It's 25% off in the catalogue and I'm sure it's the same on their ebay store.

The extra 15% off would be off the discounted (25% off) price right? Making the total discount around 30%

Still a good deal though. Would recommend the "Fabra Cadabra" upholstery cleaner/deoderiser. Has a kind of new fabric smell rather than flowery stuff.

I bought the Muffy Sponge and it fell apart during the 1st use. Didn't think much of the chamois either to be honest, more like a towel than traditional chamois that I'm used to.

    • Did you contact them. I sure they would love to hear your feedback

      • Haven't yet but I do intend to. Used it about 2 weeks ago.

        • If you still have the receipt im sure they will help you out

        • Just to follow up, I contacted Dan at Bowden's Own directly and hes sent me out a new Muffy Sponge. Can't fault the service from Bowden's Own that's for sure.

        • @kevsta89:

Good to hear i knew they would take care of you

          @lowndes8:
Just a FYI for everyone, the new sponge turned up and it looks like they've changed the material.

First defective sponge was white with yellow top and bottom, the new sponge is yellow with yellow top and bottom.

    • I've had a two Muffy Sponges which I've had for nearly 1 year. Used about once a fortnight. They are both still in good condition.

Use waffle-weave drying towels instead of a chamois for greater safety when drying.

      • That's good advice for a car that's been well protected with a wax, sealant, or coating. However, most cars aren't well protected and are better to be dried with a traditional chamois. If you're after safety, you could use a blower to safely blow the water away :-)

        • I must admit I've not heard of a traditional chamois being safer than a waffle-weave when the recipient vehicle isn't protected. By 'better', do you mean faster? The shape and deeper pile of WW microfibre means that, at least in theory, it should always be better at safely capturing left-over dust and dirt.

A blower is arguably the safest method, but I think it is contentious how much pressure should be used — air-compressor fed 'air guns', for example, may push water further into crevices, promoting rust, mildew and other moisture-related problems.

        • @Shiny Mew:
A chamois is easier to use on paint that is rough or isn't beading water. When using a waffle weave towel, use as little pressure as possible.

Air guns are great for removing water in crevices and I don't agree that it moves water deeper in them. The whole idea is to move as much water out of them so that water isn't flung on to the paint when the car is driven.

  • I grabbed a bunch of stuff, stupid Ebay wanted to add delivery costs to each item ($7.95!) so I had to individually select Click n Collect for each item. Good discount though - grabbed clay bar and cloth, a chamois and some wax sealant to go with my Leather kit I got during the last 25% off sale.

    • What's the best for cleaning/ protecting modern Sealed leather?

Also, will it effect door trim plastics?

      Cheers

      • Armorall leather protectant is much cheaper http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Armor…

        • Cheers, but doesn't armorall leather get a bad rap?

        • +3

          @tunzafun001:

          Armor All is rubbish

        • @lowndes8:
Cheers. In what way are they rubbish?
What about these Leather love and Leather Guard products?

        • +1

          @tunzafun001:

Not for any good reason as far as I know. I believe it has that reputation because firstly it's the most popular/famous protectant, and secondly older formulations were attributed to dash cracking, but which was probably just because of the plastic composition of older dashes rather than Armorall itself.

Happy to be corrected, but I have never seen any evidence.

        • +2

@seanmurphy1994: My experience is, it was greasy and attracted lots of dust.

        • @tunzafun001: Armor All is single-handedly the worst thing I have ever used.

        • @stevensx: Reason? Always seems to do a good job when I use it.

        • @kevsta89: Honestly received the Armor All leather treatment as a bday present so thought I'd give it a use (despite the fact that 'car guys' repeatedly told me not too'. Applied a small amount and it quickly became apparent that it was a very greasy solution. Even though I worked it in thoroughly it still appeared to do more harm than good unfortunately. Armor All seems to be the cheap option targeted at people who don't know any better.

        • @tunzafun001:

Armor All generally suffers from a poor reputation owing to an old formulation for their plastic conditioning products which promoted pre-mature fading and discolouration. Apparently, this formulation was replaced a long time ago. However, many people believe that this problem was attributable to the use of silicon in their formulation, and that since this is still very much present in their current plastic conditioning range that the brand should remain suspect. If you want to try a silicon-free conditioner, Aerospace 303 is the most popular.

There is also conjecture that their shampoo range unfortunately contains salts to promote increased foaming or 'suds' (which is erroneously equated with cleaning ability). Again, insufficient investigation suggests this is mere theory, but it's something to keep in mind.

Bowden or the Oakwood Leather complete kit for under $30?

          m.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/Oakwood-Leather-Care-Complete-Protection-Pack/366544

      • I haven't used my Leather stuff yet, been too busy. But friends have recommended it.
Also depending on the type of leather, there's different products (Euro vs Aussie Leather styles)

        • Seats from a Mitsubishi Outlander VRX. So Asian leather?

I bought Kitten Leather cleaner & Conditioner. It leaves white scuffs, and white smears on the black plastic trims that have leather accents.

I might grab the leather guard and just clean the seats with warm soapy water.

        • @tunzafun001:

Should be fine. Anything after 1984 is fine for Leather Cleaner from Bowdens according to their site.

Has anyone tried either of the clay towels? How do they compare to a regular clay bar?

    • Yeah, I'd love to know as well, I've used bars in the past but these look like a good alternative if they work!

      • +4

I have a mate who is a detailer and he said the towel is better than the clay bar

    • +3

They're more expensive up-front but quickly pay themselves off through repeated use. Pros: more efficient and washable/reusable. Cons: apparently the risk of marring paintwork is higher with them than clay, so they're often used only when polishing is also part of the regimen.

  • Thanks for the heads up. Got some claybar as I dropped my last one and will try out the clay towel.

    • You might not go back to clay after using a towel but if you do, only ever break off what you need. That way if you drop it you can just break off another piece.

  • Any feedback on Naked Glass? Is it any better than home brand glass cleaner etc.?

    • It's very good used it and it's streak free and easy to remove

I always use Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash and this is the cheapest price that I have ever seen it.

      • Yeah i use gold class or nxt ☺

        • Which one is better?

        • @ievoi: Either, Gold Class has a better finish and the NXT smells better…

Awesome. Picked up a bottle of wheely clean, fabra cadabra, a clay towel and meguiars gold class wash for around $65. Perfect Christmas present!

  • Tried to buy fine clay bar.. "Seller blocks buyers who exceed the limit of currently winning or bought items"

Clay towel can be bought so I did

  • Anyone got this error?
"These items are not available. They may have been purchased already, or the listings have expired."
Already checked non of them expired.

Sorry for the slow reply, yes I had that problem this morning. I had a bit of difficulty buying 2 clay towels, but I called the store, and they only had 1 in stock, so I selected another store and it worked.

Supercheap have been calling me everyday for the last two days about picking up my order. First they fail to notify me that it's ready, then they hound me…bloody clowns.
