  • Buyer beware, there is no CD player on this. Otherwise, great deal!

In my experience, mechless (no CD player) is actually a good thing. CD players are usually the first to go wonky

    • Hence 'Mechfree' in deal description.
Much easier to play music without changing CDs. I've got a Bluetooth Sony with CD player from JB deal a year ago - never used the CD player. Its usually an added expense in Bluetooth head units & more likely to fail.

      • Also the mechfree units are about half the depth. Some cars are fairly tight behind the dash these days so every inch helps (thats what she said), especially if you're installing amps etc.. as the rca's and adapter looms etc.. can take up a bit of room

  • rear USB input. hmm, where to run the cable to… out bottom of console? what happens when want to change from lightning to 30 pin or to micro USB ?
perhaps a USB extension cable is a good option.

    • perhaps a USB extension cable is a good option.

That would be the best way. As to location, all depends on the car. Could run it to the glovebox, or run it to the centre console

    • Can someone confirm this is a rear USB port on this model? I checked Pioneer and they don't mention rear USB only front USB. However they do mention rear USB port for higher up models.

Hmm that link isn't the X model, and does look different. Maybe go into a store with it on display?

It's this one as has just been discovered :)

  • I've got the MVH-X365BT version of this in one of my cars, love it!! The only thing is having to switch between phones, but looks like they have the MXT-X386BT version to combat this.

I have the MVH-X565BT in an old 90s VW. It has rear usb/3.5mm so i just bought one of these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Car-stereo-dash-mount-USB-AUX-ada… and mounted it in a blanking plate in my dash

So is it a MVHX285BT (as in title) or a MVH-X565BT (as in the details)?

  • Would the Pioneer MXTX386BT work with Android Phones?

    • In terms of what feature?

      • I assume Bluetooth will work but what about "…Direct Control & Charge via front USB"

        • Direct Control is more of an Apple thing, but with Android over Bluetooth you'll have control of track changing etc just using the buttons on the stereo/remote control
