Have a chat to these guys

    http://sca.org.au/

It does beg the questions "why did you build it" and "where did you use it"?

    • +1

I think that my quote on the video says it best… "to build a catapult is better then to not build a catapult" ;) I used it at a party mostly just shot water baloons …

      • "to build a catapult is better than to not build a catapult" FTFY

    • Traditionally speaking, orcs tend to be the biggest buyers in the catapult market.

  • That looks frickin awesome! I might need one if the Mongolians are invading. But how would one transport it?

EDIT: Aw…just watched the video. It's not as big as I thought it was…

    • +8

haha yeah I would have made it allot bigger but my free wood resources were limited …. as they say in AOE "WOOD PLEASE "

  • +3

You built it in the wrong side of the continent. Bring it to the East coast and lets fire some rocks at Kiwis!

    • Surely its big enough to give the South Africans a scare especially before any Test.

    • +3

if you think about it .. its not the wrong side .. all the Kiwi's are over here ;)

  • +5

    Tell him hes dreaming..

    • +3

Yes, the answer to the OP is "with jousting sticks, in the Trading Post".

      • ..or with a pulpit.

  • I would link to the ad on https://www.facebook.com/PerthMedievalFayre/ or similar

    Looks cool!

  • +1

    how much is postage?

    • +1

in honor of the movie i will be watching in a few hours…. "more then you can possibly imagine "

    • +5

Postage is free. Just load up the catapult on the catapult. Delivered.

  • +7

Slap a "Star Wars' sticker on the side, and it'll sell in 5 minutes at the moment

    • +1

I might take this on-board … if you cant beat those gumtree keyword spammers join them?

      • +1

Adding a Game of Thrones reference would not hurt either

        • true .. problem is I know nothing about game of thrones

    • Paint it black and paint assorted rocks orange and white. But yeah, what he said ^

  • +2

Give it Jon Snow.. so he can hurl that little f'wad Olly to the white walkers

    WOLOLO

    your catapult is now mine

    • +10

hahahahha … sorry bro monks can't convert siege units….(phew)

  • +1

Not looking to buy it, just wanted to say - that is sick! Well done!

  • Very cool.

I just warn you to double check if its legal to own or sell a catapult. I am pretty sure that sling shots are illegal so catapults may be in that same grey area.

Perhaps also find some similar clubs and advertise with them. eg. shooting range, clay pigeon, riffle/pistol clubs, archery clubs, paintball clubs, laser tag businesses.

  • come on. Where are the videos demonstrating that it works!

    • +1

check the gumtree advert there is a quick youtube ;) with a couple tweaks it can increase its range a decent amount … but torsion is scary its already bent 2 very decent sized bolts at once… and hit me in the head with the tightening pole haha..

  • +7

You know if it had been a trebuchet I would have snapped it up.

    • it can be arranged..

    • My dad and I (dad mostly) did make a small trebuchet once for a school project. 2X2X2 Basketball-sizes in volume.

  • +3

I was totally after a ballista. So close…

This should be in the middle east, This will eliminate the virus, if you know what i mean.

    • +11

      America?

  • Powered by Eneloops?

    • naturally … how else did they do it in the middle ages…

  • +1

ROFL… enjoy Star Wars, gave my tickets away. Decided to sleep instead of hanging out with the cool kids.

    That's no moon… it's a catapult.

  • +1

Good photography. That 3rd Image made it seem massive. I swear I pictured a person being the height of the wheels…until I saw the Dog ;)

  • Id give you, about tree fiddy.

  • Hrmmm I have no use for it anymore ……..

i guess your castle sacking days are behind you now?

  • Don't Sell It !!!

Use it to invade Freo (or Poland)

  • +4

My recommendations? Format your advertisement better on GumTree. It's a pain to read - poor spelling, incorrect grammar (You're/your, than/than etc.), poor punctuation.

Maybe you should redo the video with a medieval-themed song, to match what you're selling.

    • I agree with you about the gumtree advert.. I changed it a little perhaps a slight improvement but not much I wrote it late at night and my grammar etc is terrible at the best of times.
as for the video I ain't changing it mostly because I cant be bothered..

I did consider paying to get in gumtrees front page gallery.. but paying $50 ($40 with the 20% off coupon they offered me) really goes against the grain as a Ozbargainer..

Do you have friends or family with a wood heater?

  • -1

Would of bought it my self if it was a trojan horse.

  • +1

Is the last pic on the gumtree ad the live ammunition?

  • Do you have specials on one way flights from Perth to Adelaide and does it come with 30kg luggage allowance and an inflight meal?

  • +2

I'd suggest bundling it with a battering ram, that way you can market it as an all in one siege kit. Also, that's an excellent dire wolf you have there.

    • i will take this on board … im guessing a cordless battering ram would be the way to go?

  • +2

Just what I need. Can you ship to Kingdom of Jerusalem, First Crusade, adjacent to Saladin's army; make out the recipient as Balian of Ibelin and declare it as a "Gift from God - Purpose: Heathen Smiting".

Also, does it take flaming ammunition?

    • will do

why do you think i chose a metal bowl just add flammable's.. and your neighborhood disagreements are fixed…;)

  • Probably get pulled over by police and charged with dangerous weapon possession while transporting it….

Did you check how legal this thing is with local authority? Having said so, it's freaking awesome, only if I live in the farm ..

    • if you watch the video you'll see its along way from being classed as an actual weapon even if you wind it real tight shooting range will still be sub 50m for like a water bomb or tennis ball… the most damage that you can do with it is if it happens to collide with your crutch… no more children…

  • I think you might have more luck getting a medieval role play group (or something similar) to take it off your hands. I know there should be a few around sydney.

  • +4

Mate, you don't sell a catapult.

    they sell themselves

  • +1

Only 20kms away from me. Can you build another catapult and shoot it over?

    • +2

A catapult shooting a catapult shooting another catapult.

I think if we go deeper, we might even have a super cheap Medieval Space program.

  • +1

May come in handy when trying to invade some castles.

  • Who needs a catapult?
OTOH, if that was a trebuchet…

    • +2

never heard OTOH before had to google… for those playing at home "On The Other Hand"

  • Ohhhh no wonder you built it you're in Kalamunda, you can set this baby up on a nice hill and fire your mates off

  • (not really trying to make money just seeing if I can recover some costs of building it)

Aww. Really? I would have thought you'd try to flip it for a profit…

    … ಠ_ಠ

    • who knew the demand for catapults was such a niche market?

      • Zooooooooooooooooooooooooom!

  • +2

I'd keep an eye out for any medieval fairs and try to flog it there. maybe just put up flyers or advertise it on renaissance/medieval event related facebook pages.
