Pebble Time Steel $211 in Store @ Move Store

80

Saw the Pebble Time Steel at Move Store at Pacific Fair marked as $211 save $38. Ticket said sale ends 15/12/15 but even at $249 its a good price for local (and actually available) stock as its still $249 USD + shipping direct from Pebble and Dick Smith seems to have none available.

Seemed plenty of stock available in Black and Silver (not sure about Gold) at Pacific Fair. It's not showing on their website yet but you could call around and see if their other stores have it as well.

  • Is move owned by dick? Good price if you can get one

    • And yes, MOVE is a brand of Dick Smith Electronics, hence the ability to sell them and the ability to sell them at the same crazy prices that Dick Smith is selling them at (ie they've done a straight $US -> $AU swap and then discounted the Pebble Time Steels by a further 15%. WHAT?)

  • I only see the OG Pebble ($129) and Pebble Steel ($245). I'd be very surprised and disappointed to see those prices since it cost me $300+ for the Kickstarter one.

    • As mentioned above, I only saw it instore, not showing on their website at the moment. I'm also surprised and disappointed since I paid for the kickstarter one too! At least it came with the metal band though (eventually).

  • Is this the coloured screen one?

    • Yes its the Pebble Time Steel. They also had the cheaper Pebble Time (also with coloured screen) for somewhere around $199 from memory.

  • They had same prices at dicks in Sydney but I didn't bother checking if they had stock.

Don't even bother with the Pebble Time Steel.

I went to Knox Dick Smith and checked with the girl there.
She looked on the computer and told me there's none in stock anywhere.
She even told me it's not even officially listed in there system.

However they do have the Pebble Time Matte Black in stock for $199.
I bought one today and bought a steel wrist band on ebay for $13.31 including postage.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221832709809?_trksid=p2057872.m27…

The stainless wrist band looks pretty legit in photo and if it turns out to be crap, I'm only going to lose $13.61.
    It's really worth the risk.

    So $199 + $13.61 = $212.61.

Which is roughly the same price as advertised in the DS catalogue.
My understanding is, the Pebble Time Steel is just a Pebble time shipped with a separate stainless steel wrist band.

Dick Smith deserves to go under for false advertising.
DON'T advertise a product that's not even in stock!!

Since you've copied and pasted your diatribe, I might as well copy and paste my rebuttal:

Unfortunately, you're mistaken on a number of points.

It's demonstrably untrue that "it's not even officially listed in there [sic] system". I have bought and paid for it twice, using their part number. The part numbers are even listed in their catalogue, let alone on their computer system.

Secondly, a number of people have walked in off the street and collected theirs in-store.

Thirdly, the Pebble Time and the Pebble Time Steel are two different watches. If nothing else, the Pebble Time Steel has a metallic casing rather than plastic. Hence, surprisingly, the "steel" part of the name. It also has a bigger battery. They even have a side-by-side comparison on their site: https://www.pebble.com/compare

I'm very glad you're happy with your Pebble Time and your $13.31 steel wristband, but you've really gone off half-cocked here.

      • Did your pebble come with the steel band?

        • Australian stock of PTS don't NOT include the steel band. The Kickstarter ones all did. Steel band is available directly thought Pebble. Great band though fitment is a bit hit and miss.

        • @jbuttnz: Damn, thanks. Guess i'll have to find one from somewhere

    • I bought this band and it's utter shite. Wish I spent the extra 10-20 for the legit one

  • Went to Move Emporium and they had 1 gold one left at $211 but the guy let me order a silver at the same price. Said it definitely won't be in before Xmas though.

  • Why is it listed $345 in Sydney? :(

  • Just to clarify does the time steel from ds or move include the steel band or just leather one?

As above, just leather. Steel band not available in Australia.
