come you need a specific start location? Why can't it use the GPS to figure out where you are in cases where you don't know your start location?

    • I am on iPhone and it's using my current location.

    • I thought I saw both options.

  • Don't try it now, wait until its dark. Impossible to use with the Aussie sun. Shame because I really want to see it in action and cant wait till sundown.

    • Excited? You really need to get out more. Oh wait - you're already going to. ;-p

      • All i could see was a faint outline.

        • There are matte translucent plastic panel available on eBay to stick on your windshield where the projection will be, makes it usable in daylight.

        • @bargainaus:
I don't really have much need for this app, so ill avoid the Ozb curse, thanks!

        • @ATangk: Chicks will dig this in your car, why not? ;)

        • @bargainaus:
Now thats a different argument… Are you secretly a 'matte translucent plastic panel' seller on Ebay?

    • Hudway Glass for day-time looks very cool. $49 for the glass display.

      • Yeah, but aliexpress sells stand-alone HUDs starting about $25/$30 too.

        • can you link me, searching through aliexpress is a pain. are you sure it's the same one?

      • Thats pretty cool just like a pod racer

  • Have a look at navdy - pre order only atm

  • I downloaded it and it says $13.99 for Lifetime? Is there a promo code I'm supposed to use?

    • Probably expired. I have marked the post as expired

      • Damn, too slow on this boat. Thanks anyway, OP!

        • Will update if it becomes free :)
