  • Unless its changed, First Choice don't offer click and collect, so delivery charges will apply.

    • +4

Apparently they have click and collect in Victoria, so I guess this deal is useful there.

    • +1

      NO CLICK AND COLLECT ???

what a ******** offer this then is !!

…as I have a 1st Choice store right next to the gym that I go to 6 days a week and drive home past.

$7 for delivery of a case of beer is a scandal - wipes out most of the then supposedly reward.

Dan Murphys have no issue with collecting - what's the issue with 1st Choice ??

      • In Victoria absolutely c&c

  • thanks OP!

Quite a few bargains with this

    4x Coronas Cases for $146
    2x Hendricks Gin 700mL $90

  • +1

    3x coronas for $132 - $30 = $102

Shipping kills it though. $20 for me.

    • +1

So just think of it as a free shipping deal and wait for an alcohol bargain down the track!

      • +2

2 x coronas $88 add delivery comes to $101.90 -$30. $71.90 spent works out to be $36/each. Still good price.

    • Spend $150 for free delivery

      • +1

        Excludes beer and cider though.

    • -4

think of it this way, do you really want to drive all the way to the bottle shop, and then lug around 3 cartons of beer to/from your car?
I think $20 is expensive yes, but when you factor in the above, its not too bad

      • +3

hahaha really? unless you live in the country maybe. There is no way $20 and WAITING for it to be shipped is anywhere near justifiable for anyone even remotely close to a bottle shop, and putting 3 cartons in a trolley and 'lugging' them around hahaha

10 points for exaggeration though :)

        • +2

I didn't say its cheap. But then it depends how much you value your time I suppose. For some people who are time starved but aren't in a hurry to get the item delivered, $20 isnt that bad. For me 1st choice is just down the road from my work so I'd want click&collect, but for others it might mean a 15-20minute drive

        • +8

@Overtime2000: Anyone who valued their time that much wouldn't be browsing and commenting on ozbargain forums ;)

    • Free shipping kicks in at $150 if that entices you :)

  • Click and collect in Victoria. Cheers OP. +1

Yamazaki sold out fail. Would have bought 2

extra upvote for saying 'would have' instead of 'would of'

  • Sweet deal.

    • Cheers mate…got the same deal, and click and collect around the corner in Vic. Solid Vodka, amazing price.

    • Showing as $75 for me? What price are you guys seeing?

      • yesterday it was 2 for $100, looks like finished now

        • Yep, shame. It is good stuff and a bargain at that price. Cheers.

  • Does anyone know how to register a secondary card as the secondary card has exactly the same card number and CCV

    • +1

You can't register the same card. The AMEX site doesn't ask for the name on the card, which is the only thing different on a supplementary card.

If you want to take advantage of the deal twice. You'll need another AMEX :) Next time there is a sweet points deal I suggest you grab one.

      These are still available:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/223500
      or pick from here: https://www.qantaspoints.com/earn-points/cards-banking/card-…
ANZ has some pretty sweet deals if you can make the minimum spends

    • You can't when it has the same number.

    • +1

      NO YOU CANT

You only can do it if secondary card has different number then and only then.. YES YOU CAN

  • -1

Coles & Myer gift cards online?

    • I don't really get what you mean? You need to use your AMEX for this deal not gift cards. The online store doesn't sell gift cards that I can see

      • +2

I think he was talking about purchasing the cards online, which you can't do through the 1C website

      • +6

What he means is that for the past deals like for liqueur land we would go into the store and use our Amex card to purchase a $50 Coles type gift card and effectively be able to do our grocery shopping with a 20% discount. Even though Amex often says gift card purchases are excluded it is (in my experience) never enforced. In this case the deal is online only and so ABC was wondering if those sort of gift cards were available online so we could all just get a few $100 gift cards for shopping.

        • +1

Makes sense now thanks. I personally just bought 2 cases of Corona

  • +2

Great deal! 3 coronas at $44 each at $132, $30 back, bring the coronas to $34 a case. Even better with double team discount at the moment for employees! Can land them at 29.60 with click and collect!

Also new catalogue starts tomorrow, so i would wait for that if there's nothing interesting at the moment.

    • Could you please advise how you get click and collect? Not seen this option from first choice before https://www.1stchoice.com.au/Help/FAQ

If they have it, means people with multiple amex cards can purchase just over $100 each trans and avoid those delivery charges…

      • +2

Only available in victoria, set your closest store if in vic and the click and collect option will be on the website.

  • Is it just me, or does Amex want us to be alcoholics? First Dan Murphy deal and now First choice. Next month is going to be Cellarbrations.

    • +2

      Next month will be -
Buy $2000 worth of heroin, get $50 credit on your Amex. Excludes Gift Cards.

    • yes. i've been encouraged to to buy up durign the last 2 DMs and now the 1st choice since the JW black is reduced from $39 to $31.50 when you buy 4 and get free shipping.

WHo needs to buy duty free when you can get it cheaper.

Has anyone gotten triple MR points since it seems the billing goes through coles? DMs earns me 3 points online

    • +1

Yeah they want you to be drunk so you forget about the high AMEX surcharges that some retailers pass onto their customers

  • +2

2 bottles of Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial NV Champagne 750mL are $36.47 each delivered.

If you want Moet is a good price.

  • Drink responsibly.

  • Anyone successfully priced matched at First choice?
They have a "lowest Price Promise" on there website
    https://www.1stchoice.com.au/Ordering/Pricing

    • Give it a go, but it does look like it's an in-store only price match.

