If I didn't have my next 3 holidays already planned (thanks to OzBargain) I'd be booking this. Nice find OP.

    Any cheap accommodation?

    • I don't know much about hotel prices, but this looks good (and is 29% off during the travel dates)

Though, this looks nicer :) (and a little more expensive)

Disclosure - I asked staff at hotel.com.au to find me something after you posted, but I am not getting paid for it.

LA itself is a hole, wouldn't stay there but the Californian coast is amazing. Would skip visiting the city, hire a car and hit the coast.

      • Agreed here. If anywhere I would aim for north of Santa Monica and south of Newport Beach.
Having said that, it will be deep into winter so the coast might not be all that nice. (I've only done it in summer, and even then the water is chilly)

        • I would do the whole coast, drive south to the border, go for dinner in mexico or go north to Oregon or do both. Stay in B&B's along the way, so many beautiful coastal towns with nice B&B's. San Diego and San Fran much nicer places to visit. Wine country north of San Fran. It's all good.

          I love my road trips.

Don't really hit the water when I travel, I'm from 'stralia mate, why would I go OS to sit on a beach when I got plenty of beach back home.

Why is return trip even cheaper than one way flight?

  • Amazing prices coming out lately. The availability for these cheap ones seems a bit sparse, hopefully the sale will be expanded to cover more dates

  • That is some excellent pricing indeed.

  • AirNZ fly with 787 Dreamliners right?

    • on this route they're 777s i think, google the flight codes for your relevant leg(s) and there's some sites which will tell you.
i did mel-akl-lax back in august with Air NZ and it was 777s all the way

    • Put the flight number into flight radar 24 app and it will tell you.

  • Great prices from Melbourne, but not their loweat ever. Ive paid in the 700 hundreds for this same flight with ANZ

    • Wow when was that for pls i.e when did you book and when did you fly?

      • +1

        yeah i got $780 return mel-akl-lax back in aug/sep
        still, good deal at $842!

  • if you purchase through BYOJet and pay with paypal you get $75 off

  • Dam, leaving LA just a day too early for me.

  • Any japan deal? = )

    • try Jetstar or ANA, they seem to be the only ones with deals there :(

Usual caution with AirNZ. not direct flights, stopovers in Yukland can be lengthy, you should consider whether marginal saving over direct flights with Qantas, Virgin etc from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane is worthwhile .. :-) .. !!

Stopover bonus for me as parents live in Orcland (upper middle earth)

    • stopover is a bonus for me… i'm in melb and need to be velocity aligned so can't go direct with qantas, stopover in auckland is 10x better than stopover in sydney. if i have to one day i'll try brisbane, but still need to change terminals which can be a pain…

    • A stopover in Aukland beats a stopover in MEL/SYD (from ADL).

  • A stopover in Hawaii would suit me.

  • Any good deals now for US summer period? between May16 - Jul 2016?