In store LOWEST PRICE PROMISE terms and conditions

      • Items in question must be identical.
      • Competitor’s price must be available on the day, in the state of purchase and on items purchased in the same quantities.
      • Competitor must have item in stock.
      • Excludes online offers, trade quotations, liquidations and clearance sales.
      • We reserve the right to limit sales to reasonable retail quantities.
      • Competitor’s current price must be verified.
      • Competitor’s conditions may apply. Eg.: Delivery fees, methods of payment etc.
      • Competitor’s premises must be within 10km of the First Choice Liquor store in which you are purchasing.
    • We were told you could do it online for click and collect but would need to speak to customer service. Not sure how easy or if its been done before, click and collect has only been available for 2 weeks.

Other option would be purchase with click and collect and when you head in speak to the store about a refund and price match as you didnt realise etc etc.

    • Yeah, have done plenty of times successfully against Dan Murphy's sale prices (in store only though).

    • Yes, just about every time I buy from First Choice Liquor, I get them to price match Dan Murphy's. Never had a problem with it, though that is only in store and not online.

      TA where are you!!!

  • +1

I assume the $100 includes delivery? i.e. A purchase of $95 of product with $6.95 delivery (total of $101.95) would still give $30 back?

    • +1

I have the same question, also spending 95 haha

    • +1

It should, I recently took up the Rebel Sport spend $50 get back $20 and it worked when shipping got me across the $50 line.

    • +3

Yes. AMEX is indifferent as to what the money goes toward, they only see that it was spent at 1st Choice.

Looking at the number of up votes, I thought this is another gift card deal. :(

If you're an alcoholic, this product delivers the best bang for your hard-earned bucks:

    https://www.1stchoice.com.au/Red%20Wine/hidden-gem-cabernet-…

Price is $ 2.85/bottle so you'll get 35 bottles ($ 100/$ 2.85) and with the credit statement from Amex ($30) , your total cost of acquiring 26.25 litre of red wine is $ 70!!!

That's cheaper than the price of most bottled water (i.e:Evian)

    • +1

If you're an alcoholic with no class, or just a bogan:
Tangled Vine Soft Fruity Red Cask 4Lt 2 for $20. For $100 - $30 you get 10 casks or 40 litres for $70. That equates to about 316 standard drinks, should be enough to see you through until the new year.

      • How did you get that deal to work? Not working for me. Total is coming up $126…

    • +2

Thanks, VIPCHAT worked for me. If it doesn't work, add your postcode before applying the code then checkout.

      • I just tried vipchat on beer, and it seemed to work for free delivery. I did have it with some bourbon though.

Sad they don't really have any beer I'm looking for. And that my closest bottlo is a firstchouce :)

  • 3x bottles of Smirnoff red 1125mL for $142.50 with free shipping minus $30 credit works out to exactly $25 for a 750mL bottle equivalent.

  • Hmm 2 bottles of ciroc.. or 2 bottles of belvedere?? Both lots $35 a bottle

    • ciroc!

      • Have you tried the coconut one? Does it taste like coconut?

        • Nah not a huge fan of flavored vodka but ciroc at that price is ridiculous and for $35 it's worth a try!

        • @lkp: ok great thanks!

  • Thanks op got Johnny walker gold label x 2 . Delivered at $50 each after cashback

  • Sitting tight for a cashrewards deal to stack with amex cashback…

  • Seems the 2 for $100 deals are expired (24/11-1/12), yet they are still advertised on the items…

  • Most specials expired after midnight :-( Spent some time looking but didn't buy quick enough.
Going to sleep now, seems like time wasted and they don't want my business after all.

    • new specials 20% off selected scotches

  • yeah OK seems to have been updated now. Might just go the Glenlivet like the other poster…

    • Glen livet founders is $49 on special

  • Hi there everyone,
I am a budding bargain hunter enthusiast.
I am only 18 and have in past neglected deals involving AMEX due to a lack of knowledge on the subject…
Does it incur extra charges? Is it like paypal? Is it worth signing up for? I dont even know what questions to ask as I don't know what it is!
Could someone please enlighten me or link me to a page of detail on this matter?
    Thanks :)

    • +1

There are plenty of good Amex deals with first year free.
If you're only 18 you might not qualify for the annual income requirements on them.

There are other cards with fewer or no rewards that are fee-free and easier to apply for.

Some shops charge a surcharge for Amex which will generally mean it's not worth using, even if you would earn rewards they are usually valued less than the surcharge.

It's definitely worth owning at least one Amex. But for someone who is 18 I would say your first card is better off being a 28 Degree Mastercard for the free international transactions.

    • +1

First you need to get an Amex card. Plenty of info to find on OzB and other Aussie credit card review sites about which card is the best.
Take your time and find one that has a good deal upon signing up, then learn about "Amex Connect".

    • Thanks for the help :)

  • 1st choice have 20% off selected scotches. Bagged me a Bottle of glen livet founders and glen morangie 10yo for $38 each after credit. Well over $50 saving on Dan murphies

  • +1

Wow lucky I waited until today with there newly released specials for single malts (Wed).

    Scored the following:

    1. Aberlour 12YO @ $55
    2. Ardbeg 10YO @ $65
    3. Cragganmore 12YO $66

    $186 - $30 = $156 total!!!

Even though I'm in VIC, couldn't c&c the Aberlour as it wasn't available for c&c, so needed to add the Cragganmore to push the total to $150 for free delivery =(

The Cragganmore wasn't my best choice as I love the smokey/peaty drops, but haven't tried it yet. Seems like it's a bit like Glenmorangie which I didn't mind as it was really easy to drink.

    • edit

      • Arghhh, too bad I already ordered. Thanks for that mate!

I also noticed that there was a code for free delivery "VIPCHAT" which was commented further above. Missed this one too =(

    • Ardbeg 10yo is a steal for $65 - even better is two for $100 delivered. Could not resist :(
